Unfortunately we haven't been here for years and new management has changed it up too much. I get the place looks more decent than before but still super tacky. The food is where it went downhill. The halwa puri was good. The cholay were a good blend but I think both that and the aloo tarkari were too little for the two huge puris that were given with it. The halwa was a bit oily and lacked sweetness. The puri came out fresh and perfect. The nihari was decent but I think I liked previous owners times more. This had a good flavor to it.The biryani is where it was all wrong. No more potatoes!!! The chicken was dry. There was not much spice in it at all and they brought out the raita after we had to ask several times. I could eat Zamzam biryani without anything but this biryani required the raita to down because of the dryness. Unfortunately the drive is a bit far, so unless we were in the vicinity, we would not be back. It is a real shame, because this used to be hands down my favorite desi place outside of home.

I do believe the quality has suffered over time with new owners and now delivers a lackluster taste. Most of the dishes, I think, have become absolutely terrible. I used to love this place, and now I am just saddened by the loss in no longer seeing Pakistani food (here) made with soul, with flavor, and with care. In my last few visits, I looked for consistency and didn't find it. I also couldn't believe that their kabobs and biryanis could lack so much flavor, being overcompensated by black pepper - made to be hotter than savory. This is just the tip of the iceberg, in my opinion.I think there's something very much missing here, and among inflated prices, I have come to an empty restaurant on most occasions. It is something to note, and as much as I don't like writing something negative about a small business, this place has really let me down.

As soon as you walk through the door the aromas transport you to an exotic land. The dishes are savory and on the spicy side. Luckily I love spicy/ hot food.

Food is wonderful! Super flavorful and authentic. We got the chicken biryani, lamb biryani, chicken tandoori, chicken tikka masala, and chicken karashi. Everything was delicious and the Nan was fluffy and soft! We got our order Togo and although they don't speak English, the service was excellent. The ambiance isn't anything special but a good togo spot. Definitely recommend for their food!

Best Indian food in la! Not sure why their rating isn't higher cuz everything I tried so far has been super delicious! It's possible they have a new chef..? My husband is Indian so we've been to our fair share of Indian restaurants in la and we've been pleasantly surprised by the quality of food here. My two favorites are chicken tandoori & chana masala.

Great for kababs. The curry dishes are super greasy so suggest sticking to the kababs and tandoori items. Very friendly staff.

Delicious Pakistani/Northern Indian food at Zam Zam Market in Hawthorne. They used to be in Culver City before relocating here several years ago, on the same block as Al-Watan Halal Restaurant. Two of my favorite Pakistani/Indian restaurants on the same block! Zam Zam has a small market of Pakistani/Indian goods. There are a few tables in front. You order at the cash register, where there's a menu on the wall with descriptions of all of the dishes. There are about a dozen items on the menu. A few of the items are available ASAP daily, a few more only on weekends, and the barbecue takes 30 minutes or so (chicken tikka, tandoori chicken, and beef and chicken seekh kabobs). Occasionally they'll have a special that's taped to the wall. The lamb biryani is excellent, just as good as when they were making it in Culver City. The karahi was great, chunks of chicken in a rich tomato-based stew. The lamb korma was good, as was the nihari. Make sure you get the garlic naan to scoop up the stews, it's delicious.Zam Zam Market is in a small strip mall right on Inglewood Ave in Hawthorne. There's some parking in the strip mall; street parking is available too although it might be harder to find, the takeaway business at nearby Al-Watan draws some traffic. Service is fast and efficient, and the stews travel well.Definitely come here for the biryani, the other items are very good too. And so reasonably priced -- nothing costs more than $15, and most items are in the $10-$13 range.
