I first heard of this place many years ago when I believe it was featured or won an award on the food network or something similar. Cupcakes are really good and I try to grab an assortment of when I can.The price this trip was $14.65 for 6 cupcakes and a piece of Baklava. So not bad for the gourmet little bakery. I didn't make it out of town and back on the road before that baklava was devoured.For me, it not so much about the cupcakes than it is the thoughtfulness of a fresh baked treat that you can't get everyday. I grab them as a gift for when I am traveling through.I like the new store an location. Looks good. It is a new city so I will have to go 30 mins or so out of my way but will still make the journey on occasion as a treat when coming in. I just have to avoid the bypass but maybe the shop will help bring some more business into downtown Portsmouth.Service and experience has been hit or miss for each visit or attempted visit. This was my first visit at the new shop and was ok. As a customer I just don't feel valued or anything special here. It's like the excitement of them being there too is on or off. Just some good cupcakes and treats so that can be enough. Will see how future experiences at the new location goes and looking forward to updates with any future reviews.

I have been going to 83 Sweets for 3 or 4 years and have never once had a bad experience or a bad cupcake. And the cupcakes -- oh my! They are absolutely the best! Their buttercream frosting is second to none -- creamy, soft, not greasy and not gaggy-sweet. I have always found the staff (yes, even the younger ones) friendly, helpful and professional. I used to go twice a week until we moved out of the area,but now make the trip at least every month. These cupcakes store well in the fridge too, just make sure to let them come to room temp so the icing can soften. Every flavor is so good it's hard to pick a fave, but the white wedding cake and the lemon are at the top of my list. Highly recommended.

'83 Sweets makes some of the best, if not THE best cupcakes within a 100 mile radius!Every single cupcake flavor is unique and delicious. Their cupcakes are made so well. They're always soft, fluffy, and perfectly moist.And their brownies....Oh! The brownies!! So good!!Definitely stop in and check this place out. They were the winners of Cupcake Wars for a reason!

First I wouldn't consider this place a bakery. I knew they had won the cupcake wars on food network. Big deal, a cupcake is a cupcake, right? I figured (having not seen the show) it was how they decorated it. A person at work gave a strawberry cupcake from here. Oh my God was it good. The cake was fresh, moist, flavorful and soft. The icing was smooth and not too sweet. By smooth I mean it tastes like they beat the icing overnight. On my next trip past the bakery I stopped hoping for another strawberry or German chocolate that I'd seen. I was told they only sell German chocolate in fall/winter but I just saw one last week. Must of been a extra from a special order - oh. Strawberry? Nope didn't make any of those. I looked over the selection a got a lemon and a double chocolate. They were delicious. Just like the first one. Perfect! I was later told I should have gotten the white wedding cupcake. Oh well, next trip. I deducted a star because of the service. My first visit and I didn't feel welcomed, more like I was a bother to sell ONLY 2 cupcakes. Plus I didn't know what I wanted (how awful), even though they didn't have what I came in for.

Mother's Day delivery disappointment! There seems to be a theme among even the 5 star reviews -- the customer service is less than desirable. After seeing the owners on Howie Mandel's Save Small Business - I was sold. Great idea and delicious products. As the wife of a small business owner, I love supporting small business -- especially during hard times. I placed two separate orders to be shipped to TN and was super excited to surprise the recipients for Mother's Day. Sadly, the contents of BOTH boxes had been damaged, the cake cups spilling inside the box, making the product inedible. When I called 83 Sweets, they said they were not responsible and there was nothing they could do to help me - I'd have to solve the problem myself with the post office and if I was lucky, they would refund me. This is NOT first class customer service. I understand small businesses are hurting during this time, but making sure your paying customers are satisfied should be a priority. I would have thought they would insure the shipment for this reason. A different scenario where they offered to reship or refund would have resulted in a totally different customer experience, review and repeat customer. HUGE disappointment. I was looking forward to taking advantage of this novel concept for many friends and coworkers. Morale of the story: customer experience is everything, and this experience was a huge Mother's Day dessert disaster.

Truly the best cupcakes you will find in the area. Without a doubt it's absolutely worth a visit!Initially I caught them on a bad day, and I took away a star for what seemed like rudeness in the staff, but after visiting again and again I can honestly say it was probably due to a stressful day.The kids LOVE going here, we visit at LEAST 2x a month and they love picking out their own cupcakes. Very reasonable prices for high quality desserts! We love the Macarons, cream horns, tiramisu mousse, brownies, and haven't yet tried the rest of their creations. Definitely worth the visit if you're looking for a good road trip and delicious sweets. If you're within 50 miles you should come check this place out.

This is my second visit to this store. The first visit the owner rudely yelled across the store that she doesn't take prepaid orders. So I decided to give it another chance. Apparently you can only order curbside and they have to read you off a list of what they currently have. How do you buy a cupcake without seeing it? Dumbest thing I have ever heard. Apparently you win one cupcake war and you forget your in Lucasville LOL not Dublin. You can make the best cupcake in the world but people can't get past rudeness.

The cupcakes here are really all that plus. The lady who took my order was really nice, but the younger owner was really about half rude. I asked if they were going to get a bigger sign outside, because I didn't see the place, and from not being from around here would help people like myself. She turned her back to me mumbled something then walked to the back. Great customer service, NOT. If your looking for great cupcakes this is the place, but don't expect anything else, I'll take my business elsewhere.
