"Searching for a new family fall festival a recommendation came to try the 11th annual Foxhollow Farm. Great idea!Located 15 miles from Louisville in Crestwood Ky. At the festival we found a well organized event which included old farm fun activities for the kids, you pick pumpkin patch, corn maze, Hayrides, a baled hay castle to climb, tin can bowling, balloon pop, face painting, silk dyes and play ground. Many food trucks, arts and crafts & vender booths lined the walkway as well as a music area with plenty of seating. At the back side we found a adult area serving beer and cocktails. Woohoo! Some surprisingly unique items of interest found on the hayride was a large group of stone carved obelisks (see photos) each had carved symbols of nature, as we ventured the property we noticed more scattered single large stone obelisks. Foxhollow is a 100% grass fed beef cattle farm which supports a biodynamic community. Also you can order their beef online any size and cut boxed and shipped. Foxhollow.com and through several social media sites. The festival has a goal to give back to the community "Dare to care food bank" of farm fresh fruits and vegetables as well as its outreach program for "Maryhurst" field trips. What a well planned and organized event down to the last detail. Every attention was given to plenty of restroom and hand washing station, five recycling station facilities and to plentiful parking. Highly recommend Foxhollow Farm for your next fall festival. Normally held on the 2nd Saturday of October."
"We were referred to Markwell's by a friend last deer season. We had one buck processed there last year and 4 deer processed this year. It can get a bit backed up when gun season opens but it's worth the wait. They do a great job and it is nice to get everything back labeled and ready to be vacuum-sealed. I hope to be a repeat customer each year! They are cash only so be sure you hit an ATM before you pick up your order."
"This place is a real gem. The guys who run it are so friendly, and professional. During the summer I was getting hamburger meat here regularly, and it was always great. My favorite thing that they sell is their homemade sausage. Everyone who taste it seems to love it. They also offer hot & cold deli sandwiches which I hear are very delicious. I also hear their steaks are superb as well. This is the only butcher shop in Frankfort, and it offers an excellent alternative to the big chain stores. Try their sausage, and you will immediately notice how much better it is than anything you can buy at Kroger or Walmart."
"Lovely little spot on Main Street. Nice mix of farm goods (meat, eggs, etc) with a selection of gift items, sauces, mixes, and more. Decent amount of local products from around the area. Service is excellent - friendly and responsive. The space is beautiful; small but well-utilized. Definitely worth a stop when you're in Danville!"
"This place is quite the hidden gem. I didn't even know they existed or understood what they did for the longest time. Yes, they process your meat but they're also quite a tasty little butcher shop. Off the beaten path, down a country road off 162 and located at a private residence is some of the best cuts of meat you can get. Not only do they cut to your preference (I ordered several 1 1/4 cut Ribeyes) but they have a freezer housing several options of beef, pork and seafood, along with frozen veggies, fruit and other sides. The actual counter has several different types of cheeses, pork cuts and ready-to-cook pulled pork. Don't forget to grab a pack of jalapeno beef sticks while you're there to munch on in the car on the way home...they may not make it home actually. Not only do they have all the meat you would like but the have a great selection of rubs and sauces to help complete your grilling experience. You can also pick up some ammo if for some reason you forgot it! BONUS!A little on the pricey side but that's what you get for fresh meat, prepared the way you like it, with down home customer service."
"We have been buying the pork tenderloins for years. We've had kids going EKU for years & we had to make a trip to Richmond during business hours. They now have Tenderloins individually vacuum sealed. Is really nice. There great grilled for sandwiches. They have a few more things now.Great place to pick up frozen food & veggies. They have another store in Lexington across from Sams.If you like grilling, You need to stop in.."
"My previous artichoke experience is from Castroville CA, but what I discovered here are frozen artichokes from Egypt. Best international market in central Kentucky!"
"I finally got to try Frank's after many years of it being on my list to try. I went in about 11 AM the day. It was very small on the inside. I was pretty surprised. I went to the counter. I ordered a medium chili it was four dollars and some change. I got my chili went over and waited in line for a little bit. The lady gave me a spoon and some crackers and I went outside and eat my chili. It was overall pretty good and I would go back."
"It's a tiny market, and weirdly seems to have good selections on a few types of items but overall is missing a lot. Notably, I could not find any fresh hummus, which seems to me like the #1 thing the term "Mediterranean market" would be advertising. They had plenty of canned hummus, as well as some canned fava beans that I like. There were plenty of dried beans, a lot of cheese, and only a few other things really. As such, I found a few things worth buying but was a bit disappointed overall. As the moment, the restaurant next door is closed temporarily but does have a restart date, so I'll likely come back and try it."
"I visited here today around lunchtime for a bite to eat. I walked in and was greeted quickly with a friendly worker. I told her I'd like a brisket sandwich with hot bbq. I waited 3-4 mins and was handed the food. It was $9.45 after tax for the sandwich. I ate it out in the truck and wish I could have said it was 5 out of 5 best ever but I can't. The sandwich was small and not that tasty unfortunately for the price especially. It had no Smokey flavor and just tasted like pulled beef roast on a roll with bbq sauce. I did not enjoy and was really wanting to like it. I'll give it another shot with another food item but I'll pass on this sandwich"
"If you like Farmer's Markets then this place is worth a drive out from Lexington. We were greeted by the friendly staff who explained that their wide array of meat are grass and grain fed...no hormones. Besides meat they have milk, cheese, eggs, jams, lotions, soaps, etc. Kentucky Proud."

Review is for Sunset Concert series. Concerts are the first Friday of the summer months from 6-9 pm. We had an absolutely wonderful relaxing time! We attended two of the sunset concert series events and both concerts were perfect. Both concerts had different food truck options from local companies and they were all great. There are also wine and cocktail options. Dogs are welcome on a leash. Bring a blanket and chairs because the concert is outside and there are no chairs. The concerts are fun for all ages so make sure and bring the whole gang. If it happens to rain, which it did one of the concerts, they move the event inside.

I've called this place a few times. I think they are no longer in business. I plan to stop by once I'm in Frankfurt and see if they're still there

Super friendly staff. They're always willing to help me locate an item. Spices are good and reasonably priced. I, too wished they had a fresh meat option but I have bought their frozen lamb and it was good. My favorite go to thing is the instant chia tea in the orange box. It's so good and quick to make.

Franks is so highly rated because it is real food that fills you up! Good people working fast to get you your lunch and you're in and out in 10 minutes. Always kind, always fast which is great service when you're in a hurry. They do like you to know what you want but they will never be rude to you. Daily specials are found on the menu on the RIGHT SIDE above the meat case. Regular sandwiches, soups, chili, etc are found on the wall BEHIND the meat case. This is a no frills meat shop. Ambiance is fast service with good food for working people. The sandwiches are TWO-HANDERS!

"I was kind of torn between three stars or four but the customer service was the deciding factor as it was friendly and attentive, but not overbearing. I bought an etouffee stuffed chicken which was good but was basically chicken & rice with shrimp. It's probably my fault for getting an idea in my head before I ate it but I pictured a roux being part of the stuffing and it was not. The andouille sausage was ok, I got some Cajun sausages that I haven't tried yet and the cracklings were pretty good. There are some other things here I would like to try and the boneless chicken is almost worth going back for on its own.Update: In my opinion the Cajun sausages are better than the andouille sausages after trying both of them."
"So many of my friends and neighbors have been going here for their meats! I decided I had to try it. Having a dinner party and decided a tenderloin would be wonderful. In the past I have ordered from Kroger and never had any problems but wanted to try this instead. Called ahead and ordered a 5 pound trimmed tenderloin. Then they gave me a sheet with some instructions which included rubbing with "gunpowder". Hmmmm? Gunpowder? I ask and she excitedly tells me about this great rub which a little goes a long way. She offers me a taste, yum! She even exclaims it is great on popcorn! Yes I think this would be great on anything! I bought their gunpowder seasoning and a 5 pound tenderloin for $70. (Tenderloin was 70ish). Anyway, I know at Kroger it would have been closer to $100. Came home and rubbed the tenderloin with gunpowder and some fresh thyme. It was DELICIOUS! So tender and very good. The service was helpful and kind, loved the jovial vibe in there. It was so good I sent husband back today for another tenderloin for a Sunday night dinner party. I generally don't eat much red meat, but wow so good. And we had poached eggs with steak for breakfast with the left over meat. It's going to be a beefy Christmas season! The country ham here looks wonderful and I know folks rave about that. I also want to try the Amish chicken breasts!"
"This used to be a grocery store + restaurant. Not they have converted it into a restaurant full time. They have a variety of Mediterranean/Indian/Pakistani food items. They have buffet on weekends. Be ready to wait a while after the food is ordered unless you are getting the buffet."
"Born and bred in Louisville but this is my first visit to Kingsley. Had it not been for my friend visiting from out of town and wanting to cook out, I may have gone several more years. At least I get credit for knowing of a local butcher! The parking lot is small so during a busy time you may need to park on a neighborhood side street. I actually preferred this because of so many cars pulling in and out. Kingsley had several folks working behind the counter and at the register to take care of customers. In only 5 minutes my friend had described exactly what type of steak he wanted, received a recommendation and had it wrapped up, in hand. We grabbed a couple of root beers and an employee got us a bag of ice (to keep our steak cool on the drive home). I'd like to come back soon to Kingsley. The store is full of meats and pre-made deli items like pasta salads. There's a good selection of sodas and other drinks. You can even sit down and eat there! But it's a little weird, like eating in the middle of the grocery store. Our steaks from Kingsley were salted, peppered and dipped in oil ... absolutely delicious! No one had a bite left on their plate."
"Real good cuts at reasonable prices. Prepackaged turkey breasts, prepackaged BBQ are extra tasty and will always want to grab some fresh cuts of meat.Facility is clean, customer service is amazing."
"This is such a gem to have nearby!!! All organic! All grassfed! Family-run AND LOCAL!!! Can it get any better?? Steckler's sells handmade cheeses, lamb, beef, poultry and eggs of course! Their attention to detail and pain-staking process of staying all natural is quite impressive at least. If you're in the area I highly recommend taking a side trip and a cooler and stock up on your organics!! You won't regret itCheck their website for more in depth information on their farm and their growing process!! Quite a wealth of info on there!"
"We were eating at Kellie's and I wandered to the back to see what was going on at the meat counter. I ended up leaving with some real good stuff. Country ham is pretty salty, so make sure you understand that. But the quality was really good. I also got some summer sausage that was really tasty. They also offer smoked breakfast sausage and will give you a frozen one for the road. They have a good selection of other meats that all looked good, plus some mixes and other sides. The prices are an indicator of the high quality, you're getting what you pay for."
"This place sure knows what they're doing! In case the name didn't give it away, this is part of the Blue Dog family of restaurants (if they're into colors and rhyming, maybe their next place will be called "Green Frog" -- desserts this time! -- but I digress). With this group, you cannot go wrong! I had visited for dinner before and had a wonderful time. The outdoor seating is magnificent on a nice evening, the food is delectable and the service is so friendly. Most recently, I went for lunch with a friend and had an equally pleasant experience. The deli opens at 11, and you can grab a variety of artisanal meats, or a quick sandwich. We decided on sandwiches, and both chose the cold sandwich (there is also a hot one). But I wanted to switch things up and asked if they could toast the cold sandwich on the panini press. Presto, no problemo for the helpful and knowledgeable guys working behind the counter! A few minutes later our sandwiches were ready and they were so good! Fresh Blue Dog bread encased meat, cheese, dijonnaise and papadew peppers; the quick turn on the press gave it just the right melt and warmth. While we ate at one of the two tops inside, we watched the world go by on Frankfort Ave and saw patrons come in for cuts of meats for meals at home. This place is the veritable Frankfort Ave neighborhood butcher. To find your new favorite place, stop by Red Hog today. Like me, I'm sure you'll soon find another reason to visit again!"
"Everyone in this area eats here for a reason. The food! The service! It's like home for me. A Mercado that's well stocked and even has specialty items and local produce. The local farmers and workers in the big distribution warehouse eat here. Every local nationality was represented when I was there!I asked some Vietnamese diners if there's a place to eat Pho around and they laughed and said " Chicago!".The Russians were stocking up on staples like chorizo and beans and tortillas! The line for the restaurant gets long at lunchtime, so plan accordingly!"
"This place is a little gem. It has flowers for sale aligning the outside. Inside they have a deli and sell Amish baked goods and spreads. They sell locally canned items and meats. I stopped in here on this day with my sister to see what this was about. We bought pimento cheese, crackers, locally made beef jerky, and some spices. It was great. If you are in the area, I would suggest to stop in and see what goodies you can find."
"Boone's is so great! I live all the way in Etown and try to get over to Boone's every chance I get. I love their selection, I love their sales, and their meat is always good. Whenever I have a special occasion that I can justify it, I'd love to come and request a specific cut of meat here. In addition to meat and deli, they offer all sorts of goodies, treats, and things to make your meats taste better. It's always nice and clean inside, and even though it's a little tight that's never been a problem. My only beef (pun very much intended) with Boone's is that they're closed on Sunday, so I can't go to church and get my butcher shop shopping on the same day. Love Boone's, would highly recommend."
"Awesome food and service every single time!!! The Big Bird and Wilbur is highly recommended and the cakes are delicious. Must try in the area!"
"We popped in for lunch while traveling through the area. Cute little place with a farmhouse vibe. It was clean and looked recently remodeled. I had the chicken tender meal. The chicken was fantastic- juicy chicken, thin tasty breading, good crunch. HUGE portions - i got three giant tenders. The texture of the fried okra was excellent, some of the best I've had. Crunchy breading and the inside was firm and not soggy or slimy, but still tender. Mashed potatoes are homemade. Both my brown gravy and husband's white gravy were ok but under seasoned. Big buttery biscuits had great texture and flavor. My husband said his country fried steak was very good - thick, nicely seasoned breading, and the breading stayed on the entire piece. He said the cole slaw was fine. Service was great - friendly waitress took care of us just fine even being the only server. All of the food coming out of the kitchen looked great as well. I doubt we'll ever be back this way again, but would definitely recommend it. Good food, good service, quick and easy. $39 lunch after tip. Clean bathrooms, Pepsi products."
"Extra clean facility with large fresh selections of regular or smoked pork chops. Smoked pork loins, smoked bacon... all are extra tasty and priced economically to allow you to fill your freezer to the max. Not every visit has the filets, but they are delicious and the minute steaks are perfect sandwich sized steaks, we have never gotten a chewy one. Always satisfied with pork roasts, beef roasts and tasty sausage. Great staff. Deli case with lots of options, pre-packaged Amish cheese slices and packaged gravies, steak sauce near check out.Worth the drive. Cute place near the shop, it is an excellent place to grab a sandwich before heading back home with a delicious assortment of meats.Your going to love this butcher shop, they take credit cards."
"They are still learning how to carve out there niche in town, but it is a welcomed new spot to grab a lunch, get some fresh meats for dinner and if wanted there is beer on tap. Covers a lot of bases for a spot that will hopefully be a homeowner for all.Freshly up dated store (former drug store) offered up a nice vibe.Burgers prepared perfectly and service was friendly. GLAD this is here and a must visit for lunch and some meats."
"Ok, it's time to let y'all in on a little secret. Uncle Charlie's has the meat! No, they're not new, they've been around since 1952. The first and other location is in Richmond. This location has been open for a year or so. It's on New Circle Road, across from Sam's Club... super easy to find. It's never busy and always fully stocked. It's a perfect secret gem for a time like this, when we're avoiding crowds and the grocery stores are short on meat options. Don't get me wrong though, this place is always a great option when you're looking for local meats and such. I've gotten everything from biscuits, to chicken tenders. The frozen chicken tenders are breaded and precooked, and since I discovered them here, I've not bought them anywhere else. I've found the prices to be cheaper than Kroger and other grocers. It's a bit on the small side, but I've always left satisfied, always leaving with several bulk items that I wasn't even in the hunt for."
"Little jimmys meat company is a lunch deli/meat market located in the small town portion of Mount Washington just of north bardstown road. My family and I came here the other day to check this place out and grab some lunch and price out some steaks for a Christmas party coming up. You walk in and they have a counter where you order. They prepare your order and give it to you and you go to a counter by the exit to pay. At the exit counter they also have some dessert options and candy. On this trip we grabbed lunch. I personally ordered a hand and cheese sandwich. It was good but kinda small and overpriced at $6. My wife did there lunch special of soup of the day and half a sandwich. Soup of the day was chili which she said was tasty. She got a club sandwich and said it was really good. Had great flavor. My oldest daughter got a corn beef sandwich and raved about it. The counter desserts got to us. I got me and my second oldest daughter this giant m&m's brownie which was cheaply priced (opposite of ham sandwich) and was really good. You know how the corner pieces or a brownie platter is the best? Well this whole thing tasted like a giant corner piece with m&m's. Legit one of the best brownies I've had before. My oldest got cake pops and she said they were really good. On this trip we didn't purchase any steaks. However, we may come back. There ribeyes pricing lined up with local retail stores so I think we would rather support local small businesses like this one this holiday season and give it a shot. So I think we will come back in a a few days and buy some of the ribeyes which run around $13 a pound. Overall very cool and nice addition to the small town of Mount Washington. Not to many lunch spots in This town. So the fact that it's a meat shop to I think it will do well. They do have a spacious inside and it would be nice to see them setup a few tables so people can eat there sandwiches and chili and soups while there."
"Simply the best meat available in the area. Obviously more expensive than what you'll find at the supermarket, but it's worth it. Fantastic quality and selection."
