Coals Artisan Pizza

I feel like sometimes coals doesn't get the credit it deserves or it gets overlooked (guilty!), but dang every time I come here I am not disappointed. I am a big fan of a pizza crust done right, and Coals crust always hits the mark. They're always perfectly cooked, service is great, and there's a variety of excellent pizza options whether you're a classic pepperoni toppings kind of person or feeling slightly adventurous. We came here for pizza week and I'm so glad we did, because it reminded me I need to come here more! I got the St Matthews pizza - SO good!! Also, my friend is celiac and they have gluten free crust options, which is MEGA bonus points in my book! Not enough restaurants are prepared to accommodate for celiac disease, so we love to see the inclusive menu options!

Friendly and welcoming. Outdoor patio seating available when weather permits. A second floor space is available for private/corporate events. A bar is also available to eat/drink at. Awesome bartender!!Delicious appetizers. My favorite is the stuffed mushrooms with sausage.My go to salad is the house with balsamic vinagrette. The croutons are home made and are tasty. There is a wide rage of delicious wood fired pizzas. Our top one is the Middletown.Very highly recomendedSlainte

Great atmosphere even better wings. I come to coals every Wednesday for whiskey Wednesdays. Best bourbon drink specials you can get.

Always a great experience. The cauliflower pizza was on point. The wings and the salad were simply amazing. Outdoor Seating a plus. Service was good. Pretty loud and cold inside, outside seating the remedy.

This place was perfect for a rainy day! Very much a hidden gem, the vibes were so nice like inside gave date night not much seating very intimate I also like you could sit outside too! The food was really good I should've added the chili honey drizzle to balance out all the meats but the wings we good I really liked the ranch. Our server was to the point and I like that.

Food. Togo order was complete, but seriously, 6 pieces of limp, brown lettuce as a "wedge." I should have stuck with pizza. And one would think Togo salads would have the dressing on the side...but my guess is they wanted to hid the brown limp iceberg.

Service was phenomenal from beginning to end -- we arrived at 7 pm on a Tuesday evening, the place was full. The hostess was direct in letting us know the wait could be awhile. We appreciated that and since we were still waiting on our friend to arrive, knowing he'd be a bit late, we opted to wait. The bartender helps us while we waited. Upon being seated the server was friendly and prompt. All around great service!The food arrived fairly quick -- makes sense they're just pizzas. We got the crescent hill and Seneca. Both were good, we preferred the Seneca for the amount of vegetables (just a personal preference). Their crust is actually edible; my partner does not typically like crust especially if too doughy. Theirs is a bit crispy, not doughy -- thin and had a good fire char.We'd definitely return.

I was shocked by how much I enjoyed Coals. I was expecting pretty plain pizza. The night we came, there was quite literally a line out the door. We were lucky enough to be seated quickly. Drinks promptly followed. The cocktails we ordered were subpar. I definitely recommend a beer.We started with arancini, like fried cheese balls. On their own, they lack flavor. Just a ball of texture. Add some marinara dipping sauce, red pepper flakes and Parm and you get an appetizer with eating. However, I don't want to have to do that much work to make my food enjoyable.The pizza was delightful. The crust was delicious. It could use more of the sauce which was fabulous.While I enjoyed Coals, there are better bargains available. The value proposition will likely deter me from a future visit.

Upscale pizza restaurant. Large bar and great outdoor seating Love how all the pizza is named after places around Louisville. Highly recommend the Iroquois and Anchorage pizza! The service has always been friendly.

Food was overcooked and the restaurant had to be understaffed cause exceptionally long wait. The servers were decent but when complaining about the noise to manager he just didn't take any action. The appetizer stuffed mushroom was highlight of my visit here.
