Cool hidden gem!Located away from the Americana area near Glendale's post office has this neat place known for their Zhengyalov Hatz which is essentially flatbread with herbs and other greens in it.Ambiance was very nice but it seems like most people just buy it for to-go. They were quick with getting my order and make it in front of you.My only gripe is that I don't think the Zhengyalov Hatz justifies $7.99, but I would definitely come again considering not many places serve this!

I came here for a lil snack and was pleasantly surprised. They have a simple wooden menu with mostly drinks and their namesake - the zhengyalov hatz.So we ordered the zhengyalov hatz ($7.99) which, unbeknownst to us at the time, is vegetarian. It is a flatbread stuffed with diced herbs and green vegetables. The version here is (I think) parsley heavy. I am no zhengyalov hatz expert, however the zhengyalov was zhengyalov-ing. The flatbread was warm and enveloped the cool greens. It made for a really tasty bite. I haven't tried anything completely new in a long time and this was surprisingly so good.We also shared the chicken shawarma ($15.99) which was also delish. They stuff it with red onions and fresh herbs, which keeps the sandwich tasting real fresh. It comes as no surprise that the flatbread and sandwich bread are phenomenal. This is, after all, supposed to be a bakery. Everything else is just a bonus.Highly recommend coming here if you're looking for something a little different and a little new.

The vibes and food here were amazing! I'll definitely be coming back to dine in.I love that this spot is just off downtown Glendale but not on the main street, making it much easier to find street parking.Inside, it's super cozy with cute decor and about 10 tables. The staff were friendly, and the food came out quickly.I ordered the zhengyalov hatz and chicken shawarma, and it took just 8 minutes to be made fresh on a Friday evening. I wasn't expecting the food to feel so light! The zhengyalov hatz was absolutely delicious--the flatbread was airy and fragrant with herbs. This was the perfect amount of food for two people to enjoy a light dinner, and it was only $24. Very affordable for an LA restaurant! I'll definitely be back to try the baklava and drinks next time.

Simple foods done well! The food is fresh, tasty and unique from what you typically get at other Armenian restaurants. The flat breads are made to order and the fillings are well seasoned. The space is perfect for a casual meal with friends and hanging out afterwards with steeped teas and dessert. People who work there are friendly and welcoming.

Small shop with seating, tends to move quick. There were two counters and it felt very open as you could see the meat spinning and the dough being rolled. Nothing special about customer service, it was straight to the point/no frills since you order it yourself.I came to get the much loved zhengyalov hatz. I didn't know what to expect since I never had it before or how to eat it. It is a thin pancake wrap filled with lots of greens. I wouldn't say I absolutely loved it and would think about it everyday but it was made well, fresh, and light. A good snack to tie you over. There were some seasonings on the table so I tried using that which made it more interesting. Also saw the guy next to me squeeze a lemon on it - might have to ask for that. Overall it wasn't for me but glad I tried it.

Such a charming spot that makes you wish you could sit there and enjoy a leisurely breakfast with friends or family. During my visit, I noticed a family savoring their Zengyalov, accompanied by stunning teapots that added to the inviting atmosphere. The customer service was truly exceptional--attentive and welcoming, which made the experience all the more enjoyable. As for the Zengyalov itself, I found the flavors delightful and refreshing; it was a new culinary adventure for me. However, I did notice a slight bitter aftertaste, which might have been from the parsley or dill used in the filling. Overall, I found the dish quite enjoyable and definitely worth the hype. That said, it seemed simple enough to recreate at home, especially since you can easily find the dough or bread at a nearby Armenian market. I look forward to returning and trying more dishes from their menu!

How have I never heard of this place before? Their signature dish, the zhengyalov hatz ($7.99), is vegan and full of flavors. I wouldn't say it's anything to write home about, but for the price point, it definitely has its merits. Check this place out if you're vegan and need something quick and cheap to fill you up. This price point is unbeatable these days.

I was online and saw an article about Zhengyalov Hatz in Glendale featured as the only Michelin-recognized Armenian restaurant in the U.S. Their signature dish--a vegan flatbread filled with a variety of fresh herbs and vegetables--looked amazing and I knew I had to give it a try.Parking: Street Parking is available and metered outside. It was $1.50 for an hour and they only take coins, but they also have an app you can pay through.Ambiance: I went during lunch on Saturday and it wasn't packed, no reservation needed! The place has a cozy, homey vibe filled with unique décor. The lady at the counter was friendly, and the whole ordering process was super easy--you just order at the front, they hand you a number, and you pick up your food when it's ready.Food: The Zhengyalov Hatz flatbread was really tasty--crispy on the outside, stuffed with a ton of fresh herbs that made it feel healthy but still super flavorful. It kind of reminded me of a Chinese chive pocket but lighter and with more greens. I also tried the Paklava, which was nice and gooey with just the right amount of sweetness. The Turkish coffee was super strong, but great if you like a dark coffee. The total price was under $30 for two people :) Overall, if you love fresh baked thin flatbread with tons of veggies and herbs in a cozy Armenian restaurant, I would recommend paying this place a visit!

Definitely an acquired taste. There is no menu and only one item is served. Steer parking is nice and the interior was beautifully decorated. Service was mediocre, I was given a cold shoulder throughout the entire ordering process. The wrap was literally just veggies, no real dip or anything. The yogurt drink tasted exactly like regular yogurt but watered down and slightly sour. It's not my cup of tea but for originality and someone looking for authentic Armenian food, this place is it.

Came here because one of my Armenian coworkers recommended this place. Ordered and tried Zhengyalov Hatz for the first time and it was delicious! They only serve this and will make you feel healthier afterwards. The variety of herbs and greens they have inside was very well seasoned and evenly combined and cut up. I'm not even sure how to describe this dish but I think it's a hit or miss depending on whether you like herbs or not. The wrap was also quite toasty and warm. It was thin and had the thickness of a burrito wrap. Other than that, it was a nice snack and experience. Portion size was also large, and price was reasonable! Service was nice and patient.
