Classic theater in fun college town?!? Yes pls! I've seen everyone from Reverend Horton Heat to Melissa Villaseñor from Saturday night live to the chefs challenge with my 10YO. Love. This. Theater. I haven't had a bad seat yet; Although sitting up front for a Saturday night live comedian is pretty exciting. The parking situation can be challenging so I get here a little early. There are lots of great eateries within walking distance including Uptown Cafe, Farm, Trojan Horse and Osteria Ragu. Try out a sweet treat at the chocolate shop next door or a classic Chocolate Moose Ice Cream cone. Just strolling the charming downtown after an event is very date worthy. Thanks to all the volunteers who keep this place running so smoothly!

We moved to Bloomington a year ago last May and ever since then I wanted to go to the Buskirk Chumley Theater and experience Carrie Newcomer in concert. My dreams came true on Friday evening Before the concert began we were informed it was the ninety ninth anniversary for the theater. what a way to celebrate an anniversary with Carrie Newcomb and her trio as well as the duet known as Over the Rhine. in the spring the theater will celebrate their hundredth anniversary. This is a quaint old theater renovated and intimate. The staff was very helpful. concerning covid 19 you will need to prove you are vaccinated or have a negative test result. They want to stay open so the rules are important. Try them out especially as they prepare to celebrate their anniversary next yearr.

We had the pleasure of seeing Elf at the theater. It was a great performance. The area to get to concessions is a bit congested and difficult to get to. Not sure there is anyway to improve the flow.

I like this theatre. They show interesting things, and it's pretty inside. If you had asked me until today, I would've given five stars. The vaccine card checker at the My Neighbor Totoro showing on 1/22, however, made a transphobic comment to my boyfriend as his card was being checked. I'm deeply disappointed. I thought Buskirk Chumley was a safe space, but instead they made him feel unwelcome and uncomfortable.I hope someone working at Buskirk Chumley reads this and makes clear to the staff working there that they need to do better.

This is one of my favorite theatres in the country. It's a tap in to old history and the movies that were first shown in Indiana.Da' pictures'When they first renovated it. I saw the Flaming Lips blow out fireworks into the crowd (Against fire marshall approval). I was recently there for a screening of David Lynch's "Fire Walk with Me" Hosted by Ray Wise, and Sheyrl Lee. This place has the vibe. Go and checkout their spectacular performance and feeling.

The Buskirk-Chumley Theater is a gem located in the heart of Bloomnington. It hosts the headlining shows of the Limestone Comedy Festival as well as a ton of other great events throughout the year. I can tell you with certainty it's a great place to see a concert as well. Great sound and a great location. Bonus points for an incredibly friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Beautiful and iconic. The Buskirk is an absolute must for those visiting Bloomington. Very historic theater that we, the citizens, have kept under pristine condition. The paid staff is very minimal. 95% of those that run the Buskirk are volunteers. We drive to keep arts and entertainment alive in this busy society. I live its nonprofit nature, but my favorite part of the Buskirk is its diversity. From top shows like Rufus Wainwright to local shows like the Bloomington Symphony all the way to niche shows like Pride Film Festival or Rocky Horror...the Buskirk has it all.

For some crazy reason, despite spending four loooonnnngggg years completing my undergraduate degree at IU I had never set foot in BCT. Sad, I know. Fortunately I finally got a chance to check out this historical venue twice. Once, for the Middle Coast Film Festival and for the Valerie June concert. Both experiences were great! You can't help but to be drawn into the lights and the theatre sign. The lobby still has elements of its original charm. The theatre itself is large and spacious. Seating is comfortable. The acoustics are ok. Nothing fancy because it is an older theatre. My only wish is that the seat sections weren't so spread out because it creates a less intimate setting for live performances. Other than that tiny detail, it's a great place to go for a show! I'm really impressed with the National artists they bring in and festivals they host. They also have wonderful local products and beverages in the concession stand. A wonderful local historic gem!

This is a lovely venue, for some things. I am one of those people who are very glad it was saved for the street view and history and community (even if we do have to suffer the new name to memorialize the donor). But remember it is a restored dated building. It can feel awkward and crowded and sometimes hard to navigate. But for a small concert or play it is wonderfully intimate. I have been to many events there, most recently a play in July. Remember if you have mobility issues you can contact them and have help. I was sorry I did not do that ahead of time when I had an aged friend climb stairs. Good to know for next time.

Unique old theater atmosphere! We came for a visit to Bloomington and stayed within walking distance. They had a Hitchcock film special so we popped in. Great decor in an old theater, and you can tell it's part of the "cool" atmosphere of the college town. They seem to have a lot of events going on, so I'd recommend checking it out.
