When you walk in the place is well lit very bright and smells amazing. I love that this place is open late - it's downstairs from Spark Karaoke so you can karaoke then get some grub! You enter and you get a bowl like you would at a Mongolian BBQ place. Then you pick anything your heart desires from meats, seafood, tofu, noodles, veggies. Once you're done choosing your items you can then choose which broth or if you want it dry and choose the spice level! You'll then get rung up and you can make your dipping sauce while you wait.If you've been reading my reviews you'll know that I have a high spice tolerance. I chose the spiciest level and it was a really good kick! Flavor was 8/10 (points off for a little too much peppercorn) spice was 8/10. I felt the peppercorn numbness made the spice a bit more mild, but I was able to add Thai chilis in.Try out this dipping sauce recipe:sesame oil, sesame seeds, Thai chilis, eel/oyster sauce, soy sauce, bean curd paste, cilantroThe food came out hot and ready! Service was quick.

Self serve malatang/hot pot.I went on a sunday around 1pm and there was no line. The servers were all helpful and nice. You just grab the ingredients you want and put it all in a bowl then they cook it for you. I wish they had more meat options here though. There are 3 types of broth you can chose and i chose the classic bone broth which was full of flavors and herbs. Honestly, the broth is so flavorful that i didnt really even need any sauces. This bowl was $19 before taxes so not that bad, considering i got a decent amount of meat vs if i went to boiling point. I'd definitely be back

Typed up a whole review just for them to hide it because maybe I cussed too much? Ok fine I'll write a clean version.I used to love this place but today's visit was absolutely terrible. I will never come back again. Yes it's that bad. This is the first time ever I left zero tips at a restaurant. Two of us came in for a super late lunch. All the empty tables haven't been cleaned. There was only one guy working the front, fine. We picked our food, weighed it. The guy was very lost and nonchalant. I had to ask for my Diet Coke twice because his mind was just somewhere else. Not sure where, just not here. He pointed at one of the dirty tables and said "I'll clean it up for you". Ok cool we went to get the sauces and I was standing waiting around for at least 5 mins, guy still didn't go clean the table. Someone left and the table was pretty clean so we went and sat down. The worker, still behind the counter, yelled across the room and said "YOU CANT SIT HERE ITS A 6 PERSON TABLE!!!" I was taken aback, huh?! What's with the yelling? So I said "there's no clean table and you never cleaned it for us." He yelled, again, "DONT YOU SEE HOW BUSY I AM??" More taken aback this time, I said I'm just gonna sit here and wait for you to clean then. He said "NO GO SIT AT THAT TABLE" - he pointed at the table by the door, where two girls had just put their drinks down and went to pick up food. I was like uh it's occupied. Then he made the two girls take theirs drinks and made us sit there. Ok fine. It's friggin cold by the door but whatever I'm hangry just wanna eat now. We were talking about how terrible his attitude was, and I guess he heard it. So when he brought the bowl of food, he dropped it super hard on the table, and made a loud BANG! What the hell?? What is wrong with you?Go yell at your boss for not getting you help. Not your paying customers. I will never come back again and I'll make sure to let everyone in my life know to never give them any business. What a disgrace of a business. Like I said earlier, this was the first time I've ever paid zero tips. You should be paying me for emotional damage. Wtf.

First off, I appreciate the wide selection of veggies and proteins to add to your bowl. From what I saw, the counters and tables were very clean and service was nice. For the both of my soup, I chose Tom Yum. It was so delicious. I strongly recommend. I also added imitation crab, enoki mushrooms, and various veggies. All the items offered at the selection bar were pretty fresh. The only gripe with my experience was that the labels at the selection bar were super worn out and illegible. This is such a quick and simple fix so I'm not sure why it hasn't been addressed yet? Please go over it with a sharpie if you don't want to print out new labels. Such a small problem hindered my experience and overall rating of this place because I kept adding wrong items into my bowl (like chicken knees) because the labels were not legible.

This has become a very easy favorite of my boyfriend and mine! We decided to try this place on a whim one day and we now come back once a week! One of my biggest complaints about hot pot is that if you want to order something it comes with large, overwhelming portions so I sometimes neglect some items (especially my vegetables lol). Here you grab exactly what you want! I love that theres so much variety in the ingredients so you don't have to be shy trying something new! You start by being assigned a table, where you then place your drink order. After that you're welcome to grab a bowl, tongs, and grab whatever you want from the bar. You then take it to the front to be weighed and thats it! You sit at your table and wait for it to come out! You also pay at the end after your meal!I always order the tomato broth, which is the best tasting one, in my opinion. The tom yum and the classic bone broth are all super tasty as well! I haven't tried the dry one yet, but it looks delicious too.I highly recommend coming here! the priced are fair, the food is good, and you get the luxury of eating hot pot without having to do any of the work!

Grab ur own food! This is like mongolian bbq in food court, but instead of Mongolian, its a chinese noodle.Varieties of noodles, some seafood and vegees. You can choose how you want it to be cooked (soup based, and spice- level). You can also choose a pan fried one, that comes with free one steam rice. Friendly service. Not so much impressed with the ambiance. Its just tables and chairs, no tv, no music.

Below average, don't recommend and won't return. Interior: bathroom was super gross. Considering this is a relatively new place. Can't imagine how bad it is gonna be later on. Service: below average. They charge you 15% service fee for party of 5 or more which is fine, however they don't provide any service except to bring you the food once it's cooked. They will refill your water if you ask. Food: the choices were alright. Very limited for protein options, only beef or lamb. Tomato broth taste decent. Bone broth came out oily. Overall, this is a place I won't be returning.

The food was okay aside from a tiny fly popping up in it! I found it sitting on top of my quail egg and felt disgusted. I brought it up to the waitress and luckily she let me have my meal for free, but of course I lost my appetite already and did not finish it. The classic soup tasted good but the oil and spice made my tongue feel weirdly numb. The toppings section looked scary and nasty to be honest. I knew I should have left lol.

Zhangliang Malatang offers a solid dining experience for anyone who loves customizable hot pot-style meals. The concept is simple but fun--you pick your ingredients, they weigh it, and then prepare it in a flavorful, spicy broth. The variety of fresh vegetables, meats, seafood, and noodles available makes it easy to create a bowl tailored to your taste. The broth itself was rich and aromatic, with just the right level of spice to warm you up without being overwhelming. The ingredients I selected were cooked perfectly, retaining their texture and flavor. While the food was undeniably tasty, I did feel the price added up quickly depending on the weight of your bowl, which might catch some people off guard. The service was polite and efficient, though it's not the kind of place where you expect extensive interactions. The staff were quick to prepare the orders and made sure everything came out hot and fresh. The ambience is casual and straightforward, with a clean and modern interior. It's more of a grab-and-go or quick-dine kind of spot rather than a place to linger, but it's comfortable enough to enjoy your meal.Overall, Zhangliang Malatang delivers on flavor and variety. It's a great choice for a quick, satisfying meal, though the price-to-portion ratio might leave you wanting a little more value.

Great first time experience. I've been to several in the area so far and the soup base flavor all tastes the same...gets me to wonder did they get their soup base flavors all from the same source... (YingTang, YGF, and this place). YingTang somehow always comes out pricier so that gets us wondering did they skew the weight... Anyhow, would return. Fast, convenient, healthy, sanitary, tasty, satisfying.
