Daughters' Southern

We FINALLY made it to Daughter's Southern to try their buffalo cauliflower, and it was as good as the hype! As a bonus, they just happened to have street corn, which I just happened to be craving. (It wasn't on the menu, so ask!) The mac n cheese was creamy and a fabulous compliment to the cauliflower. Track them down on their Facebook page and give them a try! You'll be glad you did!

This "food truck" without the truck was set up outside of Wise Bird Cidery when we stopped by recently. The food was amazing! My boyfriend and I first tried Daughters Southern at Pivot (another cidery) a few years ago and now we are absolutely hooked. They make a fried cauliflower that will make you want to eat cauliflower at every meal. Seriously, my boyfriend ate three servings of it. It has a sweet chili sauce and ranch dressing on it and it is wonderful. Our friend got the pblt (pork belly, lettuce, and tomato) and loved it, too. The people are so sweet, the food is amazing, the prices are decent...it's just a treat when we can find them. I hope they'll be hanging out at more cideries and breweries in Lexington soon!

Today we tried the food truck fare. The burgers are delicious, as are the potato salad and the buffalo cauliflower! YUM!!

Burgers were over cooked and dry, fries were soggy and burnt, mac n cheese and coleslaw had no flavor, cauliflower wings were mush, and pudding tasted like it was out of a box. I have never left a bad review for food before as my husband is a chef and I know how that would affect him and his buisness, but for $60 for lunch I could not look past every aspect of our meal being bad. I hope it was just an off day and I wish them luck in the future, but I will not be returning.

Chris and his crew at Daughters' Southern did an amazing job with the food for our wedding. We talked to traditional caterers, but weren't finding the flavor and variety we were hoping to provide our guests. Chris offered amazing food and a broader menu than many traditional wedding caterers were willing to work with. The set-up meant guests received hot, freshly made-to-order food on their own schedule through the reception, and could go back for seconds or thirds (though with the generous portions, I'm not sure many took advantage of this). We received numerous positive comments on the food. Additionally, and importantly, Chris was very easy to work with through this process and let us customize the menu to fit our preferences. We would whole-heartedly recommend him for any food and event related needs.
