Sweet and Spicy Cauliflower
Spicy Fried CAULIFLOWER Bao Buns
Banh Mi - Lunch combo. Grilled chicken has some really good flavor! Not the best I've had but still pretty solid..
Spicy Fried Chicken Bao Bun - Meh, wasn't a fan unfortunately. Cold chicken, not that spicy & buns were doughy.

It might have been beneficial that we arrived around 2pmish. One benefit is the menu special valid till 4pm. You get one mini appetizer and a choice on entree for only $14.00.Hubby ordered Mama's Mini and Red Curry. My choice was thr shrimp roll and Pagoda Noodles.Started off with the special, Lychee Mojito.Impressed that we were being serviced by the bartender. By the same token, it was a little perplexing since there were 2 other people that seemed to be working the floor. For having to juggle bartending and wait service, Donnabell did an awesome job.The portion of the appetizer seemed small, but in reality it's a perfect bite for the combo. My mojito had a perfect balance that if I didn't have the will power could have easily ordered 2 more.Hubby said his spring roll was ok but noticed my shrimp roll seemed larger. He said the balance of heat on the red curry was just right. He said it gives enough on heat without losing the flavor of the dish.My noodles was practically perfect. There were a couple of bites that kicked in a little more sweetness than preferred in a pad Thai dish. The portion size was perfect that filled me just enough to leave room fir dessert. For dessert, I went with the Ube Mango Sticky Rice. And never had I ever done a happy dance on a dessert till now. The portion is more than enough for two. Thus, I have leftovers (big grin).Whoever designed this place did a great job in their though process. From the mirrors on the wall to give the larger room illusion, the map that highlights District 6 (which explains their name), to the little flower bix window near the kitchen. This place had been on my bookmark list for some time and now will remain on the favorites list.Military discount applies to one service member per ticket and it's an impressive one.For those who follow me know 5 stars is hard to come by me on reviews. Just know that I am somewhat partial due to my preference on Asian flavors. Yet, even so, this place would have me as a regular if it wasn't so far from where I live.Next visit in the St Matthews area will definitely include a stop here!

I've been here twice and both times I ordered the same thing (Bahn Mi - Fried Chicken) because it was delicious. I'm all about flavor and this definitely had it. They asked if I wanted it spicy, which of course I said yes - but be careful haha. They give you these little red peppers which are super spicy! But for sure add some great flavor. The other item I've ordered is the Sweet N Spicy Cauliflower. I found it to be quite tasty! Perfectly fried and had a nice heat to it. The service was great, very attentive and made sure I had my water filled before I could finish a glass. The ambiance is great. The first night I went in it was super steamy in there, but I didn't mind because it was cold and snowy outside. You definitely get hit with all the good smells of food as soon as you walk in!

The menu has changed since we had last been here and my friend was disappointed that the Bo Ne fries had changed to be a vegan dish. He is firmly against tofu so he ordered the Crispy Pan fried vegetable dumplings (filled with vegetables, topped with crispy shallots, fried garlic and green onion). Unusual but very delicious! My entree was the red curry chicken (sweet potatoes and onion topped with cilantro) served with noodles. Very filling and warm which was welcoming on a chilly night. Still a great place and I will be back to try other things!

A bit sad that quality has gone down a bit since previous visits. We ordered:- Short rib pho: both bowls came with short ribs that were not tender, in the past they were fall off the bones.- ca ri: their ca ri had plantain and yuca?! PLEASE ADD DESCRIPTIONS IF YOU'RE GOING TO BUTCHER THE DISH. I was so happy to get Vietnamese ca ri and then I was utterly disappointed. This ca ri should come with a warning. the broth was decent though. I took it home to add carrots and potatoes.- fried fish with tamarind sauce: in the past the fish came with tamarind sauce. What happened?- fried shrimp rolls- mama's mini spring rollsThe specials board said they have canh chua, they did not.I was pretty disappointed. But, I understand!

Friendly staff. Can't go wrong with ordering a few shareable plates, especially the friend chicken banh mi (just the right amount of heat). Drinks are delicious but also on the sweet side if that's your thing.

If you are in the mood for some good Vietnamese food then try District6! I had the stir fried noodles with beef and it was delicious. I've had their short rib pho which was really big lol. Definitely coming back here for more meals! And my friend ordered the pagoda noodles. Parking however can be tricky and I came here when it snowed so the sidewalks and parking was hard to find.

The food and ambiance is good. I had the short rib pho and bao buns. We ordered salmon but they brought out chicken that we didn't know what it was then 20 minutes later they told us it was not salmon then brought out the salmon bao buns and they were not good. But, chicken was on point. I just think they rushed the salmon ones since they made the mistake.

I wanted to try the food here because they're very gluten free friendly (menu items are marked), and it was a pretty great experience! I got there a few minutes before my colleague, and the hostess seated me right away. The decor was very cute and fun, with colorful chairs and lantern hanging from the ceiling. The menus that were brought to the table were stained with a sauce that got on me, indicating they hadn't been wiped down. Mistakes happen. Our server was very friendly and attentive, along with the other staff who came out frequently to clear off dishes. Everyone was very kind and courteous. We got the Papaya Salad with Shrimp as our appetizer, and it was pretty good, but not quite as flavorful and authentic as Vietnamese or Thai papaya salads I've had outside of a restaurant. I got the Short Rib Pho and I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was! It tasted like it'd been cooking for a really long time, and I could taste all of the spices in the very tender beef. The portion was very generous and it was piping hot when they brought it out (just how I like it). The server was also kind enough to bring me gluten free hoisin sauce, jalapeños, sriracha, and chili oil, which made it even more delicious! I would definitely get this again. My friend orders takeout from here says she likes the friend chicken bao buns and spicy bacon fried rice, too. All in all, this is a great place to try different dishes and it's very gluten free and vegetarian/vegan friendly!

I've never had Vietnamese food before but wanted to be try them after loving their contribution to Taste of Louisville! WOW! What amazing flavor! I got the shrimp and garlic noodles and the flavor blew me away! I also loved the beef lettuce wraps! I did do takeout so I cannot speak on the restaurant itself but next time I'll definitely enjoy my food there!

After a recent experience that opened me up to pho, I decided to try it at another place. Unfortunately, I was not the biggest fan of the pho here. I ordered the beef and meatball pho as well as the district 6 wontons. The wontons were good, albeit spicy. It certainly has a kick to it that not everyone can handle, but beyond that it tasted great. However, I did not enjoy the pho. I've never been a big fan of pho because of how oily and fatty it tasted, but a recent good experience opened me up to trying it once more. However, it seems that pho has to be very clean and not so greasy for me to enjoy it. While I personally did not enjoy the pho here, I'm sure there are many people who don't have as strict a palette for pho that do enjoy it.The environment was very nice. It is very clean and beautiful on the inside, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. It's in a great location and has huge windows that allow a lot of natural light in but the darker interior allows for a more atmospheric mood.Although I had my own personal issues with pho, District 6 was a good place all in all. It's a great environment that has good food that I'm sure many will enjoy.
