Keri C. "This spot is legendary for a reason. On one side, you have an amazing selection of breads and pastries, and on the other, a cozy café perfect for brunch or lunch, complete with a small but thoughtfully curated alcohol selection featuring cocktails, wine, and beer. Heads-up: the café closes two hours earlier than the bakery, so plan your visit accordingly!Chocolate lovers, don't miss the pain au chocolat. It's buttery, rich, and pairs perfectly with a cappuccino. (I asked for a sprinkle of edible gold sugar glitter on my foam, because I am in the know--and now you are too!) If savory is more your style, go for the Jambon. Available first come, first serve with the other counter items, it's a quick fix. Featuring Broadbent ham on a mini baguette with farm-fresh butter, it's simple and decadent. For a seasonal treat, I tried the orange snowflake cookie. It was nice, but honestly, I'd recommend sticking with the gingerbread tiles. Sweet, spicy, and addictive. If you're in the mood for table service, check in with the host to sit inside or outside. On sunny days, the patio has a relaxed, European cafe vibe. On rainy days, grab a spot at the window counter for a moody cup of joe.The vibe is relaxed, yet buzzing. The staff is cool. The bread? Main character energy. It gets super busy on Fridays and Saturdays, so swing by when you have the leisure of time. You'll leave full, happy, and feeling a little dreamy."

Rachel K. "It's crazy to see that my last review was over ten years ago! While the price of the cheeseburger special has gone up (only by $2.50) and they've moved their location (just slightly) the food and experience is still the same no frills deliciousness. They have indoor and outdoor dining now and they let you order lettuce and tomato on your burger, but you still get your food on paper plate and the burger special still comes with fries and a drink of choice (including a beer if you want). The burger with onions and pickles is the way to go and it's delicious every time. I have never tried anything else here and I don't know if I ever will. It's exactly what I want and while I know people love the other items on the menu it's hard not to order the cheeseburger when I know it's perfection. If you've never been, they do have a parking lot along with street parking. The servers are friendly and helpful too. You'll see a lot of regulars here as well as families. This one of those old school, welcoming spots that feels like dining at a family member's place for a get together- especially now that they have the outdoor seating. It is no frills, but what they do they do well and at a great price. We stop by at least once every time we're in town."

Joseph G. "Cozy little Coffee/pastry shop located located off the Shepherdsville expressway exit right before all the commercial buildings. The location has a small inside area with tiny end tables and sofas that you can gather around and eat or drink your orders. They also have some picnic tables outside or if you are on the go they do have a drive thru area in the rear. It is a coffee and pastry shop but they do offer a surprisingly large and diverse sandwich/panini selection. Also for the yelp community if you check in you get a 5 percent coupon. So do not forget to check in!! I made my first visit here this morning and brought my oldest daughter and her best friend. My daughter and me got the ham egg and cheese Sandwich and her fiend for the bacon sandwich. The sandwiches were surprisingly pretty large. They had really good flavor for being a coffee shop sandwich which was a nice surprise. A tad bit on the greasy side but they were honestly much more than I anticipated getting from a place that is primarily a coffee shop. For drinks my daughter and her friend got a strawberry and mango smoothie. They both were huge fans. I got a double chocolate chip blended drink and it was great. Nice flavor and plenty of chocolate and chocolate chips. Almost needed a spoon to drink it because my chips kept jamming up in my straw. Service here was top notch as the girls behind the counter were very helpful in answering questions, polite and worked with a quickness. Overall we enjoyed our visit and I'm sure we will be back. My daughters friend lives in the area and they are already planning a return trip so I'm sure it will become a thing now whenever I'm picking her up or dropping her off from or to sleepovers. The drive thru is a nice touch. I would not expect a local coffee shop to have that. So I'll have to try that out next time especially if on the go."

Farrah D. "First time trying Gracious Plenty was for lunch on the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend - this place was busy! The food exceeded my expectations - I had the turkey wrap on a tomato tortilla. The turkey and the cream cheese spread were very good, but the tortilla itself was super flavorful - usually spinach or tomato tortillas are just green or red yet flavorless, but this one actually tasted tomato-y. I had fruit salad on the side, which really should just be called a fruit cup because it was just cut up fruit, no dressing or seasoning. Husband had the pear & blue cheese salad with shrimp added. He really enjoyed it, but the dressing was the low point - it's a vinaigrette that separates really easily, so it was hard to combine the layers in the little condiment cup it came in, which is important if you're a dressing dipper instead of a dressing pourer.I'm not sure if this is a Covid thing or an "everyone is short staffed" thing, but my wrap and other sandwiches were served on regular ol' paper plates like you'd buy for your family at Target. Husband's salad came in a clear to-go container with a large paper plate for him to move it to, which seemed a little odd as well.Despite a little bit of weirdness with the presentation, the food was really solid and VERY affordable. We would definitely return for a super casual lunch."

Ken N. "I enjoyed my food when I had lunch here, but like some of the other reviewers, I found there could be a lot of improvement in the service. I ordered the Cafe Chicken Sandwich with a tasty grilled chicken breast (still juicy and well seasoned) and selected a side salad to go with it. The salad was colorful and I got a house-made balsamic vinaigrette which was really delicious! The sandwich came with choice of cheese, lettuce, red onion, and tomato. Maybe just a hint of chewiness, but overall, quite good. The problem with service was one that as the only lunch time diner, I thought I would be welcomed to the restaurant or at least greeted and attended. But the man who was running the front was very quiet. He would often disappear into the back (he was managing a "to go" order as well), and my meal took about a half an hour to come out. He also didn't ask if I wanted the salad before the sandwich, so I received them at the same time. (That's basic restaurant 101 to ask.)I did get my water refilled and the check was promptly processed once I let him know I was finished, but it was odd sitting alone in this long, cold (not well heated) room. I understand that with low attendance during lunch, it is hard to hire staff, but more effort on being welcoming improves the customer's experience and can lead to good word of mouth. I will round up my review since my complaints can easily be fixed. I just hope that the business chooses to be more friendly so that visitors want to return.Note: Lots of free parking along Main Street and a nearby lot to the south.Review #3570"

Rebecca B. "Ok, I'll admit I have a banitsa/burek problem that's been ongoing for at least a decade after I discovered it in a now defunct hole-in-the wall shop in the Highlands where it was simply called "cheese pie." I am completely helpless around it. If it's on a menu, there is 0% chance I'm not ordering it. It is the ultimate comfort food. That long preface now contended with, I stopped in this place to maybe grab a coffee and baklava with my 15 year old son who is too cool to generally offer words or expressions of interest, much less glee over damn near anything I introduce him to. Kid will eat everything and anything, but he's also happy spending $19 on five bags of Doritos and a 2 liter of Mountain Dew. BUT, he adored this place. He ordered an iced coffee and slurped it down like a frat boy playing beer pong. From my point of view, I was most impressed by the nugget ice, for I am a nugget ice connoisseur. So crunchy and satisfying. So obviously the iced coffee is a hit. I went to the bar (shocker) and asked the lovely lady working about a bitter liquor and tried this ridiculously weird but delicious amaro from Croatia that tasted like adult bubblegum. They had a bunch of weird booze and I'm excited to try many more. The burek though, once it was served, piping hot....oh myyyy. Huge portion. Buttery and crispy and delicate and just generally perfect. And the sauce, like a sour cream/tartar sauce/tzatiki? Well, I'd buy it by the pound and slather it on damn near everything - burgers, grilled veggies, who cares...it would just be a vehicle for that sauce that slays. We both liked it so much we ordered extra, scooping it generously on the burek, creating a fine hot/cold/sour/sweet/crunchy/soft combo that, well, now just writing this I feel like Pavlov's dogs drooling at the thought. We also also tried two sodas, one elderflower and one like a flat Coke with orange. Both interesting and hitting the spot vis-a-vis the salty fatty burek. (See pics)We got baklava to go. Son reported to have enjoyed it.The bill was $26. Seemed a little high, but in retrospect, maybe nah. A shot, an iced coffee, a very filling snack for two, two sodas and a baklava...made sense. And was well worth it for the experience. As a side note, you walk in and feel immediately transported into another world. You are no longer in Buechel. That is a huge part of the experience. Go here now. Don't be afraid to ask dumb questions, they will answer all of them with a little perplexion but with a gentle ease that mitigates your shyness and/or ignorance."

This restored building is very cool with multiple rooms for dining including above the main entrance. With free street parking out front, I was able to grab a spot and proceed to order at the long side of the L-shaped counter (pastries are displayed on the short side facing the door.)I decided to go with a Reuben sandwich that comes with potato salad and chips (odd combo). I also ordered a Peachberry Crumble from the pastry side while waiting and an iced Pekoe Tea. They have utensils on a display at the far end of the counter. The crumble was a perfect blend of berries and peach flavors and was more of a "bar" than a crumble since it held together nicely. Great taste. The Pekoe Tea was refreshing and just hit the spot after all that walking! Before long, one of the staff brought out my plate and additional utensils and napkins. The Reuben was huge! It came on diagonally slice marble rye and the sauerkraut was pickled with a tangy tart flavor. Really good, but I decided to save half of it for later. The potato salad serving was rather small, but it was delicious. Just a bit of crunch on the potatoes (not sure what they did, but it was good!) The chips were lightly seasoned and were tasty (not just salt). Nice crispy crunch there too!I was really surprised how much I enjoyed the meal and liked that even in the hours after normal lunch, they were still having folks drop in. The coffee selection is on point and all their baked goods are made fresh from scratch daily (you can truly taste the difference). Both their breakfast and lunch menus are extensive but no exhausting and I have yet to taste something that I didn't enjoy immensely. If you need a good place to work, I suggest before the lunch crowd starts rolling in around 11/11:30am, but their wifi is strong and reliable (and free), the atmosphere is comfortable, and the tables are plentiful. "Of the many sandwiches and wraps to choose from, I opted for the classic reuben; instead of the traditional corned beef, I requested turkey with a slice of bacon (it was being cooked when I walked in and I could resist it), sauerkraut, thousand island dressing and creamy melted swiss cheese, toasted on swirled rye bread. Instead of chips, I swapped it for a salad for a $1.50 up-charge.While they have several excellent salad choices, I really like the creatively named, Tangled Up In Blue; it contains greens with dried cranberries, bleu cheese, croutons, and walnut vinaigrette. For dessert, I got an oatmeal raisin cookie.I really enjoyed my lunch, but a few criticisms. First, I am eating something beyond healthy, only to stare at a slew of soda taps as a drink choice. I mean, I'm not looking to chase my deli choices with soy milk, but a nice selection of teas would be nice. Also, a sandwich, small side salad, and cookie cost $12. I can't afford that everyday, but then again, anything healthy is going to cost way more. Lastly, I don't get lunch until noon, so I guess that is late, comparatively. A lot of the salads and desserts were sold out. If certain selections are selling out while others are consistently left over, adjust what types and how many you are making each day to better serve others with the same choices as the early birds received."
