Excellent place you'll never think you need. We own an Oreck vacuum, we bought a huge price, many years ago. Its over 18 yrs old. Just had it serviced here. Cost $130. It runs like brand new. Simply perfect. Little known notch of service not thought about very often. Completely endorse them and recommend this service. Simply excellent

Use this place a lot for all my vacuum needs. They sold me a vacuum years ago and it's been life changing for my business.

I had used A1 Vacuum on Bardstown Rd several times before for my Electrolux Vacuum but never again. I took my vacuum in for service they replaced the belt. I picked up the vacuum and paid for the belt. When I got home I plugged vacuum in but could not use it because the handle release was broken. I called Hayden at A-1 he says well it was working when you picked up. Motto: Buyer be sure to check vacuum before you leave store. Very disappointed

After passing another vacuum store on Bardstown without parking, I ventured over to A-1 to swoop into their spots just to the right of their building. The owner of the store is one of the friendliest vacuum salesmen that I have ever encountered, and as the proud owner of a colley/husky/furball of a pup, I have met a few vacuum salesmen.I have literally been through 3 vacuums since getting my dog a few years ago and I can honeslty say, I am sick of buying them, and I am more sick of them not really getting up all the fur and dirt with the first sweep. Demonstrations and reasoning were behind my salesman during this quick visit (and a check-in to Yelp provided me with a box of FREE BAGS for my new purchase when I had decided! Thanks Yelp!). We looked at multiple models and what brought me to my reasonably priced purchase was the warranty as well as the actual ability of A-1 to REPAIR the thing if something happens to it (God forbid. I bought it 2 months ago and have yet to need those extra bags yet). Turns out, buying the bagless vacuums (which are actually 'filter' vacuums that clog waaaay easier than the bagged and require emptying far more often) is a better value in addition to less effort. I like both of those things.I also like that my vacuum was made in America. Kinda nice knowing I'm stimulating the economy locally and nationally with my purchase. In addition to this, the parts are fixable and replaceable, kinda like they used to do back in the day instead of always throwing things away. Weird right? That will be FREE to do if it happens for the next 3-years I think and maybe longer, that's pretty good.I will return if I need anything, but I doubt that I will considering I was taken care of so well. Look, Dad! I made an adult purchase! Go me for being an adult!

Finding myself with almost 100% original hardwood floors in my Shotgun house, I thought it was time to purchase a new vacuum cleaner (argh). My biggest concern is cat hair and cat litter which my current Orek will pick up, but only after several minutes of working on it. I did some research on internet and decided on either the Miele or Riccar. I went to the store fully prepared with plastic bags with cat fur and kitty litter. I was assisted by one of the owners, Emily House. She was friendly and extremely helpful, I told her what I was looking for; hardwood floor cleaner and cat litter picker upper, and that I also didn't want to have to mortgage my house for a vacuum cleaner. Gawd how I hate buying appliances! I've never had a canister vacuum and both models I was shown were canisters. The Miele was extremely quiet and picking up cat litter that was put along a wall edge was impressive. The Riccar was louder and didn't do quite such a good job getting the litter up from along the wall, it also was a tad heavier. So I bit the bullet and bought the Miele, Emily took it out of the box and put it together for me too Yea! My experience at this family owned business was great, so much better than the BB stores. She even set up the warranty info so I didn't have to bother. Oh yes, she finally answered my question that I have had for years about the robot vacuums and how do the round machines get at the stuff in the corners - brushes that twirl and push the dirt out of the corner - now I can die happy. Emily also said that if for any reason I was not happy with my purchase or had any questions or problems to contact them - "we do not want unhappy customers". I think that comment by an owner of this locally owned business says it all.PS when I first turned on the Miele at home it was so quiet my cats didn't run for cover ... nice.

This business is a MODEL of what good customer service should be. We have purchased two vacuums over the years, and when we've needed parts or repairs, we have been delighted. If you have shopped for vacuums, you know there is some junk out there. A-1 sells the good stuff.

If there's anything that I hate worse than vacuuming, it's having a broken vac. These guys make the repair part easy - now only if the vacuuming was. Fixed in one or two days, at a reasonable price. Family owned, the kids now run the business. Highly recommend this repair shop if you're in the need.

I took my vacuum in to be serviced, when I dropped it off they said "it will be as good as new". The receipt they gave me said they would replace the belt and service the lint roller. When I got the vacuum cleaner home I used it for 25 minutes both the belt and lint roller both broke. When I took the vacuum back in they found extensive wear on the roller housing they apparently missed the first time. They should have told me not to have it serviced and just told me to buy a new one. Their excuse for everything is that things just break

I took my vacuum cleaner in to be cleaned and serviced. Brought it home and it would not pick up anything. I took it apart and cleaned it (which is what I paid them $70 to do) after finding it was still full of dirt. It's working fine now but I certainly didn't get anything for my money.
