"Well stocked beverages with helpful staff answers product questions. Second visit and both times I found all I needed. Now everyone doesn't or maybe out of a particular item they will try to have hard to get products. Clean and large selections. Lot parking. Located in shopping center."
"I was passing through on the way to Ohio and this store had a whiskey I was looking for. This location is huge! They had every kind of whiskey and bourbon you could want and some hidden gems you didn't know you needed. The sales people were really nice and knowledgeable. I'll definitely stop by on my way through again."
"Ever since I visited Bacchanal in New Orleans, I've been wishing for a local wine shop where I could taste wines - and buy a glass before a bottle. The Wine Shop offers both - and small bites to eat as you sip. It's kind of like sitting in a friend's kitchen and telling them what you like or don't like and then having them make a recommendation and pour you a taste - before the full glass. If you really like it, you can buy the whole bottle to take home or just to sip on with friends in the shop. The owners - Jason and Robin - are transplants to the area and have settled nicely into New Albany. I hope they are successful and able to expand into an outdoor area this spring. Highly recommend this spot."
"The prices are a rip off. E H Taylor Small Batch for $110 when I was there. Not the place to seek the bourbon you are looking for when out on the trail. Pass this one by unless you need beer and cigarettes."
"We went to The Pub on Second for a night with The Bourbon Lady. Barbara was so informative and engaging. We had so much fun learning about and drinking bourbon."
"This place is lexington's best kept secret. Gary and Allie make the most of their tiny shop, keeping only the best wines/quality "bang for the buck" wines. They are always ready with recommendations, food pairings, etc. I have never come away from here disappointed with any purchase. To add the icing on the cake, I think $20 is the most expensive bottle I have seen in here, with the average price hovering around $12. This is the only place I will buy wine anymore, love it!"
"Friendly Tell City store providing a bit of everything. Large collection of mini bottlesLocal Indiana wines."
"Happy liquors is a liquor store located in a highview community shopping center in Lousiville Kentucky Just off of Beulah Church Road.I've stopped in this store several times over the years and the worker here is always super friendly and accommodating. Never rushes you and always willing to be helpful. This liquor store isn't too far from my everyday travels so we stop in here from time to time to grab a drink for an event or occasion. The bourbon collection here is solid and they don't jack up secondary prices too much if at all. They will also get some solid store picks in from time to tome. Overall a nice liquor store with nice workers that has a broad selection and serves the purpose for what is intended."
"It was my brothers birthday and I wanted to play a horrible mean trick on him by getting him a birthday card that was for a kid while the man is turning 40! I also had to get him some tiny bottles of bourbon wrapped in glitter wrapping paper that they had in their gift section, it was epic! The lady behind the counter was so awesome and let me put the gift together with all the glitter going everywhere at the front of the party mart! It was a glitter bomb for my brother! It was so fun and I am So glad that they were nice and let me do that at their countertop!! I would definitely come back to shop at this party mart!"
"Living on Lexington's south side, Happy Hour Liquor is super-convenient for me. And being able to support one of our local Yelp Elites, owner Aaron R., makes shopping there a special treat!Located on the Bypass in Nicholasville, it's an easy in/out which doesn't require you to descend into the traffic light central that is downtown Nicholasville. That factor, plus having a convenient drive-through window, staffed by mask-compliant, friendly folks keeps me coming back. They handle special orders and requests and always make sure to have Le Fin du Monde available for me. It's a delicious high ABV Belgian style triple/tripel ale brewed in Canada which reviewers have described as having notes of coriander, pepper, spices, bananas, and oranges. Get ya some if you haven't tried it!Back to Happy Hour Liquor, they have a massive bourbon selection, select barrels, and a wide selection of craft beers. They have holiday themed displays, which can be useful for those needing celebration ideas. Currently, you'll find Valentine's Day displays around the store. They plan to host events, including local networking events, bourbon clubs, and various type of tastings. And to top it all off, they're currently installing a bourbon bar/patio which will be top-notch from all I've heard! And this will further establish Happy Hour Liquor as a destination spot well worth making the drive to from anywhere in central Kentucky.Owner Aaron R. puts it best:"When was the last time you walked into a liquor store and felt at home? Sure, many liquor and wine establishments have an expansive selection of spirits, fine wines, affordable drinks shoved into spaces without care and without thought. You know those bottles are just sitting on the shelves, getting dusty because no one seems to take the time to explain to anyone what they actually are, what they pair well with, etc. In fact, when most of us even think about a liquor store, we don't exactly think of the most inviting place in the world.Get ready to have an unseen experience of a liquor store, because Happy Hour Liquor (formerly Bypass Liquors) is making that happen through customer service, extensive knowledge of their products, and a stellar high-end bourbon bar (coming soon) that you can't find anywhere else. Stop by and meet the staff, browse our selections and grab a pour that will treat you like a warm Kentucky hug. Cheers!"Give them a shot, you'll be glad you did!"
"I have always liked this store. Good selection at reasonable prices. First noticed it years ago when I use to frequent the place next door( Brix wine bar)Which I also recommend and if your pressed for time the liquor store has a convenient drive through-window"
"Small little liquor store with a drive thru section. Excellent service in my humble opinion. They have a great selection of wines, beers and liquors, especially small batch bourbons. Whenever I'm traveling out of town, I take a bourbon as a gift. I usually come here because the staff are knowledgeable and willing to help. One time I went to a larger liquor store and felt less confident with my purchase. On my last trip here, I needed to get a bottle of bourbon that wouldn't be available in any other state but was still comparable in taste to a bottle of Woodford Reserve and they gave me at least 4 options from different price points. I enjoy the fact that they take their time helping customers. I just started following them on Facebook and realized that they have frequent tasting events in store and they even have in store beer taps and growlers. Looks like officially I have no reason to go to a bigger store because they got everything I need!"

Excellent. Some background: B Rad, Kathy, and I led an expedition into Hoosierlandia to scout out places for a future "About Tree Fiddy" UYE and went to Oliver Winery in Bloomington. Excellent place! I was excited to find their wine that I use in punch was available at this location. I don't have to go over the river and through the woods to Oliver Winery to get this, I can just go about a mile from my home. This is marvelous. Yes, Virginia there is a Santa Claus. No, B Rad, they don't sell mud. They do have a great selection of wines for where we're at. This isn't total wine, this isn't a big box store. Some dude and his family run this place and I've only ever seen the family running it (it is right by my gym) so previous problems that people have had with employees have cleared up because now it is straight up mom and pop. I can get behind a mom and pop all day and the part of the night I'm not sprawled on Karen's basement floor wondering why Anderson Cooper doesn't call me back. Why does this place get four stars instead of three? They had a huge selection (compared to the size of the store) of local wines and beer. I think that's wonderful. I haven't fallen in love with any of the local beers or near local beers BUT I know my friends have and now I know where to get some before going to their homes. I also know that supporting local businesses is good for everyone. If you want Bud Light you need to reexamine your life choices and also: go to Walmart. If it is Garbage de Blanc you're looking for they have it AND in the vintage you prefer. If you're a grown up and looking to drown your sorrows in quality then this is your jam. I would recommend this to any of my friends but they're all average to above average to amazing people and none of them live in BC. They live in the Highlands where men with handlebar mustaches come right to your door on those old-timey bicycles with the outsized front wheel with the booze you ordered by carrier pigeon and only accept tips no one has ever heard of. Also, they have a drive through to make your DUI that much easier, Bullitt County. WOO WHO!

It's every bit as good as Liquor Barn and maybe a tad better. It's smaller, though the selection of beers, wines and spirits are top notch. The best part is that their prices are fair and maybe a tad lower than most of the independent stores. It's reminiscent of Evergreen, a great liquor store on Shelbyville Road in Louisville. It's on par with Liquor Barn in regards to the prices of hard to find bourbon except for the Buffalo Trace products, which is somewhat of a moot point since you can only get them unless you win a "lottery" for a chance to buy them. It's so ridiculous that I'm over the Buffalo Trace hype and have gone to more readily available great bourbon, and I've found them here at John O's. I've picked up some Orphan Barrel Rhetoric (20 and the 25) and a bourbon that's better than anything Buffalo Trace puts out, Elijah Craig Private Single Barrel, Barrel Proof. IMHO the best bourbon out there right now. To be honest, they are hard to find too but I've found them at John O's. At $100 it crushes Weller 12 or Pappy 23 which go for $325 and $1000 respectively on the secondary market and independents.

Great wine at bargain prices. I love all the staff here. Funny, polite, and genuinely helpful. If only more wine shops like this were found in Lexington so one didn't have to drive across town.

"Right of the interstate. Not attached to the store. I think this location even had a drive through. I went in and checked it all out. They have a walk in cooler nicely stocked. They carry my husbands favorite Coors Original. Not many places carry this. He was happy so I was happy! Have returned several times since!"
"Once upon a time, Lexington only had Liquor Barn as our mega liquor store. Now, we have Total Wine & More. Not only do we have this newest location in Hamburg, but we have two TW locations. I'd been to other TWs out west and even the one in Louisville. Like the one in Louisville, our Lexington locations have THE BEST bourbon selection. My husband loves their cigar selection. They have a humidor room. You walk in and choose the cigar of your choice from the variety of boxes and then grab a ziplock bag by the humidor room door."
"Due to the events of the coronavirus virus in April I was looking for a safe way to purchase beer and didn't want to enter Kroger. Just isn't worth the risk to me. So enter Sunset Sprints......... now you can pull up to the side door and they will take your order and even place your purchase in your trunk. The workers were nice and helpful. This was a smooth deal and glad to find a better option. Now 07-18-20, the drive through option is no longer available."
"Dope place. One of the better locally owned liquor stores in the whole city.- Great Selection of wine. They have it separated by region and type. France, Spain, California, Australia... And then go from there.NOTE: If you're a vegan, they have their vegan wines labeled. So you know that you're drinking a vegan wine.- Good bourbon selection. Not an unreal selection, but a good one. And they have a couple of store picks, which is cool.- There's a tasting bar, so you can taste something before you buy it. Terrific.- Legit beer selection. Imports and craft.Honestly, for those of us that live downtown, Waterfront Wine & Spirits is the best place to go for the selection + value."
"What a gift to NuLu! Goldie's recently opened, and I had to check it out. This spot is a mix of gift shop, grab-and-go food options and coffee shop. And there's something to love about each.First, the gift shop: This spot is packed with so many neat finds, many either made locally or items that would be locally cherished. Fun takes on cookbooks, candles, cooking items, homegoods and more. This would be a great spot to duck into if you need a gift for someone who loves Louisville or who you would like to share your love of Louisville with.Second, grab-and-go: Goldie's has a few fridges stock full of drinks -- some of which are local -- candy, pasta, sauces, dips and more. I doubt a stop here will satisfy a need to go to a grocery store, but you could easily find some fun sides for a party. Last, coffee: This spot is complete with a cute coffee counter. Its menu included some seasonal faves as well as coffee staples. I got a chai latte that definitely hit the spot. Goldie's is such a fun addition to NuLu, and one that didn't really exist like this before now. Can't wait to come back, perhaps accompanied with a visit to next door Bar Nada Nada."
"Updating review because I had forgotten I had ever even reviewed before, and now I have more glowing to do. You guys, I realize now work in Norton Commons, so I'm biased, since is the closest nearby watering hole when the day ends. BUT. There are so many wines, it's overwhelming at times. In the good way. The bourbon selection makes the wine list look minuscule. And the beer is not to be laughed at. The whole reason I'm updating, though, is the staff. They are so. Nice. So nice. Knowledgeable, without being pretentious or too knowledgeable that they confuse the patron. So friendly, be it your first, fifteenth or fifteen hundredth visit. Funny. They are the reason behind the neighborhood bar vibe, and it makes all the difference. Rave over!!"
"Definitely go Top Hat for your liquor if you are anywhere near Louisville. I found maybe not the greatest number of bottles, but the absolute best selection of interesting and different bourbons, rye, and Scotch. I got a bottle of Angel's Envy from the lovely young lady you see in the picture. She is a brand ambassadors for Angels Envy. I bought a bottle for around 50 bucks and they engraved it with my daughter and her husband's name. I just gave it to them for the husband's birthday and he was delighted. I was delighted because they shared it with me. Perfect."
"We visited the new location on Harrodsburg Road in Lexington Kentucky. The decor it's just as lovely as the other one in Chevy Chase. We were so pleasantly surprised with the brunch at Bella Café. Many of the menu items included a trip to the European breakfast bar. It was packed full of delicate pastries, meats, yogurt, juice and more.I had the Forest Omelette with mushrooms and goat cheese and a truffle butter for my bread. My husband opted for the Kentucky Benedict. We both enjoyed our meal very much and are looking forward to another visit."
"always has great deals on booze. check the sale shelf. i always get birthday gifts for friends and family here"
"Fun atmosphere and they have some quality burgers. It's divey and cheap, so come in and support some small town business and enjoy some local music. Bring a dance partner and have a good time. They have pool tables, jukebox and plenty of the locals will yank on your ear if you're looking to chat a while."
"There is nothing terribly shocking to say about the liquor store. It has beer, wine, and liquor. And they sell it. That get's a thumbs-up in my book. They do have pretty late hours, which is really nice for insomniac drinkers. And they do have a selection, albeit a very small one, of cigars, if that's your thing. The craft beer selection is decent. Not all that great, but OK. I was able to find some pretty cool brews here, and had a pleasant tasting time. The beer went down into my belly quite pleasingly. I'll probably be heading back to pick up some more choices from this place."
"Took my husband here for a surprise lunch. The name of the restaurant says it all - gorgeous lake views. Service and food was excellent. My husband enjoyed the veggie wrap and I had the fish tacos. The fried pickles were delicious as well. Will return soon!"
"Great selection. Friendly and helpful staff. Shop there for my bourbon and visit the PX and Commissary as well."
"Pre-lockdown review.I have no idea if this is the correct listing. I tried to check and see which biz listing made the most sense re my experience and there were two to choose from. Oh, Yelp. In any event, this is the wine bar (store) on Douglass. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about even if the platform is a bit confused. It was a late-fall Thursday when a friend and I decided to catch up over a glass of wine. It had been a minute since I spent time in this part of town and was dubious about reports of a parking lot. I arrived early to park on the street (not at a meter) and made my way inside. I arrived just as the bar was opening and made some small talk with the barkeep. I claimed a table and made my way through the space -- looking at bottles and admiring the collection. My friend arrived and I sat her at our table.* Walking up to the bar area, I noticed the prices (high) and selection (curated and not very big). Taking my friend's lead, I opted for a syrah and kept it moving. The pour was generous (appreciated), the wine was dry with a surprising floral forwardness and the glass was impressive (I have a thing for glassware). We brought our wine back to the table** and commenced to catching up. I found myself very taken with the vibe of the bar. The tables are hidden throughout the space which lends to privacy and with every table surrounded by different bottles, it adds to a unique experience no matter where you sit. I liked it.*** *Despite having a jacket and bag (sans expensive items in it), a woman tried to lay claim to the table. I know I've been gone a while but I'm pretty sure I'd left the universal sign for 'people are sitting here.' **There may have been a side-eye exchange.***I understand that the space may have changed in the [admittedly considerable] time it's been since I visited so ymmv. Plus, I was not there when there were dogs in tow. I didn't know this was a dog-friendly bar. I like my friend's dogs. Strange dogs... not so much. I don't know that I'd enjoy drinking around them. Again, ymmv."
"What's with all these local chains I am just now discovering years after living in my hometown? Were these always here? Did they just pop up out of the ether to troll me and my local knowledge? I have questions.Since giving up the gluten, I am not as regular a frequenter of liquor stores (how I used to love me some beer) but when I have occasion to enter one, I like to shop local. On this evening, I was keeping it pretty basic: beer and cider. For a smaller store, I thought the selection was decent. I wasn't looking for any craft beer outliers, so I can't speak on the availability in that regard. I was impressed that the cider selection was more than Angry Orchard. There were varietals (is that the right word to use in this context?) I'd never seen before. I wanted to buy them but I knew the other cider drinkers were looking for something with a bit more universal appeal. A quick scan of the tequila collection revealed some good choices. I wouldn't be surprised to find some real gems if given the time to look around. The price was right and the service was disinterested but not rude so... good. A-OK, even. If a neighborhood resident (or, boozing at a neighborhood home), you know what to do."
"Anytime that my husband and I travel away from Lexington, we stop in at at least every other liquor store, on a hunt for bourbon. Not just any bourbon, though. He likes the rare bourbons that most places keep behind the register area. While we were on our way to The Berea Craft Festival this weekend, we passed this huge liquor store. Of course, he had to turn around. They have a drive thru, but I was thirsty and was hoping to find a soda or tea. Score! They even have a soda fountain machine, it wasn't working, but luckily we scored a 20 oz. Mountain Dew. I hadn't had a Mountain Dew in years! At $1.90, it's not your average convenience store prices. Speaking of the prices, all of the liquor prices seemed a little steep, but I guess they are probably the only liquor store around and can get away with a slight price hike. They did have a clearance section in the back though. Despite the prices, they had a large selection of bourbons... nothing rare though. The lady behind the register said that the rare bourbons only last a couple of days after they get them in."
"Great little liquor store. Very friendly service. Great location right on the highway. Priced reasonably."
"We're visiting from Virginia and stopped in on a whim trying to check out all the local liquor stores. The beer selection was decent for the area, and of course, plenty of bourbon. We had just finished a round of disc golf at Meade-Olin park, and were surprised when we rounded the corner to see a fairly large selection of discs, including some champion and blizzard plastic. Prices were a little higher than we're used to, but the guy that was working behind the counter (sadly, we didn't get his name) was really nice, had some good knowledge of disc, bourbon, and he bought us a Sprecker's cream soda because he said it's awesome, and we had already picked up some Abita root beer. All in all, super nice guy. We'll definitely make a stop in next time we're in town."
"Looking for the best prices for alcohol around Florence? Look no further. With a knowledgeable tribe and caring staff they will help you find anything. This spot has got a really good selection, could be a bit bigger but the beer cave is one of the bigger ones I've seen in a while and the normal selection is all there for shelving alike.Easy access off the freeway. What more to say?! Looking to supply for your next party. Step into Liquor City. Plenty of parking too!"
"The store is clean and shelves are neatly stacked. They have limited varieties but it is a smaller store. Sadly, the first thing that greets you are photos of people who have stolen goods from this location. The man staff member who was working in the back did not hear the door bell. He was polite and validated my selection of a California merlot for dinner guests. The price was slightly higher than I might have paid elsewhere. (Dinner guests were delighted with the selection). Many cars used the drive-up window and though there were cars waiting in line, the male clerk did not rush through finishing my purchase. If I had more time, I would have likely visited a local wine shop as that was all I wanted. But I was satisfied with the service here."
"I can't say enough about this awesome company. We were looking for a unique experience for some Bourbon curious gents from the East Coast, and one of our five found out about Matson and Gilman. They planned an unbelievable experience for us that could not have been better. Nicole was an amazing host, everything was first class, and we felt like we got an experience far beyond the other other "tourists" discovering the bourbon trail. Everything was planned perfectly, every distillery a special experience (7 in two days!) and all the extras made for a trip we will remember for a long time. I HIGHLY recommend using their services for a customized and memorable trip. Thank you Nicole and Matson+Gilman!"
"This is without a doubt the best place to buy spirits in the entire area. I have been familiar with this establishment for over a decade because of it's location next door to my favorite Japanese restaurant in Louisville. Back in the day the focus actually use to be more of the wine and they had a wine cellar in the back area for the expensive or very high end wines they carried. This is the area that is now used for tastings and other gatherings. I actually miss that wonderful cellar but can understand that the current market climate is highly focused on bourbon. As many others have said you can literally find almost anything you want here. Even many speciality items not carried by the big box liquor stores. I have a specific vineyard and type of grape of sherry that I particularly enjoy and this is literally the only place you can find it in the area. Shelf after shelf of wonderful offerings. They also have excellent and knowledgeable service something else that is also rare to find today. Make a stop here and just browse I am sure you will find something you did not know that you needed."
"Our server was fantastic and had great recommendations! She was very attentive to our table and made sure our waters stayed full. The place has an indoor and outdoor seating areas. We sat inside near a window so still had a nice view outside. Started off with a dozen oysters that were shucked to perfection! Came with the fixings to flavor them to your liking. Next the cornbread! This is a flavorful, melt in your mouth style of bread that comes with honey butter. Absolutely delicious and highly recommend trying!"
