This rink looks upgraded or new! The kids loved the lights, arcade games, and DJ. The music was great. This was my favorite rink in Louisville, KY. The only thing this rink needs is a Adult night. My husband and I are from Louisiana and trying to keep skating alive! We bring our own Harlick Roller Skates made in California, USA. For the past 10+ years we have made it our goal to skate in each state! We love to JAM, slow walk, and couple dance skate on Adult Skate Night. Also, I enjoy a shiny smooth hard wood floor to dance on. Always on any adult night skating in the USA check their website. Many roller rinks allow skaters to buy tickets or sign a risk waiver to skate before arrival.First, I have to say I skated on teen night. The line was very long to enter the building. It was cold which made the wait time undesirable. After paying to skate, I was checked for any knives or guns. The metal detectors made me feel a bit safer. The security team was kind but no nonsense. This place is huge. The positive energy at this rink was exquisite. I encourage you to look at my photos.

Attended Champs for a birthday party on a Saturday for a 6-year old for the first time. It's definitely kid friendly and was packed. The only "warning" I would give is renting the push roller for little kids. There was a waitlist and unfortunately my son couldn't skate until one became available. If you get the birthday package with the room, plan your time accordingly because you get it for 45 mins (which flies by!). Overall, the staff was really nice and I would visit again.

I get a bit nostalgic when someone talks about rollerskating. Back in the day, this is where I hung out with friends, speed skated to the best music, requested a favorite song and did the hokey pokey. Over the weekend I took my 7 yr old to a classmate's birthday party. Check in at the front door was quick. We were handed a skate rental pass and directed to the party room. The rooms are basic - brightly painted with a kitchen sink, long table and chairs, plus a spot to set up your cake. My friend had taped a few decorations to the wall and set out plates and napkins so she could serve cake to the kiddos. We were in the room for approx. 1 hr before the kids asked to go skating and our party had to clear out for the next birthday kid.The skate rental attendant was fast to get out skates for our group. My son wears a 3.5 shoe and he recommended going down a size. That worked well. I appreciated that the skates were in good shape, laces and all. Also key for my son was renting a trainer. A trainer is made of PVC and looks like your grandma's walker with wheels. It's very lightweight but gives the kids something to hold and help balance while learning to skate. My son was quite wobbly at first but within the hour he mastered using it on the carpet and later the rink, even without my help. One tip for parents, you may need to get behind your kid and lean on the trainer too until they get a feel for it. Parents can get on the rink floor in their shoes and help the kid, as long as you stay in motion. The trainer is $3/hour and the skate shop will call your name when time is up, and also when one becomes available. Champs offers snacks from pizza to pretzels and candy. They have lots of drinks, including 2 large vending machines. I rewarded my son with a slushie after he worked so hard staying upright. If you need to keep things locked up, lockers are available for rent (although most of us toss our shoes under a bench) and for those not interested in skating, arcade games are in the back near the party rooms. Skating is exactly how I remember it. Mostly a floor for skating where you could watch the DJ booth, two guards circling the floor helping people that fall, dirty carpet and tile, greasy food and video games. I will give extra props to the team for safety. One kid took a bad tumble and they immediately cleared the floor until he was checked out. Super scary, but everyone was so quiet and respectful, even clapping when he walked off the rink on his own. After going to a party, I wouldn't recommend renting the room unless it's the end all, be all for your kid. Our group was ready to skate and the party room kept them from doing that. I'd recommend paying for your kid's friends to get in, their skate rental and buying them a pizza. My son was super proud of himself and has already asked to go back. I'm pumped to take him and next time lace up myself.

Roller skating is such a lost treasure. I did not have the best examples of places to skate growing up, which were trashy, dirty places in Shepherdsville (Sad but true.) Therefore, it kind of painted a picture in my head that that's how roller skating rinks were in general. But I'm thankful to have a nice place like Champ's to show me that there are still good places to roller skate that are well kept. We live incredibly close to this Champ's, so we kinda just decided 'why not' and came here. I imagined in my head being surrounded by crazy, screaming kids and careless employees, but it wasn't really like that. They have an early evening session and a later evening session (after 8 p.m.), where you can come in and there won't be as many children there. The prices aren't bad, about $13 for admission and skates. They also have a concession stand with tons of snacks for pretty cheap. Their skating rink is nice. There is one spot on the floor that feels a little rough, but it never effected me too much. They recently got rid of the walls around the rink, which I'm not sure why, but I felt like I was going to run off into the chairs a few times because of that! Every once in a while they'll clear the rink and only have 'backward skating only' or 'speed skating only.' I'm not that advanced, but it was cool to watch all of the pro skaters go out there and do dances and whatnot. I also really liked how they always had staff out on the rink watching for people falling or doing things their not supposed to. There was one time someone got hurt and they immediately cleared the rink and helped her out! As far as cleanliness goes, Champ's isn't the worst, but there is definitely room for improvement. There were tons of dirty tables with leftover food all over them, candy wrappers shoved in seat cushions, etc. Champ's is probably the nicest roller skating rink that I've found so far in Louisville. It's a place that brings back tons of nostalgia!

Not very autism friendly, nor friendly in general. I have a son who is 14 & he's autistic. He's really scared & anxious on unstable surfaces, so we asked about using one of the assistance frames on wheels. They said it was for kids 12 & under, so I explained the situation. The employee then went to ask the manager, who just sent her back with a "no." She apologized, but I think it's a little shitty that the manager wouldn't atleast come apologize or explain why it was such an issue. Also, they want you to pay $4 an hour for those things! Here it is a Wednesday afternoon & there's less than 15 kids here, so I really don't understand the lack in kindness or attempt to be helpful. I would understand if it was a Saturday, lots of kids, or something. I also went to the snack bar & asked the employee if they were open 3x & all she did was walk to the register. I then asked if she heard me talking to her & she said, "yes". Ummm ok. Overall our experience was not the best, yet I still spent about $60 & tried to make the best of it for my kids. I'm not sure if we'll be back & I think anyone else who is thinking of bringing kids who have special needs should be aware! Also, there's not staff on the floor at all times. There wasn't any for a good chunk of our time there.

It's been remodeled and looks great!! It's so clean. The staff are in masks and take temps when you come in. There's someone walking around cleaning all the surfaces continuously too.
