We took a quick trip to Bombay right after a nearby Yelp event, when we were in need of something to drink and sadly couldn't take wine home in a to-go cup. You could think of Bombay as a bit of a glorified convenient store, where they also have a section for smoking tools if you're into that kind of stuff. I wouldn't really call it an 'International Food Mart,' because it is not much else than what you could get at your local gas station. They do have a few retail items that relate to Indian culture, which is pretty awesome. The customer service is not really there. They do not take credit cards unless your purchase is $5 or more, which I can understand. I did not appreciate how the clerk told my boyfriend to leave in a rude manner, when he was originally going to pay for $2 drink with his card. He also did not give me change back after my purchase. I guess he just assumed he could keep it? I would only come here if I was walking around the area and wanted a quick snack or drink. I do not smoke so I wouldn't have any desire to come here otherwise.

If you're looking for a wide selection, then this may be your spot! It is not my spot. I've been to visit on two occasions and remembered today why I decided not to go back: 1. The PricesIf you think Old Town is too expensive, then you will not like this place. Prices are marked up $1-5 more expensive in the wine section as compared to Old Town (down the street). 2. Customer ServiceWhen I asked where the cabernet sauvignons were they asked if that was a type of wine. ... yes. Darn. Poor first impression. Lets just say, they were not at all helpful.3. Organizationwines are not organized by type but by brand. So, if you're looking for a type you may have difficulty spotting all the price points, as they are scattered. Here are the pros: 1. dog-friendly :)2. toooons of selection! Have a picky wine friend? this may be your spot (ONLY if you already know what you're looking for. remember, employees not knowledgeable about wine). 3. walkable(These are the only aspects keeping them in the 2 star range)As I could not fine a cab under $11 (even the cheaper brands), I drove to Old Town. Probably will not be back here unless I'm in a real pinch.

This used to be one of my favorite spots years ago. When they first opened, it was an Indian Buffet and International Food Market. I remember going in for a buffet lunch and watching a movie from their Bollywood movie rental section in the basement. It was truly a unique place to go. Eventually the buffet was eliminated, but was still a fun place to browse the aisles of international foods. I would buy all of my Indian food there and they were even nice enough to help me with suggestions of what to make. I moved away several years ago and decided to stop in Bombay on my recent visit. What the hell happened to this place? It's now a crappy corner convenient and liquor store. I'm not calling this crappy because it used to be one of my favorite Louisville stores. The store is dingy, the terrible wood panel that separates the liquor from the food is aweful... hideous. I believe I even saw glass pot pipes in a case. Are you serious? I did see maybe 5 Indian food products that seemed to be leftover from when they actually sold international food. The shelves are barely stocked and one or two of what ever is there. How in the world could one store decline that fast? However, if your bare necessities are beer, pot pipes, potato chips and disgusting incense sticks, you might like this place. Don't go in expecting to find anything International. Terrible.

This is my first one star review and it's been a long time coming after a series of one-star worthy visits. An international food mart mere blocks from my apt is exactly what I want....but why oh why does it have to be Bombay? Two main factors are at play for any food mart: price and service. Bombay does nothing to make their prices or customer service amenable to customers at all. Nothing. In fact, I've experience countless rude statements (or worse, no responses at all) towards myself and friends who have been with my on trips to Bombay.I've had to run in here for various kitchen staples I've needed, stat. But I always end up paying an arm and a leg for anything. I paid over $5 for a little bag of powdered sugar and the only saving grace about that was that I could use a debit card without purchasing something else ($5 minimum). The casear dressing I picked up on my most recent visit cost me $2.99 and with only my debit card in hand, I had to grab something else. With pressure to hurry and choose something and looking down aisles stocked with instant mashed potatoes and canned tuna I'd never eat, I grabbed the first thing that looked appealing. A bag of pistachios. Go figure, that was $12 making my total for these two items 15 bucks! When I got home, it turned out that the casear dressing expired back in December of 2011. Seriously, over a YEAR ago?! Of course, in addition to price and customer service, quality, aka non-expired goods, would also be nice if we're talking about a store selling "food." If we're talking an international food mart, it'd be nice to actually have that stock the shelves instead of just potato chips and ramen.

This is not an "International Food Mart". All they have is cigarettes, beer and soft drinks. Very disappointing.

Bombay/Hometown is a convenient store / liquor store that has been in business for about 10 years now. It is run by some Indian guys that didn't want to be engineers like the rest of their family, so they moved to America to star their own businesses. They own an Indian restaurant out by the Gene Snyder, and the Café 360 across the street. They are good dudes, and I make a point to stop in every time I am back in town. Good prices on booze and good selections.

I loathe this place. The clerks are rude and not friendly. Many of the items on the shelf are out of date. Prices are not marked and clerk will not tell you how much items were. Steer clear of this place.

I guess I was expecting a lot more... It's got a name that will tease you and make you put a dollar in the parking meter, but you'll use about 5 cents of its worth. It's definitely good for cold drinks on a hot day. Oh, and if you need something to smoke " tobacco " out of, there's tons of options!

Bought a faulty bottle of vape juice which exploded all over my car and ruined a suit jacket and coat. Went back in immediately to ask for a trade or SOMETHING. The man repeatedly told my wife to keep quiet and then cussed me out. He then tried to fight me. Its no wonder they have one of the lowest ratings in the highlands.

Pretty sure my boyfriend and I were racially profiled here last night (Saturday evening). We were not greeted when we entered, which was fine. But when we were browsing around the clerk yelled from the front counter asking what we were looking for. We told him that we were just browsing and kept looking. Then he came from behind the counter asking us to leave because he's closing soon. I looked at him and asked him what time the store closes. He replied 2am but he had to leave early. I look at my phone it was 11:40pm. So we decided to leave and take a 20 minute stroll down Bardstown road. On our way back we passed the store. He was still there and the door was wide open and ready for business.
