Chicken House

Our Brotherhood Luncheon was held today with 14 on board.Allie was our friendly, helpful, energetic server. Some ordered appetizers, including fried okra.I ordered 2 fried chicken breasts, mashed potatoes, green beans and a better roll with better butter. I say better because it the roll and butter are better than they used to be.I notice these things and had mentioned rolls and butter in the past.My chicken was the Best I ever had. Tasty, crunchy skin with tender, moist meat. I heard another brother state his pirk chop was the Best he ever had. Others stated the chicken livers are the Best anywhere. The special was cod nuggets and fries which I had before and enjoyed. Another brother ordered chicken tenders and really liked them and had some left over. Another brother ordered the salad with chicken and said he REALLY enjoyed it. Their salad is HUGE. I ordered it once and was stuffed once I got through it. Our party had a wonderful time and look forward to coming back. There is a beautiful new parking lot and indoor and outdoor eating areas added recently. The Chicken House has really come long way from it's historical roots. I'd say it is our groups favorite dining location in Southern Indiana and we have been to MANY.

Another nice visit to the Chicken House for fish this time. Had the fish dinners for both of us! One with German coleslaw and other with green beans.Service outstanding and food was great!Decent beer choices and prices.If you haven't been try for a unique experience!

Worth the drive from Louisville to a bustling country dining restaurant between Sellersburg and New Albany. Lots of tables (some booths) and a bar attached.They pride themselves on the fried chicken which my better half fully enjoyed. I could hear the crunch from across the table but he said it was no way close to being dry. The portion satisfied him as well.I started out with the hand breaded mushrooms that I saw so many tables of people munching on...WOW...I was surprised at how delicious they were. Followed up with a hand breaded pork tenderloin. It would have been better if I hadn't filled up on the mushrooms. The tenderloin breading was a little salty for my taste...but it was fresh so points there.Our waitress was the nicest lady and checked often enough but wasn't a pest.A great bonus was they have Big Red and if you know...you know!This will be the go to for us when we want some country cookin!!!

I tried the Grilled Pork Chop this time very good potatoes with white gravy didn't know they charged extra for gravy but it's good, the green beans and 2 glasses of sweet Marcella wine ~ Sat In the bar for the first time ~ had a date with myself Service good Ambiance ok ~Signed the Cancer Chair

I finally tried something other than all the chicken options which are always good.You need to come at lunch on a Friday. No other restaurants that I know of offer bluegill fillets . It brings back memories of catching a stringer of bluegills as a kid and getting to eat them for dinner that night. Such a great change I'll be back for more when ever I can talk myself into not doing the best chicken liver's and gizzards.

This place is in the middle of the country. We pulled in and the parking lot was full. No wait though for our party of 13. Our server and all the staff was so friendly. It's in what seemed to be an old farmhouse. So cute. The food was southern at its best. I got the fried chicken two thighs and a drumstick. For sides mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans. All so delicious. The green beans were perfect southern style (not steamed and crunchy). My husband got smoked bologna sandwich with pimento cheese on top. My cousin got an appetizer of fried mushrooms and was talking about how good they were so my husband tried some and said they were the best mushrooms he's ever had. Highly recommended.

My mom and I love chicken gizzards and I took her here on her birthday for lunch! Sat in the bar area and the bartender was awesome! Nice place, ice cold beer goes perfect with salty yummy fried chicken!!

This restaurant has a great reputation locally and I can say confidently that it lives up to its hype! I placed a large carryout order and it was finished at the specified time, everything was correct, and the food was delicious! In particular the chicken and greens were amazing! The prices are reasonable and the portion sizes are good. For old school local residents, the chicken here is the closest I've had to what Southside Inn used to serve.The menu has so many options, so I look forward to eating here again and trying more great food!

We had lunch at the Chicken House and it was very good. We liked the bright, comfortable dining area and had great service with Libby as our server. She was friendly and professional so that made our meal even more enjoyable.

Fabulous menu. The food was fresh and full of flavor. Down home cooking at its best. The service was excellent. Servers were so polite and attentive. Highly recommended.
