We had a lovely 2-night stay at Charred Oaks Inn, a grand historic house in Versailles that's convenient to Keeneland, multiple bourbon distilleries (Woodford, Castle & Key and Buffalo Trace) and Lexington. The house has been restored by owners/hosts Pamela and Richard, whose renovation strikes the right balance between maintaining the home's historic integrity while making it feel up to date. It was a peaceful, blissfully quiet respite to come back to after a busy day of activities. Our room was spacious, comfortable and bright, and the bed was terrific. Pamela and Richard are accommodating and responsive without being intrusive and provide guests with lots of treats for the taking, like an early evening wine and cheese spread and a nightly dessert. Breakfast, which you get to choose the night before, was delicious and filling (I highly recommend the baked oatmeal). In sum, Charred Oaks is a real gem!

Just leaving from a 2-day stay. Pamela and Richard were excellent hosts providing warm accommodations with fine amenities. Her breakfast is absolutely scrumptious- I'm stealing her baked oatmeal recipe for sure! They're also very knowledgeable about the area and things to do and restaurants to explore. I'd highly recommend Charred Oaks Inn for your next Lexington area stay!!

My husband and I just spent a lovely overnight here after winning a stay at an auction. Pamela and Richard could not have been any nicer and so very welcoming. Our bedroom with its own large bathroom was beautifully decorated and so very plush-even had plush robes hanging in the closet for our use! Mini refrigerator was stocked with sodas that we mentioned we liked. We arrived around 3 and went to our room. About an hour later our picnic basket was ready. The sandwiches and cupcakes were DELICIOUS! The next morning our breakfast included a croissant with some kind of blueberry compote and cheese filling with crisp bacon. OMG! The homemade food at Charred Oakes is worth the stay. What a lovely time in a beautiful BnB with very gracious hosts.

We stayed at the Charred Oaks Inn while on the Bourbon Trail in mid September. Richard and Pamela were wonderful. From the moment they opened the front door to the morning of our departure, they were very welcoming. Their knowledge of the history of the area, recommendations for restaurants and local businesses, and afternoon picnic baskets were incredible. The room was very cozy and warm. Pamela's homemade breakfasts were amazing (and this is an understatement). I would highly recommend staying at this lovely Inn!!!

Surprised my wife with a two-day get-away for our 20th anniversary. Upon our arrival at Charred Oaks, Pamela and Richard met us at the door. They gave us a tour of their Inn and surprised us by having fresh cut roses in our room. Breakfasts were awesome and amenities were great. We really liked the wet bar with wine, beers, and assorted drinks. The special touches included afternoon cheese and wine, nightly dessert (which were different both nights) and optional breakfast in bed just to name a few. Their suggestions on places to visit and restaurants were extremely helpful. Unexpected bonus was having directions printed for the places we wanted to visit. I highly recommend the Charred Oaks and look forward to our next visit. Ken O.
