Friendly, attentive service. Clean. Excellent food. Sag paneer: Great.Garlic naan: Great.Chicken madras: Great.Lamb tikka masala: Great. We were cautioned not to go too hot on a couple dishes, and I regret taking the waiter's advice about it. One dish that we ordered "hot" was tasty, but could have been a bit hotter.Lesson learned. We'll be back.

This restaurant looks really nice, both inside and out. They got our pick-up order correct, and it was ready on time. That said, the food was just ok. We got four entrees, including the chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, and lamb pasanda. Each one was decent, but could've used more flavor. The best part of the meal was the naan, especially the peshawari naan. Absolutely delicious. But, overall, the food was uneven, which results in my three star score.

The service and ambiance were great at Clay oven. I visited on a Wednesday evening and there were plenty of people eating and carrying out, which means that my opinion of the food is probably not shared. I ordered saag paneer and was disappointed both by the flavor, which was oddly a little sweet, and also by how little cheese was in my dish. Especially for a vegetarian dish, I like to see more paneer. I know it's relatively inexpensive for restaurants, certainly not as costly a protein as meat, and when a dish doesn't have enough I begin to feel like I'm hoarding what was included. Also I prefer my garlic naan have more garlic, just my personal taste. I was excited to try Clay Oven, but I'll stick with my regular Indian places in the future.

I loved this place! I was craving Indian food and needed something close by after an appointment, so i called an order to go. They were so friendly, fast, and efficient. Despite it being a busy Friday night, they were able to provide me quality service and food. I got the chicken tikka masala and it was incredible-- packed with flavor and delicious. The restaurant was full of people and very authentic space, so I will absolutely be back to try other options soon.

It was easy to order takeout online and food was ready as expected. We had a decent sized order and they got it correct. The Peshawari naan was delicious. There is a good variety of options. The mild spiciness isn't spicy at all. I enjoyed the dishes and would give it a 3.5, so I'll round it up to 4.

I did not visit this establishment in person, therefore, I am unable to provide information about their service or the ambience. I tried delivery on 8/28/24 (via GrubHub because they do not directly deliver to my area).I ordered the Shrimp Patia mild, Aloo Gobi mild, and 6-piece Papadum. The Shrimp Patia had an excellent flavor, however, the consistency was extremely runny, more like a broth than like a curry, and it only included 5 shrimp that were rubbery. The Aloo Gobi was bland, although the cauliflower and potatoes were cooked to the perfect texture. I've had mild Aloo Gobi from other Indian restaurants that had loads of flavor, so I am confident it was not bland because it was ordered as mild. The 6-piece Papadum were burnt and inedible and I threw them away. The cost of their meals on GrubHub is $2.00 more per dish ordered, but even at the establishment's normal prices of $17.99 for Shrimp Patia, $12.99 for Aloo Gobi, and $3.99 for Papadum, I feel it is overpriced for the flavor, texture, and quantity provided.Overall, I will not be ordering food from this establishment again or even bother driving to the actual business either.

I've always wanted to eat here and finally checked it out for lunch! It's a great atmosphere with booths and table tops. The tables all have white table cloths and feel very clean. There are TVs but the volume isn't too high. Your meal comes to you on a little cart and is served on the most beautiful dishes! And what makes it even better is the food is AMAZING! I ordered the Dal Tadka medium heat (vegan) and it was perfect! Loads of flavor on top of each other and just enough kick - and it paired wonderfully with the rice provided! I also could not leave without trying the garlic naan - and I suggest you don't either! I would eat that garlic naan every day if I could! The service was also nice! A lovely spot for lunch or dinner!

Clay Oven isn't the closest Indian restaurant to home, but it's become our favorite. Located, rather unassumedly, in a retail strip area on Shelbybille Rd in Middletown, Clay Oven is more than you expect when you walk in.We've never had to wait to get seated at Clay Oven, even though we always visit on Friday evenings. The interior is warm and welcoming, with all of the tables set nicely with a clean, white tablecloth, red cloth napkins, and pristine water glasses. The décor is very Indian without being overdone. The background music is at a comfortably low volume and doesn't require talking over.Clay Oven's menu is pretty sizable and quite varied. In all our visits I've only ever ordered from the Indo-Chinese Specialties section, and never been disappointed. The Paneer Chili was my favorite (who knew cheese could be so flavourful?), the Chicken Mo-Mo, and the Jungle Kebobs have been my favorite. Each dish (not all at the same time...these were different visits) served hot and fresh. There's something about the smell of Indian food that is just amazing.Their Garlic Naan? INCREDIBLE!The staff has always been friendly and helpful.Clay Oven is a pretty laid-back, genuine Indian restaurant that you can't go wrong with.

This is probably my favorite Indian in the Louisville area now, after having gone to several other places. I shared with my partner the chicken tikka masala and Gobi Manchurian. Both of these were excellent. I got medium spice on the tikka but I think I'd probably up it the next time, not a gripe as I think with Indian you just have to get a feel for the place the first time when it comes to the spice level. The chicken was moist and the sauce was very tasty. The gobi was extremely good, might have been the best version of that I've had so far. Service was good even though it was fairly busy and they did not have much staff.
