We've been loyal IHG Rewards Club members for almost 30 years. So, I was surprised when the reservations person advised, after the booking was placed, there would be an "additional $10 hold" placed on my credit card, by the property. When asked, I was informed: "This $10 hold would cover any damage to the room caused by the occupant." When I objected, the reservations person suggested I speak to management at the property. Three days later, upon check-in at the property, a very polite front desk clerk again advised us of the additional $10 hold placed in the event there is damage to the room. Really? So, Candlewood Suites (and IHG) are willing to insult a customer's integrity for ten dollars. Who thought that one up?Once again, I objected, informing the clerk we were staying overnight to facilitate an early, 6:00 AM, medical appointment. However, I found explanation was an exercise in futility. Apparently, a lot of handicapped senior citizens in town for medical attention stay at this facility. Plus, they throw wild parties, resulting in damage to their rooms. (Sarcasm.) But, since we received a non-refundable early reservations room rate, we stayed.While our room was nicely appointed, it wasn't without issues. The room was situated at the very opposite end of the building from the front desk. (By the way, on Sunday at 5:30 PM the parking lot was almost empty.) However, according to the front desk clerk, there were only two other available rooms; neither of which were much closer to the elevator. Apparently, that's what we get for booking early at Candlewood Suites. (Sarcasm.) Once settled in the room, I attempted to use the recliner. However, I found the footrest release handle to be non-functioning. Not wanting to be charged for damaging their recliner, this was immediately reported to the front desk clerk. An offer was made to change out the non-functioning recliner. However, as my wife was already in bed, I declined the offer.With an anticipated 5:40 AM check-out time, we turned in around 10:00 PM. But, two hours later, at the stroke of 12 midnight, the bedside alarm clock / radio began blaring reggae music. Unable to silence the loud music, I unplugged the device. Then, at this gross interruption of our sleep, I personally delivered the pre-set device to the overnight front desk clerk with my compliments. (Sarcasm.) Hopefully, this isn't an example of the customer experience at all Candlewood Suites properties. But, after this, I'm certain in the future, we may need to stay elsewhere.

Great location. Very clean. Kind staff upon check in. Spacious suite with separate bedroom area and has a large walk in closet too. The kitchen had a two burner cooktop and dishwasher and refrigerator. You can cook in your room. Eat at the bathroom has two bar stools. Or relax on the couch or in the cozy chair. Near campus and across the street from the hospital. An IHG hotel!

I got myself into a situation where I needed a local hotel room and despite having only one Candlewood under by belt and that being a pretty bad experience, I booked this hotel because it had a great points redemption offer. I was fully expecting to have a place to sleep and shower, but not much else. Instead, I got one of the nicest hotel rooms l've had in a while. The bed was fantastic, the restroom spotless, tons of storage and power ports everywhere, and a room that was just smartly laid out for extended stays. In fact, after looking around, I couldn't find a single cleanliness issue anywhere. Even the provided dishes and laundry basket were spotless, something I can't say for most properties.Seriously, whoever cleaned this room didn't miss a single corner at all! Add in the great location and friendly customer service and you really have a winner.

Camilla was working at the front desk when we arrived approximately 8pm. She was very friendly. Check-in took less than 1 minutes. She offered her service for anything we may need while we were staying there. The king room suite was exceptionally clean. The mattress was probably the most comfortable we have slept on while traveling. Slim Chicken was right next door so very handy for some lunch or dinner. Located in a safe neighborhood. Will definitely stay here again if in the area

I wish I could remember the lady's name that checked me in. She was so nice and friendly. She works the morning shift and was just about to get off when I checked in, so I am sure she was tired and ready to leave. However, she was so friendly, professional, and made sure to give me some advice regarding some yummy local places to eat. The hotel is new, and it is clear it's new. The colors are bright, everything is very clean and in working order.The room was beautiful! Very very clean! I read some other reviews about the water, plumbing, and fridge door being "backwards." Yes, these are all true. Those things don't bother me, but I can so see how they could bother others. There is a dripping sound in the ventilation system of the bathroom, it does take a while for the water to heat up....even not in the prime time where guests shower, and the fridge door is situated so that you have to squeeze in between the wall and door to get stuff in and out. I am sure maintenance can fix all this, and hoping with enough people mentioning these things in reviews- the hotel management will put these items on the "to do" list. The reason for 4 stars regarding service? When I checked in, I was granted a late checkout due to our rewards status. Three times the morning of checkout housekeeping kept knocking on the door. I get 1 time, but I kept telling them I had a noon checkout and yet they kept knocking. It was VERY annoying and ticked me off. The afternoon front desk person, Sam, was definitely not friendly the way the morning person was. It was clear she did not want to be there and made no effort to apply friendly customer service.

I have traveled for work for 10+ years going from hotel to hotel and this place, by far, is the worst hotel experience of my life. No matter how many times I ask, no matter how I ask, the cleaning crew is a nightmare here. I've been here since late March (not by choice) and they have yet to clean my room. I've asked every day for weeks, they promise me it will be taken care of and then nothing ever happens. The only kind of room service I hve gotten is them dropping me off some sheets and I had to change them. In over 3 months, they hve not swept, wiped any thing down, changed my sheets at all and am constantly promised by Mary, the sad excuse for a manager, that I will be taken care of only to be blown off. To be fair, the front desk staff has been excellent but housekeeping has ruined this stay. I can't wait to move. If your going to be here longer than a week, look elsewhere.

They have new management. This hotel has the best crew, Megan, brenda, Madison, Maddie, pumpkin, goodie. They treated us with respect and were so sweet and friendly the entire time we were there. My dad had a transplant at UK so we were there for awhile. I wouldn't stay at any other hotel in Lexington. Clean hotel, and free laundry room. They even sat and listened to me when I needed to cry. Amazing team at this hotel!
