Alyona Z. "10/21/24 & 11/4/24 My husband and I got to go orders of the same dishes both times. Sahara is hands-down the best Mediterranean spot around! I ordered the lamb and beef shawarma, while my husband went with the chicken shawarma. Portions are super generous--enough for leftovers! The food is consistently fresh and flavorful, with a lively, bustling atmosphere that adds to the experience. I could honestly eat here every day. Don't miss out on their incredible garlic sauce--it's a must-try! It's the best garlic sauce out there."

Lorie L. "Yum, that was delicious! My husband and I made our first visit to The Charcoal Restaurant today for lunch and enjoyed their outdoor seats. We ordered the chicken and beef kabob sandwiches which both came with fries. Both options were delicious, and if we could only choose one we'd both choose the beef. Service was friendly and they made sure we had what we needed. They brought our food outside to us and kept the tables clean. Rating this simpler place with 5 stars because it will replace the other options we've been visiting. We are excited to go back and try more option and will definitely be picking this up for takeout as well!"

We are all fans of Greek food and Mirage did not disappoint. We had quick and friendly service with a fantastic lunch spread. We tried a little bit of everything--hummus with hot pita bread, baba ghanoush, chicken Shawarma, falafel. All tasted fresh and delicious."

Chad P. "A friend of mine just moved in nearby and said that we should try this place. I always thought it was a bit strange being a cafe underneath a giant old factory that I guess is now apartments? Anyway I never really paid much attention to it but we finally decided to go. They have a good amount of space once you get around the entrance wall and they use it well! Service was very nice and you could tell this was a place where the same people have worked at for quite a long time. I feel like their menu selection was very eclectic as well as appealing to what most people might want. I had the cavatappi with the vodka sauce and I added Italian sausage to it. My friend had their catfish. My cavatappi was amazing! With the vodka sauce as well as the slices of mozzarella cheese on top and sliced asparagus, it was just amazing and full of flavor and you really got a big portion of it. I almost couldn't eat the whole thing! Make sure to ask for a side of bread which does not cost extra to sop up more of that sauce. My friend had the catfish which was on top of one of their fried butter ball and sauce. Butter ball is probably the wrong word. But it was some sort of fried thing that the catfish was sitting on top of and he said it was excellent. Definitely want to return here and try some more of their amazing dishes!"

Fortunately, there was an available table in the quiet area near the bar. The drinks were passable. The food portions were huge and satisfying, but not memorable. They cook with heavy ingredients and plenty of butter. I felt distended after only eating half the food on my plate."

Emily H. "I ordered delivery for the first time from Kebab House, and overall it was tasty! I got the chicken shawerma sandwich. This is made with marinated sliced chicken wrapped with garlic sauce, salad and pickle. And like I said, tasty. I wish there was a bit more chicken in this sandwich, but otherwise it was good. I also got a piece of pistachio baklava -- thin layers of phyllo dough stuffed with crushed pistachio topped with honey and lemon syrup. This was a large piece of baklava and such an indulgent, mid-day treat. Overall, Kebab House seems like a good place to order from. I would do so again."

Emily S. "I live in Indianapolis and had been eagerly awaiting to try this on my next visit back home to Evansville/Newburgh. There's not many Mediterranean, much less Turkish, places in Indiana so it was great to see this open in the area. The restaurant has multiple levels out outdoor seating terraces overlooking the river. It was especially nice right at sunset. They had a nice selection of appetizers and traditional/classic Turkish meals as well as a few basic meat dishes that wouldn't throw of someone new to Turkish food. The waitstaff was very professional and friendly. I could tell they were still working out a few kinks being open less than a month, but all in all the service was good. I enjoyed the flavors of everything we tried. The interior of the restaurant had these complex water/bubble lighted walls. It looked kind of cool but maybe a smidge overdone or trying to be fancy, but accidentally over the top. Food was reasonably priced. I don't like when places don't have prices on their cocktail menu and that was the case here. It's weird. Definitely will plan to come back and try other dishes!"

Claudia E. "Update to my previous review! There's been a couple of things that have changed since I was last here, they were a little disappointing. First off the portion size got significantly smaller with everything that was scooped onto the lamb gyro platter, so when I finished I was more hungry than usual. The gentleman working that day was kind of callous, compared to other employees I've interacted with there, but that wasn't really a big deal. Lastly, they've added a $1 fee to credit card transactions, which was a frustrating way to cap off a sub-optimal visit. The lamb gyro meat and the rice were really good on this visit, though. The lamb was seasoned really well with a unique flavor that I really enjoyed. And both the lamb and the rice were wonderfully tender. With the changes, I'm sure I will still be back, but they're just things I will have to consider when choosing where to get my meals!"

Issam A. "First off, as an Arab my word on this type of cuisine is gospel. Got it? Good? Awesome, let's get this review started.Jokes aside, I have a definitely soft spot for Arabic street food. Shawarma, falafel and hummus are all favorites of mine and there is nostalgia there. It's definitely something I look at under the magnifying glass. Don't get me wrong there's plenty of places that can scratch that itch for me here in Lexington, but I am more than happy to claim Zaki is the real deal and has by far my favorite, both with its flavors and authenticity. I took some coworkers of mine to try it out today, and this may have been 3rd time. I got a chicken shawarma wrap, a couple of orders of falafel and hummus to share and everything was a hit with my self and my coworkers whom have never had the cuisine before. Starting with my wrap, the chicken was juicy and flavorful, complimented well but the garlic and spicy sauce, as well as, pickles. The falafels were perfection, fried perfectly and bursting with the flavor of chickpeas and parsley, as well as the sumac the was added on after, please go out of your way to try falafel if you never have. Finally the hummus, another light compliment to everything, the dip was smooth and flavorful. I've only met a couple of the people that work there and each time they have gone out of their way to cater to myself and the people I have brought with me. I appreciate them each time. The location itself is not the best right off the Georgetown exit, but the building is colorful. There isn't much anywhere to sit, which I could see rubbing people the wrong way but personally I am used to it. That said that is my only sour note on a fantastic place to eat. Please, if you've ever wanted to try Arabic food, I highly recommend you try this place out and if you're a fellow Arab looking for something close to home, this is the place."

My big regret about Sam's is that though I've spent months in Bowling Green, I hadn't tried Sam's until last week. Well, after my first visit, it's safe to say I've found one of my new Bowling Green Staples!Because of its nondescript location, it can be easy to overlook Sam's as just another restaurant in a sea of restaurants in a bustling College Town. However you'll find that it's often recommended both online and by locals as one of the ideal spots for a Mediterranean lunch. The menu is refreshingly simple, and offers most (if not all) of the entrees for less than $10. The ingredients are basic, but pack a punch where they're needed the most, taste and value. As a dining experience, it's no-frills, and honestly that's not at all a bad thing.Keto/ Low Carb Folks: I'd recommend going for a Chicken or Beef Greek Salad (It's even advertised as 0 carbs!). While there can certainly be some sneaky carbs in this dish, it easily fits what you're looking for in a Keto Meal. Overall, if you're looking for quick, high-value, low-cost, simple and tasty Mediterranean meal in BG, you owe it to yourself to give Sam's Gyros a try!"
