"Paul's is on my summertime route while out running errands and shopping for the week. I love the hometown feel of it and can usually find everything I'm looking for when I can't make it to the farmers' market.Besides the fresh produce you'd expect to find, my favorites are their prepared foods and confections. I'm addicted to their original pimento cheese that has just a little kick with the addition of jalapeños. Spread some on a toasted bagel or roll with a thick slice of fresh tomato and you're in heaven. Their fruit dip and deviled eggs are also delicious for picnics, gatherings, or packed lunches!Freshly baked pies (available in slices, halves, and wholes), cake, and candies are always tempting. But the items I can't seem to leave without a are the cubes of fudge (peanut butter/chocolate, yum) and modjeskas which I think come from Muth's. A little something sweet to end a lunch on the go or quick dinner at home."
"I am ready to come back on my own to explore Lavender Hill! It is a gorgeous plant/flower shop that also offers teas, chocolates, candles and decor. I know that I didn't get to experience it fully being with kids and a husband that kept talking to me. The plant offerings were reasonably priced and healthy. Pots and planters are available to round out the look. Flowers were sold by the stem or bundle. It's a great spot for gifts or to bring cheer to your own home. I especially appreciated the tea bundles, especially one marked "kick cancer's ass". I have a few close friends that came to mind and it's the type of gift we seek to find to bring comfort to our friends. Excited to have found this shop I keep hearing about and plan another visit."
"This is the site of Lexington's real life gingerbread house. I've driven by this place hundreds of times. It's been years since I've been inside. While I was on a quest to find local places to buy Valentine's Day candy, I decided to make this my first stop.As I walked in, I was consumed by the aroma of the sugary goodness brewing in the back. Everything lined the walls and Valentine themed candy and boxes were on the tables in the middle. Nothing really tickled my fancy. I did ask about the chocolate covered grapes and the young lady told me that they were in the back. Never offering a sampling or any pricing details. Then I over heard someone checking out and being offered free samples. I guess that you have to purchase to sample. Weird business call if you ask me. I have had their candies before and I don't remember being blown away. This time I left empty handed and headed to Old Kentucky Chocolates, which was only about a mile away. There at Old Kentucky Chocolates, the candy was less expensive and they offered free samples. There at Old Kentucky Chocolates, I didn't leave empty handed."

Paul's is always a great place to shop! The people who work there are nice and all of the displays, food and plants look so inviting. There's a deli in the back with prepared foods & foods made to order. I always like browsing the seasonal hostess gift displays. I get many beautiful plants at Paul's every spring.

Lavender Hill is a floral design shop meets greenhouse meets boutique. There are several rooms to explore including one filled with plants of all shapes and sizes. We stopped in to browse after lunch at Schimpf's a few doors down.I was immediately taken with the care and detail put into the rooms. Christmas decorations (this was pre-holiday), luxury soaps and lotions, and a variety of decor items make this shop so charming.I wanted to pick up a small stocking stuffer for my Mom and find the perfect present in their dried lavender by the pound. The woman who rang me up asked if it was for scent or food use. I told her it was for lingerie sachets and she shared that this type was from France & mixed with lavender oil. They also carry another kind suitable for baking/culinary use.My friend and I both lingered in the greenery room with all the plants. It was like a curated botanical exhibit. It made me wish I could grow things. Maybe I'll get some small succulents next time!

Lexington and the surrounding area is full of options to buy candies, but Sharps Candies easily rises above all others. Not only do they have all usual confections, but some of my diabetic friends claim that their sugar free candies are outstanding. While everything is delicious, you have got to try their dark chocolate toffee. Even if you are one who typically does not like dark chocolate, I encourage you to try it. You will buy a box guaranteed! (sometimes they have free samples if you ask)I recommend Sharps Candies with absolutely no reservations. I know because I have been a faithful customer for over 25 years!

My husband and I had a nice visit during Black Friday. The shop is geared toward women, from jewelry to clothing and home decor. The shop offers several items that you don't need but will want - and is great for picking up a gift. Price points will vary so I believe you have a good chance of keeping within budget.Prickly Pear is locally owned. The team is welcoming and upbeat, and I appreciated my gift was beautifully bagged for Christmas.

"My wife and I went in here to shop for a few items for her so she can go on date night with me a few days later. And she picked out some cool looking stuff that she really enjoyed. She really liked the store"
"NO LONGER SERVING BREAKFAST. Breakfast Wednesday- Sunday mornings. The homemade biscuits are amazing!! The house made bacon is not to be missed. The seating area is small and it is a little loud but it is a fun atmosphere. Check out the market items while you are there."
