Dongar Food Mart

Dongar Food Mart is a no frills spot. I've never gotten gas here, but some friends used to live very nearby, so we would stop here sometimes to grab drinks. Honestly, that's really my only experience with this spot. It isn't nice. Don't go in expecting a great gas station stop. You'll have to go to a bigger name place for that. This is just a really simple spot, without a whole lot of options. The snack selection is fairly limited, and I once attempted to purchase orange juice here, and they didn't have any. But, if you're looking to grab some drinks (in our case that typically meant 40's, which they definitely have a selection of) it's an alright place to do it.

I've been to this gas station a few times over the years. Generally dirty. Generally nothing particularly appealing about it. I'd never had bad service until recently. I had been at a concert at Headliners. Went by the gas station afterwards for cigarettes. There were no other cars outside and the door was locked but I could clearly see the clerks inside. I knocked. The sign beside the door said they were open until midnight. I checked my watch; it was 11:30pm. So you can understand my confusion as I waited for a clerk to come open the door. A man poked his head out and asked what I needed. I said I needed to buy cigarettes. He asked what brand I wanted. I told him, and he went back inside and locked the door behind him. He returned with my brand of cigarettes and told me it was $5. As any smoker knows, no pack of cigarettes (or any item, for that matter) are ever exactly a dollar amount. Likely, they were actually around $4.25-4.75. This tells me that the clerk was likely overcharging me to simplify the process of me paying, to get rid of me. When you make your customers stand outside and wait for you to get their items, it's hard to not feel like a nuisance. Again, all of this happened during normal store hours according to the posted store hours by the door. I never minded the general dirty aesthetic of the place in the past but after being treated negatively and being overcharged unnecessarily, I won't be returning to this store.

DO NOT BUY GAS HERE... The staff is very unhelpful. They have no bathrooms. The food is junk. The building is dirty inside & out. There were lots of unscrupulous people loitering outside. I really really needed to use the bathroom while getting gas & buying two courts of oil. However, despite our large purchase & my clean demeanor I was still told I couldn't use their "private" bathroom. It hurt so bad I almost peed in the street. I understand "private" bathrooms with all the vagrants about but please make an exception sometimes. It would have been much appreciated. However, now I will just avoid at all costs. I love to Yelp & I will hold a grudge.

Do not go here, They will double charge your card and then will refuse to refund you the money even if after they said it wil refund after 24 hours. This place is extremely shady use cash only if you go no cards ever

Racist Employee! I stopped at this location to pick up some lottery tickets since I was in the area on 02/22/2021. Walked in store and wasn't greeted whatsoever. The employee just stood behind the counter looking around. I then asked where was their lottery station located, so I could fill out my lottery slips. While I was filling out my lottery slips, a white lady walked in, and the employee IMMEDIATELY greeted her and carried on a conversation and "thanking" her for her purchased. Another white customer came in, and he did the same. Thinking that I may have been exaggerating, I went to the counter to purchase my lottery. I stood there while he placed the slips in the machine, and he never said a word. As a matter of fact, when he was done, he NEVER told me the price of the lottery. I had to look at the printed slip to see my lottery total. When he handed back my change, he never said a word. No, thank you, good luck or anything! As I was walking out the door another white customer entered and he again IMMEDIATELY greeted him. I will NEVER visit this location again. His RACIST attitude was on full display and in full action, and it was noticeable!!!! As a black male, I was very surprised. The employee was either a normal employee or it could have been the OWNER of the store. He was an Indian guy.

Surprisingly good hot food. Expensive convenience items and snacks but the beer and hot food is great!
