In the annals of dining misfortune, seldom have I found myself compelled to castigate an establishment with such fervor. Verily, it is a rarity for me to bestow upon any eatery a rating so dismal, yet alas, fate has conspired to draw me into the maelstrom of disappointment once more, separated by years of fleeting hope.As we crossed the threshold of this purported haven of Mexican culinary delights, the ambiance initially charmed us with its promise of gastronomic satisfaction. Seated with undue haste, we found ourselves attended to by a waitress whose performance would ignite a schism of opinion between myself and my esteemed consort. While I found her efforts passable, my wife, in her discerning wisdom, perceived grievous faults in the provision of service. But let us not dwell solely on her perspective. Our libations were ordered, accompanied by a modest offering of queso. Yet, it is at this juncture that the narrative takes a dire turn, plunging our evening into the abyss of culinary despair. Behold! My wife's vessel, intended to house naught but the purest of waters, besmirched by unsightly blemishes of brown hue, a testament to neglect and dereliction. Rectified it was, with a vessel cleansed, but alas, the stain upon our experience remained. As we partook of the crisp embrace of corn chips, our gaze fell upon the vessel whence they came, only to be greeted by a sight most foul. The very receptacle from which we indulged was not merely tarnished, but befouled, a harbinger of disdain and disregard. How, one might ponder, could such an affront to cleanliness evade notice?Contemplations of retreat danced upon our minds, yet we were ensnared by the arrival of our repast. A folly it was, to venture into the realm of the quesataco, a dish whose siren song of temptation proved naught but a cacophony of disappointment. The taciturn broth betrayed no hint of flavor, while the beef, though tolerable, failed to elicit rapture. Only the black beans, a solitary beacon of merit, offered respite from the pall of discontent.Ah, but the specter of soiled vessels lingered, casting a shadow over every morsel. We should have fled, yet inertia held sway over our resolve. A paltry excuse, delivered by our beleaguered waitress, spoke of a dishwashing debacle from the eve prior. Not today, mind you, but in the dim recesses of yesterday. A revelation that only served to compound our disillusionment. Thus, with heavy hearts and lighter wallets, we beseeched the provision of to-go containers, settling our account with nary a glance back. Verily, we vow never again to darken the doorstep of this lamentable establishment, consigning it to the annals of culinary infamy, where it shall languish in perpetuity, a cautionary tale for the ages.

Cool restaurant. Menu selection was wide variety. Greeted and seated quickly. My meal selection was out standing. Normally, for me, either the beans or rice are not very good. They both were delicious. If we get back to the area we will return.

Located in Salem Indiana is a great little Mexican restaurant called El Caminos!Prompt greet at the door, immediately seated at our table with ten guests.Chips and salsa on the table as the server took our drink order. The chips were fresh and the salsa was okay. We ordered our food, I had the burrito plate, it was fat and tasty and the presentation was very nice. The rest of the the guests ordered fajitas tacos and short ribs. No one complained! It was a very nice experience and I definitely recommend eating there.

Been getting the chicken keto tacos, which come with three tacos made of cheese and filled with fresh goodies. For those trying to do a little better. Two is a good meal. If they served four I could save two for another day.

To be fair, I've only ever been to El Camino's twice, but that's enough for me. The first time was years ago, but it was midday, empty, and my group had a pretty okay experience. This last time, a couple weeks ago, was, frankly, disappointing. It was a little busier, so I was willing to have to wait a bit. Boyfriend and I are seated. 30 minutes go by before someone (not our waitress) stops by and says "hey, have you all got drinks?" We had not. We didn't have silverware, either. We finally get drinks, chips, salsa, and complimentary queso for having to wait so long. We still have not seen our waitress. 15 more minutes go by before she shows up to apologize for the wait; apparently there was a big order that was holding up the kitchen (how... does that affect your ability to check in on us?). Anyway, everything is fine and we get our order in. We wait for probably another 30-45 minutes to get our food. At this point, neither of us want to be here, we've been waiting over an hour. We've only gotten refills once, our drinks were empty for the majority of our meal. Food comes out, mine (chicken cheesy rice) is pretty good! Awesome, in fact! Boyfriends burrito? Not so much. Tortilla was soggy, pasty, and just difficult to get down. He said the meat inside was pretty good, though. Overall, I would not suggest El Camino's as the place to go in Salem for Mexican food. My boyfriend straight up refuses to walk in again, which I understand. Just... don't waste your time.

If you spend the day hiking, the rule is, you get tacos after. That is just how it works. After doing a trail in the area, on our way back to Louisville, we happened upon El Camino's. It was mid afternoon, so there were very few people out. WE were seated quickly and got some nice, cold water and margaritas. They have a large menu so it was not difficult to find something you'll like. Our food was fast and fresh and the waitress made sure our chips never emptied. If you are like us and need tacos after hiking, this is a great place to stop. Even if you haven't gone hiking, this is still a great place to stop.

We go here often. Cheyenne is our favorite waitress there. Some of the guys can be overly busy. She's great. Food is always amazing. Comes out fast and hot. Made when we order. There's daily specials. Wednesday's is .85 lime margaritas...potent little drinks for sure. Delicious. Only complaint is that you always have to flag someone down to get more chips and salsa. White queso is amazing. The combos are the way to go if you like variety. Highly recommend the California burrito and the Texas Special.

I ordered a chipotle chicken quesadilla and this is what showed up. It looks more like a burrito that fell on the floor. The chicken was bland along with sauce on top. The waiter/host couldn't be bothered to refill our drinks. The serve was subpar. The restaurant when you first walk has an odor of urine. We were the only patrons in the restaurant at 3:00. I guess I shouldn't go to Indiana for Mexican food. This place is definitely a pass on our next visit. Do yourself a favor and save your money and go someplace else to eat. Maybe Taco Bell!?
