Immediately seated in the wide open bar area. Really love the dark moody interior. Our server, Michael, was extremely attentive and funny. He was knowledgeable of the menus and made great recommendations. The squid rings weee delicious and crisp. The Robert Deniroll was awesome and my husband enjoyed the Tonkatsu Ramen. Very YUMMY. Came in for a sushi dinner and left with satisfied tastebuds. Service was on the slower side but this place was pretty busy for a Tuesday evening. Very extensive menu with a nice selection. I ended up getting the Dragon Kings Daughter and My Neighbor Toto Toro rolls. I love dragon rolls so I wasn't surprised that this one was delicious. I love that it was the perfect bite too as some of these can be quite oversized. However I WAS surprised with the Toto Toro roll. Wow. From the light sear on the outside to the sesame on the inside, all the flavors were just spot on.

Solid takeout in New Albany!I've loved DKD ever since enjoying the original location in the Highlands, so when I found myself in New Albany in need of takeout, I was happy to discover DKD's location on that side of the river.I easily ordered via their site and had about a 30-minute wait. I went with the Indulgent roll, made with spicy crab, cream cheese and avocado, tempura fried, as well as the Ballin' Out of Crunch Roll, made with shrimp tempura with cream cheese inside, spicy crab, honey-wasabi, unagi sauce and crunchy tempura flakes outside.When I arrived, the front counter was empty, but after waiting a few minutes, a staff person came up and fetched my food. Once home, I dug into my to-go container. Both are large-and-in-charge kind of rolls. There was a bit of familiarity to them -- sushi comfort food -- while also being a bit different too. I'm a fan of DKD's unique twist and originality. I had missed DKD! I need to now check out their new-ish spot on Bardstown Road too.

I have been to the one in Louisville and was excited to try this one. It did not disappoint. The Derby Old Fashioned was so good. The drizzled chocolate and nuts on the side sets this old fashioned apart from all the others. The edamame was good. Sushi was also good. The kimichi beef was absolutely delicious. Very spicy. I like spicy food. Mixing the kimchi beef with the fried rice was so good. The oreo roll was not good to me. Rice and oreo just wasn't a good combination to me. I will definitely return.

I'm updating my previous review due to the fact that DKD has exceeded my expectations in recent years. This is absolutely one of the first places that comes to mind when visitors from out of town ask for dining recommendations. Food is a unique mix of flavors and textures. The sushi is unlike what you'll find anywhere else. The cocktail menu is on point! Watermelon kimono and the 3:10 to Yuma are especially refreshing.Service is always top notch!If you can, grab a booth on the bar side. That's the darker, more private portion. The general seating side is fine, but much brighter and open. It's great! Go!

My niece, my mom & I were the City of New Albany's Bicentennial Park Summer Concert Series on a Friday evening. The park is just down the road from DKD.I ordered all three of us food by placing an order online. It said it would be ready in 45 minutes. My niece & I walked over to pick up our order. We walked over & order was ready within 5 minutes of arriving (still earlier than 45 minutes) which we appreciated. My niece had a brilliant idea to ask for an extra to go container so we could each have our own "plate." The staff was happy to do that for us. We sat in the park, ate our delicious food, & enjoyed the music! Definitely will do this again!

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite New Albany restaurant. Started with the Stuffed Wontons, we almost got a second plate they were so tasty! My partner got the Flipity, that's her go to. I went with the miso soup and kimchi beef, both were excellent. They add mushrooms, onions and carrots to their miso, it's very delicious but wanted to mention it. The kimchi was delicious and when you tell them spicy, they take that shit seriously! Don't skip on the fried snickers, it's like going to the fair but bougie!

Excellent sushi. I order the Swanson roll which the ingredients sound weird but it is so tasty. I also get some tuna on the side. My husband gets a spider roll.

Excellent experience! We visited during lunch hours and it wasn't too busy. We enjoyed 2 sushi rolls and the veggie rice. Forgot to take pictures because it was so enjoyable!! Highly recommend

Food was amazing, service was great. We were immediately seated at the Robata, which was a great spot!
