I don't give 5 stars normally..I wait a few visits before I decide to give a good review. We've ordered several Pizza's for Work parties and today I was able to pick the order up.The Staff is TERRIFIC. Friendly, helpful, gave us perfect.. yes perfect service. This place will be on our "go to" list for regular outings with family and friends. I'm not a "fan" of many businesses but this is a small business I am a fan of.And the pizza is great.. service was just "icing on the cake".

I wanted something delicious and easy for my birthday dinner with my family this year. So I thought of my favorite pizza in Louisville, Danny Mac's! And for the first time, we sat in the courtyard just outside its main doors at Mellwood Art Center. On a warm fall night, this was delightful. The kids had enough room to run around a bit, having fun looking at the big art pieces that surround the space, while we could sit, drink beer and eat pizza. The Cracksticks continue to be my absolute favorite. Even if it's just my small family eating dinner from Danny Mac's, these are a carb-filled, dripping-in-garlic must. And we got a basic pepperoni pizza, though the Hawaiian, Chicken Bacon Ranch and Meats pizzas are also delightful. From the crust to the toppings, everything is consistently perfect. Danny Mac's also has decent beer on tap, or you can get a bottle of Ale-8. A true Louisville food staple. So thankful for it.

Here's the thing about Danny Mac's -- it's good, and its price point is pretty low, low enough that Danny Mac can compete with the cheapo chains. No one would call it artisinal, but the ingredients aren't crappy either, and the bake is good. It's been a number of years since Danny Mac's graduated from outsider-underground status to local institution. The fact that it has remained an anchor business at Mellwood for as long as it has also speaks to the fact that it must be well-run. The bottom line is simple. Danny Mac has loaded down a lot of people with a lot of grease and cheese for quite a long time, and the product is a nice one.I'm probably past the age where I should ever think about ordering the crack sticks, even to share with others. But I love Danny Mac's in its current spot. Do yourself a favor. Treat yourself to a couple slices, and grab an excellent beer across the path at Butchertown Brewing. Sit outside on the patio where, blissfully, there is no car traffic. And pat yourself on the back that it didn't cost you much even if you tip well.

I would fist fight a bear for their pizza. Yes really.I got one of their specials, something with bbq and burnt ends, and now I'm a fan. They put their whole heart into this pizza. It was tasty, greasy, and hefty. Overall I felt like a pos after eating it because there's no way something so amazing could be a smidge good for you. It isn't, but I don't mind. This is a hefty fully loaded type of pizza, and I day dream about it. The only reason I haven't been back is because I havnt eaten pizza in the past month or so. I will be back, I vow it.Enough of the dramatics, go try their pizza. It's good but pricey. Worth it.

Stopped in here with several friends while visiting the Mellwood Art Center for VegFest in June and ordered a buffalo chicken calzone. Tasty and toasty and took over 1/2 of it home because it was enormous. The restaurant has several large screen TVs able to be seen in two separate dining room areas. Great place to view a sporting event. Tables are ample and plenty of seating. Air conditioning felt great today during the heat wave. I tried a bottled orange soda made with pure cane sugar and it was a refreshing and delicious rare treat. Service is fast with counter ordering and payment, then take a number to place on the table, and food is brought out fairly fast. Staff were all very nice and polite.

This gem at the Mellwood is now a family favorite. We ate here after viewing my cousins wedding venue. The staff treated us warmly and put up with our overwhelming bunch (my twin toddler cousins running around, their big brother chasing them, and all of the adults in our group talking many decibels too loud). Everyone loved the food (the cheese bread is huge and mouthwatering) and the pricing was very fair. I wish we had a location closer to home so I can get it more often, but will not hesitate to swing by if I'm ever in the area.

Great service. Pizza was a little bit pricey, but every bite was well worth. The prices of the old menu pictures are outdated. I will definitely come back for more. The bartender gave me a 5 diamond caliber treatment. Thank you. The restroom super clean. Ambiance was acceptable

This is a cool little pizza place. The pizza is right up there if not the best around. The breadsticks are the bomb. I could eat those everyday. It's a must try.

Danny Mac's was recommend to us by my tattoo artist for a quick bite in between stenciling and starting the tattoo. It was conveniently just downstairs from his studio in the courtyard and had recently been voted best pizza in town. The man ringing us up had a great accent and sense of humor and our food came out fairly quick since they weren't too busy. We enjoyed our lunch on the patio and even had leftovers to snack on the rest of the appointment. I ordered a build your own pizza with sausage and my friend had a sandwich and salad. We also tried their garlic bread, which came in a huge portion! Bonus points for having one of my fave ginger beers to wash it down with. I didn't try other pizza this trip to know if it's the *best* in town, but it certainly didn't disappoint. Great spot to break for snacks while exploring the many shops at Mellwood.

The pizza takes the top prize as best in Louisville! It's obvious as soon as you take a bite. You can taste the difference. They use the best quality ingredients and they give you plenty of it! My favorite go to is the "Combo" pizza! So good, I can't say enough!
