"This review is only based on the Southern sides. Having a ton of food allergies, I couldn't eat the fried chicken. I was, however, able to eat the Southern sides because they were made with turkey (no pork). I ordered four small sides: green beans, greens, mashed potatoes, and brown sugar-honey yams. All the sides were fantastic--especially the yams and greens. The mashed potatoes (no gravy) had a ton of butter, but were tasty. Looking forward to returning and trying the drinks."
"a true find - the bourbon collection, the skilled bartenders, the well-diversified menu that tasted great - and finally, very fair pricing - a winner off the beaten path"

"Tiny restaurant in Robinson, Illinois, down in a neighborhood, at 710 South Cross Street. Two Amish ladies are serving outstanding freshly made home cooking, buffet style. The fried chicken is plump, juicy, and fork tender. My husband had seconds on the meatloaf and he's not a big eater! Mashed potatoes are REAL mashed potatoes, and how do you make green beans so delicious? They also offered spaghetti, carrots, salads, and desserts but we filled up and couldn't eat anything else. Excellent food, we highly recommend."
"We stopped on a Monday evening after a dance lesson. I didn't realize it was spicy chicken until we were ordering. The server said it wasn't too spicy, so I took a chance. Unfortunately, it was too spicy for me. My tolerance is very low. The flavor was great, I just couldn't handle the heat! The sides were excellent though. The macaroni and cheese was moist and cheesy. The greens had great flavor - even my 13 month loved them. I jokingly told my husband if we came back I would just have to order from the kids menu."
"My first visit. Great cocktails and small bites with a crisp riesling white wine complimented tasty tender calamari dressed in slightly spicy sauce with wedge Fresh lemon. Service was a friendly a kind face who was attentive. Dining menu offered many options, as well as outdoor dinner for larger groups. Soft lighting mature chill vibe just right for a romantic date evening. Many seating choices. Comfortable couch's with table service. Amenities abound. Parking is lot on the small side. Highly recommend."
"Like on the moon - no atmosphere. To find this place , you have to look hard.i passed by it twice before i finally saw it.it's small and poorly decorated with not much if any atmosphere. this is basically a lil' mom&pop kind of place and the food i had was good but the surrounding really affected me to where i just did not enjoy it as much as i think i should.the prices & people were nice and if i go back, i'd get carry-out instead of dine-in."
"A great local restaurant! So nice to have a cozy spot a little bit further into downtown. The food is always so fresh. The sticky wings are always a go-to. The service and staff are overwhelmingly nice and make you feel right at home. The prices are a bit high for the area, but a special treat!"
"This place was mediocre at best. I wanted to love it, reminds me of the south with the set up hot bar. We stayed to eat. Order at the counter and seat yourself. There was no real menu, a guy behind us told us they had fish if you ask for it. They didn't give us hot sauce or silverware, we went back to the counter no one was there, so we just grabbed it ourselves. No one even came out lol."
"The food is out of this world. You have Japanese and American cuisine. You get it freshly cooked. The catfish is the best in Glasgow. There tartar sauce is homemade. They have lots of options. You can go from the best shrimp lo mein to battered country steak with mashed potatoes and peppered gravy. It is reasonable priced. The servings get you full. You have the choice of the best homemade sides. They have hush puppies or deep fried okra or Teriyaki chicken. You can call your food in over the phone and pick it up in drive thru. They are fast and fresh. They are the best place to go!"
"Used to love this place and used to get the chilaquiles with smoked chicken nearly every weekend, but it left the menu during Covid. After the recent reopening I saw it had returned to the (online) menu so I went in during brunch to revisit. Didn't see the smoked chicken as an option for the dish, but asked and was told I could get it, so I did. However what came out was the chilaquiles as on the menu without the chicken, and was given a separate bowl of not-smoked chicken tossed in some red sauce. So I had an $11 plate of chips with cheese and verde and Cisco chicken for $6. Disappointed the original dish didn't really return, and even more disappointed I was still sold it and was given a make-shift substitution. Just be honest. Oh well.Several other complaints, but I'll just leave it at that. Hate it because I was so excited."
"On a recent trip to Cincinnati we ate here twice. My family and I love Nashville hot chicken and appreciated that they had chicken thighs that were meaty and delicious. They also had a large variety of good tasting sides. The service was top notch. Taylor W waited on us both times and was very friendly and informative. The restaurant itself was nicely decorated, clean, and welcoming. We have tried a handful of other Nashville, hot chicken, restaurants, but Joella's is definitely one of our favorites. The food is very flavorful and you get a lot for the reasonable prices."
"The best home cooking in the area! Family owned and incredibly friendly, anything you order will be fresh, and just like your grandma made. Burgers are some of the best you'll find anywhere."

I have ordered from here several times and my favorite thing to order is the Honey Hot chicken, with baked beans and coleslaw. The honey hot chicken is always so delicious and the bases beans are probably the best I have ever had! Keep up the good work, and I Will definitely be back for more!

Actual fresh cooked to order spicy fried chicken! Was just what I was looking for tonight. Restaurant was clean, presented well and had a couple TVs going with the volume low, just enough to occupy your brain while you waited (very shortly) for the food. Wish they had something besides Diet Coke for a diet drink option but as good as the chicken was it would have taken something really bad to happen to pull even 1 star off this review.

My first time here and I must say, the ambience transported me to a calm, carefree destination in my mind.I had the perfect nachos, without cheeses or spicy elements (due to my dietary restrictions) and they were still delicious. The entire staff was pleasant and accommodating. After I ate, I sat and read my book for well over an hour. Will most definitely be returning here!

Stopped by on a Friday when we saw their sign for a fish fry. We got a cod sandwich & a catfish sandwich and both were fantastic! The collard greens were the best I think I've ever had. The price was reasonable & the service was very friendly.

"Update as we went three days in a row:They were very consistent. Every day our order was right, timely, tasty and good service. I'd triple recommend it now. :)"
"Formerly the Caddyshack now called Nana's Country Cookin' but just as good if not better than before! Great tenderloins and fish sandwiches. Small place with limited parking, I usually call ahead for carryout.https://www.facebook.com/Nanas-Country-Cookin-1084789434965917/?ref=page_internal"
"I'm 49 years old and 260 pounds, so believe me when I comment on food.Best grilled cheese of my life! Bacon jam is a winner! Great stop for lunch, will recommend this to anyone in the area. And a fantastic bourbon selection as well!"
"I came here twice for breakfast during my trip. Breakfast during the week didn't seem too crowded and the server let me know I could have a seat wherever. I loved the aesthetics of the bar/restaurant. Wood paneling, rustic, yet modern.Be warned they don't have a huge breakfast menu, but you'll surely be able to find something if you're a breakfast fan. After looking over the menu I opted to get an egg sandwich, with an extra side of their house sauce. The sandwich came with home fries. I asked for a latte, but their machine was broke, so I got a regular coffee. The coffee was good. I tend to like a latte better, but I was really after some caffeine, so it did the trick. My egg sandwich came out later. It was beautifully prepared, with the egg, cheese, and crispy bacon. The Texas toast was buttered and toasted to perfection. The house sauce enhanced the flavor. Each bite was better than the next. The home fries were fried perfectly and tasted great.I liked the sandwich so much, I came back twice and got the same meal!"
"Had nothing but great meals, drinks and service here. Staff is friendly. Lots of seating and parking. Easy on and off the interstate. Tray the southern fried Tacos. Love the corn in the cob."
"I've been here twice now. Once solo and once work a group of 5. Since I won't be returning, it's time for a review. My first visit, I sat at the bar and had great service from the bartender and my server. The food was tasty for the most part (frog leg skewers were the best, cheesecake was weak) and my cocktail was tasty. It was a bit pricey, but overall maybe 3.5-4*.However, my second visit was very different. With a group, we had to wait until everyone was present to be seated, even though the table was just sitting empty. Fine. We waited outside because there was no space inside to wait. Once everyone arrived, we were seated. The server quickly rattled off menu things, including what they were out of and the specials. We then looked over the menu, and had to flag our server down to get questions answered. Eventually, three members of the party ordered drinks. One of them had some interesting foam on top, but the server didn't know what it was and didn't help us in answering the question by asking someone else.We ordered a "side" dish and a "main" dish each. One person was served. Then, several minutes later, a few more "main" dishes were brought out. A few more minutes later, some "sides" brought out. For 4 of our party. The last person didn't get her food until at least 15-20 minutes after the rest of us and we had to ask about it. Even then, they brought the "main" a few minutes before the "side". I should add, the "side" was a bowl of rice! Needless to say, service was not impressive this time. I was quite annoyed, as was the rest of my party. I got the potato salad and the mushroom yakisoba bowl. The potato salad was.... ok. One of the better dishes of the night, but very rich with mayo and a slightly fake bacon flavor. Also, not the easiest to eat with chopsticks (we were not offered forks, although we eventually asked for two of them). The yakisoba was also OK. A bit salty for me, but decent. Not worth the price for either though. My cocktail was also just OK this time around. At the end of our meal, it was clear that we were not welcomed to linger and chat either.I should say, the interior is very very well decorated. The mix of wood, plants, and glass comes together beautifully. However, the acoustics are horrible. We could hardly hear and struggled to carry on a conversation.Second visit was 2*.Overall, I'll give them 3*, but I won't be recommending or returning."
"The Local Taco is truly a staple of Lexington, KY - I went to school at UK until 2018 and I swear this is the place that everyone loves and also the place you have your parents take you when they come in to visit you at school. The food is always good and fresh and the staff is always kind as well! Along with good food, I like that you order at the counter, take a number, and seat yourself. They have an option to sit indoors or on the patio which I also love. I had the great pleasure of returning to The Local Taco today and I ordered the Triple Crown Cheese Enchilada which I've never had before and I LOVED it. I also got a side of rice and raja salsa with chips. As always, I loved my meal and left with a full stomach and smile across my face. Thank you, The Local Taco, for being tried and true for me and so many others! Can't wait to be back as always!"
"My girlfriends and I have made a tradition of going out to lunch together each Oaks Day. And this year, we chose River House. And it was pretty much perfect! We were able to make a reservation easily online, and considering how warm the spring day was, we got a table on the patio overlooking the Ohio River. Talk about a Louisville view! For my lunch I got the Chilled Seafood Salad Po'Boy. River House knows how to do seafood, and this was a delightful entree. Loved the fries too!We shared some drinks, as well as the Chocolate Peanut Butter Lava Cake and Key Lime Pie. It was the kind of lunch that made a day.And the cherry on top? We had our own Derby celebrity sighting. Sheryl Lee Ralph, who stars in "Abbott Elementary," was seated just a few tables away in all of her big hat Derby splendor. Turns out that a couple of my friends are BIG FANS. They went over to say how much they love her show, and she was welcoming and gracious. Our server was also great, getting us refills and helping us order. River House should not be overlooked! I want to go back soon for dinner too."
"Made the 30-minute drive and this place has been on my radar for a while, and it was well worth the trip. So, in my 1st visit my wife and I shared Fried Green Tomatoes which were filling and excellent. For an entree we both got a Blackened Salmon with Jasmine Rice & Green Beans. Excellent taste, large portions. The hostess was so nice, and this eatery is smaller, I'm guessing it seats around 50. My only criticism was that our waiter (not the hostess) never told us of that day's specials, but she told the other tables near us."
"Bootleg bbq is a long-standing fern creek staple located off old Bardstown road in Lousiville Kentucky a mile or so before hitting the Mount Washington city line. For years this was just a small shack with limited to no seating but over the last five years or so they did a complete remodel that features spacious seating, old school 50s and 60s style country decor and a very home feeling vibe to it. Service on my trips here are always pretty good. You order at the counter when walking in at the dine in portion and seat yourself. The opposite side of the counter which has a separate entrance is for carry out. In our history they have always gotten our food out fast, accurately and fresh. My personal go to meal is a pulled pork sandwich with a side of baked beans. I've gotten other sides in the past like max and cheese and there double tater (mashed potatoes with cheese on top) and you can't go wrong. The baked beans is my favorite though and some of my favorite in the city. The sandwich has a good taste and the bbq sauce is very tasty. My wife is a big fan of the pork and loves getting the burgoo side. Kids usually stick to the kids menu and usually finish there plates. So complaints on there end. Overall a nice hole in the wall establishment just a little bit off the beaten path of busy bardstown road that has above average bbq, good service and a good atmosphere."
"We had our annual friendsmas event here after checking around for a venue. Our reservation was for 6PM and our waiter was Adam. This is a very nice venue that can hold a very large group. The food was delicious. We tried so many dishes between all of us. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The service was slow. Very slow. That's the one thing that was odd since there was really no one n the restaurant but us. There seemed to be plenty of staff, however they just weren't moving fast. The decorations for the holidays were fabulous. I'd go back when I'm not worried about having a rushed meal."
"We stumbled into Kellie's the other night as we passed through town in the midst of a storm. The place was fairly empty- just a couple groups when we arrived, about an hour and a half from closing. We were surprised when the friendly hostess informed us that Mondays were Family Style friend chicken night. I was unsure about this, however the dinner surpassed my expectations greatly. The chicken was deliciously lightly breaded and perfectly fried. The sides (green beans, biscuits, mashed potatoes, gravy, and coleslaw) were generously sized and tasty. I was happy to see they had sweet tea on the menu!Throughout our meal, our hostess/waitress made sure we were constantly supplied with whatever we might need- drinks, refills on sides, etc. There is a little shop attached filled with all the things you could hope to find- soap, children's toys, lotions, decor, etc. The bathrooms were quite clean and well stocked. I'd like to try this place again when their full menu is available."
"Was staying at the 21c hotel, grabbed lunch here since I was too lazy to go anywhere else. The restaurant was so empty for Saturday lunch, I was 1 out of 2 tables during noon - 1:30PM. Service was great. Ordered chicken schnitzel and a side of fresh fruit. The chicken schnitzel was really good when they first brought it out, so hot, crispy and juicy. But I decided to the salad that came with the chicken plate first and by the time I returned to the chicken the texture was so rubbery, so surprising it changed that much."
"The potato salad is terrific--it's mostly a straight up Midwest style but has a little bit of the vinegar of a German potato salad. And the breading on the fried catfish was perfect. With a side of green beans and a small sample of the peach cobbler to round out the meal. Super nice folks who run the place and keep the kitchen going."
"Food: greatService: greatAmbiance: greatIf they're doing the prix fixe when you go, you can't go wrong.Highlight of my trip to Cincy/Northern KY!"
"Decent food at a great price, good (but slow) service, and a nice ma and pop restaurant with a low key vibe. I enjoyed the fried chicken, the mashed potatoes were incredible, and the spinach was not great - very watery. Next to me, they ordered the Kentucky hot brown and were not pleased - so avoid that. We also each ordered a little different cake and tried them all. The carrot cake (if it's your thing) was the best, strawberry was also very good, and Carmel cake was fairly dry, and chocolate was not impressive. My biggest complaint is that the food took about 40 minutes after ordering to get to our table, and it was not overly busy. The severs were fantastic and friendly. I would consider returning, especially for the price and portions."
"Solid place to eat. Pretty good chicken - decent overall menu. I usually get the chicken and waffles. Service has been slow sometimes, but the staff is always nice. Always one of my options when I go out to eat."
"We came for the infamous Hot Brown.... It was quite tasty... would like a little more bread on the entree as the the 3 meats were very apparent in this dish would have liked a little more taste of the bread and gravy shine through a bit more ... also throw 2 slices of tomato vs. one and it would have been perfect.... The size is a shareable dish in my opinion. Will definitely be back to try more dishes"
"The ambiance is very nice. It is classy with a bar to hang out in while you wait. Our service was spectacular. The only loss of star was for the quality of food... especially for the price. Standards are obviously higher when paying more... the main meat.dishes were good, but slather sides left a lot to be desired. The veggies were soggy and the potatoes were hard and dry. Despite that, I'd return again."
"Paul and I stopped for lunch at Seasons while on the way to Asheville. We arrived around 11:30 and were seated right away.Seasons is located in a beautiful, expansive building on Corbin's main strip. The main dining room features a wood burning fireplace, a crystal chandelier, and beautiful wood all around. The only thing about the setting that did not make sense was the music--contemporary pop. It just did not fit.Paul ordered the chicken salad platter and the red pepper tomato soup. He enjoyed both selections. I tried a bite of his chicken salad, which is made in house, and found myself wishing I had ordered that platter.I ordered the Black and Blue salad with bleu cheese dressing, and the Renaissance mushroom soup. The greens were incredibly fresh, and the dressing was impressive. Unfortunately, the steak was tough. The mushroom soup was excellent.A word about portions at Seasons--they are ridiculously massive. I live to eat, but I could only finish a third of that salad despite walking in the door famished. Our server could have been neither more friendly nor more slow. Thankfully, the former of the two is more important to me.In summary, if you are passing by Corbin and have the time for a slow paced, scrumptious meal, I recommend Seasons."
"This place is quite cute. It is a house. Once you enter it, you pick your own seat. I prefer go up because of the natural light. The waiter and waitress are nice and warming. The menu looks great. I have been here twice and always love their burnt end and the old fashioned too.My family love it there too. We all agreed that the mac and cheese was the best thing but we do enjoy the smoked meats too. This is the place we would come back for more."
"This place has legit fried fish and shrimp. The greens were perfect. Mac and cheese satisfying. The cornmeal pancake topped everything off. The staff was friendly and all was super clean. Highly recommended."
"In the heart of Louisville (Louville) is a local favorite and the food is amazing, off the w chain, slap yo mama good. Out here for a sad occasion and discovers this little jewel. Soul food at its best. $10 specials with free small drinks, on Sundays. Lots of food cooked to order like fried chicken. Sides like Black Grandmama's use to make. I ordered the "Smothered Pork Chops", my wife 2 pc fried chicken. Sides were greens, Mac n cheese and rice with gravy. Tears actually came to my eyes as I enjoyed this amazing food. Dine in, or To-Go, it's all good. So y'all come on down to "Big Hops", ya won't be disappointed. Michael C. Georgetown, Texas"
