There's just something about Against the Grain that takes me back to my first years in Louisville. It embodies that weird, wonderful Louisville spirit. It's creative with a sense of joy, irreverent, one of a kind. And I'm happy to see it last in its spot next to Slugger Field.I got to visit recently when a bunch of friends were in town. We ended up visiting during trivia night, which added a fun twist to the experience. Our team, The Electric Sheep, got second place! And along with the fun vibes, we had great food and beer. I got The Smokehouse OG, which is its pulled pork sandwich served on a Cuban roll. If you like pulled pork, you'll like this sandwich, though typical to their fashion, AtG puts a twist on it with its Brown Note BBQ Sauce. We had to get the pork belly on a stick -- a menu fave. And for my beer, I tried the El Nopal Mexican lager (cracked up at the name) and Cold Ass Beer red ale. AtG is a Louisville original that's not to be overlooked.

We visited prior to a tour of baseball bat factory. The pretzel was definitely the highlight & would get it again. The pork belly sticks were okay, I wasn't a fan of the molasses which is strange because I like molasses. I thought initially it was a molasses based bbq sauce but it wasn't and with a decent house bbq sauce I just didn't make sense. Maybe it would have been better if the pork belly had been seasoned but it wasn't. Honestly, kind of a let down. We each got sandwiches -- one person got the chicken sandwich that called itself the world's best. His comment, it wasn't. I asked for bbq with my sandwich & enjoyed that. One person got the hotdog and said it was good. The burger that is pictured was given a thumbs down. Not to mention when food was brought out everything but the burger came. Yah, they hadn't bothered with that part of the order so when they realized at that point we were running late for our tour. We visited here because of proximity to the tour. Besides the pretzel it was disappointing.

Andy's service & welcoming makes Against the Grain an especially desirable destination. I highly recommend it!I made the mistake of starting not one but two distillery tours without eating breakfast (Note to Self: don't do that again!). I entered and Andy greeted me warmly. I was hoping they might have take-away (no). Andy countered with, "I have just the thing for you though, how about a big as* pretzel?" :-)The pretzel was delish, warm, salty, and accompanied by a tasty mustard and cheese side. Thanks to the pretzel, and Andy, we survived the second bourbon tour. While I have no experience with their full menu, based upon Andy's warm welcome, there is no reason to expect anything less than stellar food & drink. I hope to return.Sincerely,Patrick ShaughnessyChicago, IL

Visited this place last summer before a Sunday afternoon Bats game. Good food, good service good cocktails. Industrial vibe inside, with large tables and metal chairs. Right next to the stadium!

Our group visited here at 5 PM on a Wednesday for a pregame dinner due to convenience. Parking was a bit of a hassle with $10 fee in the adjacent lot. Parking is supposedly free after 6 PM on the street side. Noise level was mild when we arrived, but extremely loud by the time we left at 6:30 with almost every table being full. Waitstaff were friendly and helpful, even more so impressed at the service level when it was extremely busy. Check out the bathroom(s) during your visit -- unique decor. (Photo included)I ordered a Cold Ass Beer and a Patty Melt and was a happy camper. Food is standard American cuisine and as expected. Restaurant decor is interesting, including a clear view of the craft brew operations via an observation window from the dining room. Would enjoy a return visit for the food, the beer, and the vibe.

We sat ourselves, and the service was prompt! Everything seemed clean, even the bathrooms. The waiter immediately apologized for the excessive noise due to some work that was supposed to be done the prior night. He clearly answered any questions we had.The loaded fries appetizer was very yummy, with the bacon crumbles resembling burnt ends--I was definitely a fan! The Derby City chili dog was very good but could have used a bit of crunch on top, like some onions. The pork belly on a stick was personally disappointing; I'm always chasing a high I once tasted and have never been able to catch it again. I needed it to melt in my mouth, and this wasn't my favorite, though I had high hopes. It came with a molasses dip that didn't pair well with it.The beer flight was great! The waiter made sure to explain each one, and my favorite was the Southend Smoke Show! The Lav Lem Luv was also great, tasting like pink lemonade.

All I can say is that they had a burger called the Wierd Al. What's not to love? I was lucky that there were only a few customers when I stopped. Must me insanely busy during games. I stopped in because I was starving after a Bourbon tasting across the street, and this place looked really cool . . . . and it was! (I mean, it's attached to a baseball stadium after all!) I was really impressed while visiting Louisville, and this place definitely added to the charm. Hopefully, during my next visit, there will be a game scheduled. It definitely belongs on the short list.

I came to this place both because I love a good brewery but also because I read this was a good place to sample Louisville's famous beer cheese. We had done a bunch of shit consecutively in the preceding hours that did not include eating so the moment we were finished with Evan Williams' Bourbon Experience (lmao because it seems like every other person came here after a bourbon tour) we b-lined for this place which was a reasonable walk from most things on that street. We were seated immediately, plenty of tables available at around 5pm on Halloween. Our server was awesome, he was so nice and did an excellent job taking care of us, always checking to see if we needed anything. We both chose something from the draught menu to wet the whistle. I already knew we were ordering the pretzel (for that beer cheese) but we were enticed by the fried pickle chips. Everything came out very quickly but regardless, they have tons of TVs viewable from every angle that allowed me to catch up on things like who was playing in the world series, for example. The pretzel itself was almost as good as the beer cheese. For starters, it was massive. The texture couldn't have been better. It was warm. The salt was very appropriately distributed. I don't have enough good things to say about this work of gluten art. The beer cheese was also phenomenal. They really don't provide enough given the size of the pretzel, even with the mustard. I was very tempted to ask for "ten more of these" when the server came over to ask if we needed anything but due to fear of rejection, I just said "no thanks!"Fried pickle chips were also very tasty. Paired well with whatever that dipping sauce was. Great time, great food.

Food and beer was good and came out fast. Saw many reviews that the place is kid friendly but it's not little kid friendly. No high chairs.
