Design Space

It makes me really sad to have to write this review. My friend's wedding took place this past weekend in this venue and if you're looking to book a wedding I implore you to look elsewhere.Not one thing went right here for my poor friend. She had booked this place well in advance and had communicated details with the lady in charge well in advance. Firstly, we all arrived at around 2:30pm and the place was visibly unclean and untidy. There was someone mopping floors as people were coming in, they were woefully unprepared. There weren't enough seats for everyone, an alarming amount of people were standing up for the ceremony. In addition, the lady wouldn't let anyone touch the thermostat; everyone was drenched in sweat as it was 100+ degrees outside. Even the cake was sweating. There was no ice for the drinks--or drinks for that matter! People were literally going across the street to the liquor store to get stuff. All of these details were NOT oversights of the bride, they were things that were communicated to the venue and the venue did not follow through on. To cap it all off, the bride attempted to file a complaint and get a refund (in the MIDDLE OF HER WEDDING) and the lady there would not even entertain it. As a matter of fact, SHE CALLED THE POLICE ON HER. The venue was rented until 8pm and people were deserting way early, like 5:30pm, because it was that much of a disaster. The bride was in tears, on what was supposed to be the most special day of her life. I strongly urge you to take your business elsewhere if you are looking for an event space.

The space is just ok, the floors are concrete and have multiple chips and small holes and no kitchen. Was planning a surprise party for my mom and had a hard time finding a good space that had availability for the day I needed so I couldn't be to picky. So I went ahead and booked the space. Prior to the day of the party my sister had scheduled a time to go look at the place (we had only seen picture). They were supposed to meet at 12 noon and when she got there the owner wasn't there, didn't get to see the place and talk to the owner face to face until 1:30. (First strike). My sister spoke with the owner and told her how many tables we needed. We had to let her know how many tables to bring out ahead of time because once she left we would not have access to get more . The party was on a Saturday. We were supposed to get into the space to start set up at 5pm. A friend was there at 4:45pm to start getting things set up for us. I got there at 5:15pm and we weren't able to fully start setting up because her and (I'm assuming her husband) were still cleaning. (Second strike) The floors were soaking wet like they just threw water on the floor. There was a crying toddler walking around and standing in the middle of the floor and there were two girls sitting on one of the couches. So a total of five people in the way of our set up. They were not out of our way until 5:30pm. (Third strike) I start putting tablecloths on tables and notice we don't have all the tables, I had to run outside to catch her and ask for the rest of the tables we were supposed to have. I was irritated but still didn't make anything a big issue. After the party we clean up and complete her break down list of how to leave the space for a refund of the $200 deposit. We get ready to leave and I notice that on the break down list there are no instructions on how to lock the door. I texted the owner and she gives me the code for a lock box that has the key. The code isn't working so I call her. She had given me the wrong code smh. Before hanging up she states I will be in tomorrow around noon to check the space and as long as everything is fine I will go ahead and send your deposit back. Sunday comes and goes and I hadn't received the deposit back. It is now Tuesday evening and I still hadn't received the deposit, so I text her. She responded with "Yes, will send now." The deposit was never sent. (Fourth strike) It is now the following Monday, a week and two days after the party and six days from when she said "sending now". Again I texted her asking about the deposit and she never responded. The next day Tuesday I sent her a Zelle request, still nothing(Fifth strike). Finally at 12:08am Thursday morning I am at work and get a notification of a $200 Zelle deposit. The fact that it took almost 2 weeks after my event to receive my deposit back and a full week after you told me you were sending it is completely unacceptable. Not to mention that she ignored me for three days. Would not recommend and will never book with her again.

Not a place I'd even bother with in the future. Booked for a baby shower & was canceled two days before due to overbooking. Not sure how they decided who would keep the reserved time. I wouldn't bother!
