Mouthwatering Restaurants in Louisville

"This is solely based on my 30 minutes there while I was on a call sitting at the bar drinking two old fashions. Service was great, bartender let me choose my whiskey for the old fashion. Was checked on quoted often between the two bartenders and host since it was between service hours (3:45pm). The gal next to me from out of town ordered some sides of Mac n Cheese, Asparagus and French Fries for her meal and it did smell delicious."

"I'm always looking for a great place that serves southern food and when you live in the South you expect to find some top notch southern food. Tonight, I visited Merle's Whiskey Kitchen which is right in the heart of Downtown Louisville. This establishment is known for their rather large selection of bourbon whiskey as you'll find every type of bourbon whiskey featured from Kentucky and also other various bourbon whiskey to choose from. On this trip however, I decided to it try the whiskey but instead make having dinner my priority. What surprised me is that the menu here gets right to the point and isn't pages and pages of food but instead a very appropriate selection of food to choose from. With chicken to tacos and more, I firmly believe you won't have a problem finding something that will tickle your taste buds and satisfy your hunger. Being as I'm a big fan of chicken and waffles, that was my main course on this trip. The chicken and waffles are some very well each with three separate decently sized Belgian waffles each topped with its own chicken tender with some bourbon maple syrup on the side. The chicken tenders were very juicy and tender and the waffles along with the syrup I poured on them as well as the chicken was so very good. For the sides I tried their shareable Mac and cheese which is definitely a shareable portion for two (and since my wife was with me we got quite a lot out of it). The Mac and cheese was very creamy and quite good. We also tried their pretzels and queso and I have to say that I've never had queso quite like this. It almost had a sort of a hummus texture if you were to keep mixing the queso. It's absolutely delicious and I could've ate just it straight from the bowl. The atmosphere here is very welcoming and that of a very medium tone when it comes to the lighting which is very pleasing to the eyes and not too bright at all. It makes whatever you're enjoying from a cocktail to some food a very pleasurable experience plus, the staff are all very knowledgeable and very friendly when it comes to answering any questions you may have. I absolutely recommend checking out Merle's Whiskey Kitchen if you're ever in the Louisville area as I know it's certainly a place I will be frequenting again and again."

"Went there for lunch with some friends today. I had the fish and chips, they had the tenderloin sandwich. Everything was simply amazing! My fish was absolutely crispy on the outside, tender, and juicy on the inside. The house made tartar sauce made the dish complete. It was accompanied by housemaid fries, which were absolutely fantastic. I wish I had thought to take a picture before I devoured my lunch. The service is always fantastic at this place. I love going there in the summer when you can sit on the patio. But the inside is beautifully decorated with amazing murals and just an overall great vibe."

"4 stars.Service here was amazing!! Jessica took great care of us during our visit.We arrived too late for brunch - the cutoff is 1:45. So, we ate off the "transition menu" which is an abbreviated menu that allows them to flip over to the dinner menu.We enjoyed the truffle fries. The brisket sandwich was fantastic. The fried chicken was tasty, too. As for the sides... The grits were very savory. The braised kale was surprisingly good. It's almost like collard greens, but with the texture of turnips - very soft. The Mac n cheese was mushy and lacked flavor - I wouldn't order that again. It's a small spot, so I would call ahead to check the wait. There are only a few tables... and then there are even less when the buffet is out.There's a bar in the other side, but we didn't check it out. Maybe next time!"

"We all got something different. I had the spinach salad and corn flake fish fingers, my husband and another had surf and turf, the redfish, redbeans and seafood. It was all fantastic but the service from Denise was outstanding. Best service I have had in a long time. Will definitely be back soon."

"My experience here was easily 5 out of 5. Food, service & ambience was all top notch!I had the Sammy's Cuban with slaw. This Cuban had pulled pork AND ham with Swiss cheese and grilled pineapple. The sourdough bun perfectly grilled topped this bad boy off! This is an exceptionally delicious Cuban!My son had the Party of 3. He got to pick 3 burger styles to try. He selected: Anthony Munoz legendary burger: a mix of beef burger and chorizo, bacon, corn fritters, pepper Jack cheese, greens and tomato. Wow! Luncho burger: mozzarella cheese chimichurri sauce, lettuce and tomato. Ooo! Fire in the Hole burger. Not super hot but it was one great burger. Pepper Jack cheese, chipotle adobo, breaded jalapeño, field greens and tomato.We also had Mexican street corn and fiesta fries. Both were unique and delicious!As Arnold said, 'I'll be back!'"

"Great food great service great view. Enjoyed my dinner here and to see all the memorabilia from rowing to football to boxing to car racing and baseball. A must go to when visiting Cincinnati . "It's seldom that a restaurant clicks all of the buttons for me, but this one did! Decor- upscale and tasteful- check; Service -impeccable - attentive but not bothersome- check; Food - OMG!!! - checkMy husband and I thoroughly enjoyed a special meal last evening. I had the 12-oz ribeye with caramelized Brussels sprouts. Before I get to those, let me mention the circle of rolls that came with a tallow butter candle burning in the center. That butter (and the herbs below it) seeped into those rolls and that literally became a party in my mouth. On the the steak. The steak was melt-in-your mouth tender and cooked to perfection. The caramelized Brussels sprouts were by far the best I have had in Louisville . They were loaded with maple bacon chips, candied pecans and a delicious balsamic dressing. I can't say enough about this dining experience. We will certainly be back. The establishment is located off Westport Rd on Herr Lane and there is plenty of dedicated parking."

"You just have to love the atmosphere. I have been to a number of old pubs in England and this harkens back to those days. The lobby and the restaurant are so darn comforting that I hate to leave. Mariemont, itself, is modeled after an old English village concept by Mary Emery. The Exemplar restaurant sits inside the Mariemont Inn - an old half-timbered and brick building.The food is some of the best in the area. I go often just for their omelettes and variations of eggs Benedict. I eat out almost every day and this warm, inviting, and comfortable place is on the top of my list. The quality is consistent. In addition, the wine list is varied - in a good way. I especially like the Chateau Montelena and the Super Tuscan. I strongly recommend that you give the National Exemplar a try."

"Stopped in for brunch. They are having the roof redone so it looked like it might be closed due to big crane out front. It was open. We were seated quickly and our server was Ryan. The noise was nonstop from the roof being redone. We got pancakes,eggs, hashbrowns, sausage,biscuits and bacon between us. Everything was very tasty and cooked as we ordered. They kept the coffee flowing as well. We would return once construction is done to avoid the noise."

"Got the Barvarian Pretzel for the appetizer. Bone in Ribeye with baked potato, side salad with ranch and Brussel sprouts and the cheese cake for desert. Service was exceptional. Quick and friendly. Very nice atmosphere. Dont let Tavern in the name fool you. Blinkers is awesome. The bone in Ribeye was one of the best steaks I've ever had. Cooked to perfection. Add the garlic butter. I can't get over how good it was. Thier homemade ranch was excellent. The Pretzel was huge salty and good. We will be back for sure. Oh oh. The cheesecake was some of the best I've had."

"Always a fun time to play games and eat American style foods.I enjoyed the Mac attack tacos, they were filled with yummy Mac and cheese and pulled pork. The honey chicken tacos were a little too spicy for my taste but other wise tasty. They offer good options for a kids menu, with sides and drink $7 plus four play coins. They can get pretty busy so go early for no wait, but there's games to play while you wait"

"Coming home from shopping in Cincinnati and we found this gem. It seemed unique so we wanted to try it. Very quiet late on a Saturday night. Inside is spacious. Casual yet classy. To start, we ordered the fried dumplings. They have a pork filling with a sweet chili and cream cheese drizzle. They were very good. Think crab rangoon but with pork. I ordered the Lindsay Lohan hot dog with goat cheese and onions based on the servers recommendation. It was very good. Very different from any toppings I've had on a hot dog. They do cut the hot dog in half to cook. I do wish they left them whole so you get the "snap" of a good hot dog. My husband ordered the chicken tikka hot wings. There are 6 to an order and they are a good size. The sauce was good but lacked a punch of flavor. As our side, we ordered the cheese curds. They were very good with a cheese pull that is very satisfying. Server was great. Kept our drinks filled and was happy to give recommendations. Overall, recommend giving them a try. The menu is very unique and has something for everyone."

"This place came recommended from our Buffalo Trace tour guide, and it was easy to understand why once we were there. Great hospitality from the bartender who we later learned was the owner. "It was a little tricky to find, tucked back in a little strip mall. We were in town for a conference and looking for something different. We got the Reuben egg rolls, and I don't even like sauerkraut and I thought they were delicious! I got the Voodoo Pasta and it was the perfect amount of spicy and there was so much of it! My husband got the Bulgogi bowl and it was really good too! It was also our anniversary so we splurged and got dessert as well, both the Limoncello and the chocolate mousse cake were delicious! Lastly, after having their Lavender blueberry lemonade, any other lemonade is ruined for me! A must try if you are in the area! The server was super sweet and attentive too."

"I've lived in louisville majority of my life and I have had not heard of this spot until it was suggested to visit in my foodie group. It was a large group of us so it was nice to be able to reserve online without any issues. When I arrived, I was able to find my group quickly. Once I was seated, the waiter came right away to get my drink order. I ordered a cosmo. I looked over the menu ahead of time so I knew exactly what I wanted. Once the group arrived, we placed our order. I do not eat beef or pork, but they do have other options. I ordered a fish sandwich. We also ordered some shareables like the pretzel and beer cheese and the pimento cheese arancini. When the food arrived it was hot and very good. I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. It was family friendly and had a full service bar. I will def be going back."

"A perfect afternoon break, I popped in to Upland after checking out the adjacent bridge and enjoyed a beer before continuing my journey. Sitting at the bar, I found a power outlet and connected to the wifi for an hour or so.Quiet, comfortable, great service and the beer was refreshing. "we walked in right when they opened at 11 and were immediately sat for a table of 7. we started with the bite flight which is one of our favorites for when we have more than 4 people. i got the pickled goat salad with chicken and it was super tasty and served with balsamic vinaigrette. would rank 8.7/10. my husband got the cuban sandwich and it was crispy outside and so much flavor. would rank 10/10. some other people in our group got the greek sandwich and tomato basil pesto soup. the soup they said was amazing but the sandwich lacked flavor. soup is 9.2/10. greek sandwich was 7/10."

"This restaurant was just off the expressway and was recommended to our group as we were driving back from a weekend away. There are menus available as you come in, and you put your order in at the register as you enter. We came during brunch, and they had a wide variety of breakfast and lunch food available. And everyone was able to get something they enjoyed. I got the Vegetable Breakfast Wrap and a 1/2 order of Biscuit and Gravy. The biscuits and gravy were delicious and could be split with a friend. The vegetable breakfast buritto was also good. I really liked the sauce in the buritto and found it not to be too overwhelming. There were some side options that did come with the buritto. There was a lot of parking available which made getting in easy. You also get to enjoy some farm lands with horses as you make your way to the restaurant, which makes for a great drive."

"It was a fairly quiet weeknight and I sat toward the end of the bar in front of a tv. The bartender was very helpful with the drinks and menu. They had quite a drink menu to start with so I opted for an Oktoberfest flight. For a started I got the sausage sampler. I liked 2 or the 3 sausages.For dinner the menu was huge with many great options so I decided to get a three meals with 2 sides: Goulash, Beef Stroganoff, & Smoked Pork Chop - 8 Oz.All the food was excellent. I personally enjoyed the pork chop and stroganoff the best. Good meal in a great traditional German restaurant."

"Hobnob corner is an iconic restaurant with a deep history. The building is 160 years old and is the oldest commercial building in Nashville. The building has served as a general store, grocery, drugstore and now restaurant. The fourth generation of the Miller family now runs the restaurant. I've dined at the restaurant several times over the years and always enjoyed my meal. If you arrive peak lunch hour, you can expect to wait for a table. Today, my husband and I had an amazing breakfast. The menu has standard country breakfast options and they also have a few specials. I had the Hill Country breakfast. The eggs were perfectly cooked, velvety and fresh. The bacon is good. The amazing onion dill bread is made in house and what I ordered for toast. They provided two local jams - apricot and strawberry. There was also a side of biscuits and gravy. The food is delicious. I think this is the best breakfast place in Brown County. My husband had one of the fresh cinnamon rolls. Wow! It was huge and sugary syrup dripped as he pulled it apart. The pecans on top were fresh-fresh! He said it was "Damn good". Mariam was our server. She was friendly and told us about all the in-house pastries. She kept waters filled and brought extra plates so we could share. Mariam was a 5 stars server. In the evening, you can have wine with your meal. They have an assortment of nice wines. The building is OLD. I didn't see an entrance that didn't have steps for accessibility. I'm not sure if there is a back entrance. The unisex restrooms are tight but nice. Parking is always a challenge in Nashville. I try to get there early to find the best parking. Hobnob is a must-try if you are in Nashville."
