Simply put this place has delicious food! I was very impressed by the quality of the fish and enjoyed each roll that I tried. My gf and I ordered Yunomi for takeout so I can't really speak to the ambiance of the restaurant -- however the takeout experience was great! The packaging that they use for the sushi box is very unique and functional. See my pics! If I had to nitpick one thing -- I think the edamame and green beans could have been seasoned a little bit more. Felt like they were missing a pinch of salt, but the flavors were there and this wasn't a big enough of deal to not be a 5/5 for me!

Yunomi has been on the list of one of the best sushi spots around the area and boy did it not disappoint! My husband and I went in for an early Valentine's Day dinner and were greeted by very friendly servers and got seated right away. We each got the six-course Handroll set with tuna, albacore, salmon, yellowtail, scallop, and shrimp tempura for $30 and got to choose normal vs spicy and went with the spicy. This place is well worth it for the value of this set. I would come back just for this.We did get to try some of their specialty rolls + rocky shrimp tempura but I don't think I could justify the price point for the amount that comes out. It's street parking but because of the neighborhoods, you won't have trouble. There's also a bathroom and the sinks were conveniently right outside if you just wanted to rinse. All in all, it's a great place to go with friends or significant other (although my husband did say the seats could've been more comfortable). I also think the service is standard but we got free refills on our green tea which was a huge plus. We love good deals!

What a lovely surprise ending up at this beautiful restaurant called Yunomi Handroll here in Toluca Lake, CA that had a menu so scrumptious it made me want to order everything on it. Now, being a past Angelino for many years, I am totally aware of the reputation Ventura Blvd. has (Studio City to Calabasis- some 14 miles) for its first rate sushi and 50+ sushi restaurants. I'm thinking this stretch of road rivals Tokyo, the Motherland of this cuisine. But, Yunomi Handroll was off of this famous beaten track, but still identified with Ventura Blvd? No matter! This place is the "Real Deal".There are no tables here. Just a very large horseshoe shaped hightop bar. The dynamics of this scene is not only functional, but very attractive. My friend and I both ordered their six course handroll set consisting of one each:Tuna, Albacore, Salmon, Yellowtail, Scallop and Shrimp Tempura rolls; all for $30!!!!! In Chicago where I live now this would be $75. I was aghast I was so happy. We also ordered Edamame and one Rock Shrimp Tempura appetizer.Yunomi Handroll was just this "Shocker" surprise that a person only gets rarely. My last "Shocker" was three years ago. I hope my next "Shocker" won't take that long!

We tried this cozy beautiful place about 3 weeks ago. My sisters went there and they loved it and they kept telling us to go and try. Food was delicious and fresh. Hand rolls were plan and simple. I personally love a little more flavor and more added stuff but I guess this is what they are unique for to have not too complicated hand rolls. The only one thing that I was a little not too happy about was the tall guy helping us. He wanted to get things done very fast and quick as if he was rushing everything. From the second we sat down and him asking if we had been there and ordering stuff he was very much in a rush that I didn't feel comfortable.Other than that we tried pretty much all the popular items on the menu and they were all good. Will try again definitely.

First time getting Yunomi Handroll to-go, and it was such a good experience. The staff made pickup easy, and the rolls were fresh and flavorful--not fishy at all, which was nice. Loved every single one, especially the salmon, spicy tuna, albacore, and yellowtail. Everything tasted super fresh, even for takeout. It seemed really busy (as always) on a Saturday night high energy and fun vibes inside at the bar. Definitely coming back for more!

This is my first experience with Yunomi Handroll. It's a hip, trendy decor, very minimalist. It looks more like a nightclub than a sushi bar and the clientele at this time of day (4 p.m.) were the neighborhood millennials. By 5 p.m., there was a waitlist line. The seating is high bar stools with just a couple of lower stools, for those who may be otherly-abled.The food was exquisite. I loved the tasty sides, the seaweed salad, edamame, brussel sprouts, and green beans. Then the rolls - the 3 roll set was tuna, salmon, and shrimp tempura. You can choose between seaweed and soy paper. I've decided that soy paper is my new favorite sushi wrapper. I had one special roll, the baked crab roll - so simple, yet so good. I will go back for more. My only complaint is I wish they had a few more special rolls or allowed substitutions. Great neighborhood addition to a street that already has some great sushi restaurants.

My friend & I had dinner at Yunomi Handroll on Friday. We parked on the neighboring street, which wasn't too busy at 6:50pm. I joined the Yelp waitlist about 20 minutes earlier to dine at around 7pm and we were seated timely by the bar. Service was great; the staff were attentive and you get to see the chefs make the rolls in front of you. Ambiance was also great. The lighting was a bit dim, but the decor is clean, sleek, and trendy. The overall atmosphere was intimate, yet lively.I tried the Shishito Peppers, Seaweed Salad, Soft Shell Crab Handroll, and spicy 3 Handroll Set (Tuna, Salmon, Shrimp Tempura) on Korean seaweed. Everything was fresh and delicious. My fave items were the Shishito Peppers and Soft Shell Crab Handroll. The bowl of Shishito Peppers was piled high; it made a nice starter and good to have in between handrolls. Each handroll that I tried was light, flavorful, and filling, but the Soft Shell Crab Handroll was just so crispy and tender. We definitely will come back to Yunomi Handroll!

Just ok hand rolls in my opinion. The appetizer was really good and so was the tea, but the 3 stars is related to the hand roll combos offered. - Ceviche ($18) this was actually really bomb, I'd recommend this as an appetizer. Strong tang and yuzu flavor with red onions. - 5 and 6 handroll combinations - we got this as we're big fans of handroll sets. I wasn't happy with the seaweed they used (they had soy paper options too), it was flakey and SUPER oily. The soy sauce they were using was also really salty and overall I just couldn't taste the essence of the fish. I didn't love the shrimp tempura hand rolls...I could've done without that as part of the set. Kazu remains undefeated for fish value and quality of the rolls. Inside bar is pretty big and service was good.

This is a very soothing place to dine. The space is big, the seating is super simple - bar only. Nice curving lines everywhere, and not echoey at all for how much room there is. All staff serve you from behind the bar. Everyone I had the pleasure of interacting with was super knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Food came out quickly and was impeccably made and presented.I can imagine that the wait gets long during busy hours due to limited seats, but it keeps this place pretty chill while you eat. At just after 5pm on a Saturday , I had not trouble being seated immediately. There is a 45 minute time limit on seats as this is more of a snack type menu than a full meal...altho you can easily make a full meal out of it, and I did!Tempura rock shrimp appetizer- slightly spicy, not overwhelming even for a spice wuss like me. Lovely light tempura. Great flavor. Nicely cooked shrimp. These are the curly kind, not th traditional straight tempura kind. You can see pics in the online menu.Brussel sprouts - hint of spice, delicious! Wonderful seasoning. These were fantastic and I would get them again any day. Nicely cooked, both crispy and soft.Baked crab hand roll - really nice beautiful crab flavor. So simple, crab, rice & soy paper. What a delight. Not even a hint of fishy flavor, just nice warm delicate baked crab.Unagi hand roll - generous amt of eel, soy paper, great flavor. Very simple construction let's each ingredient really shine. The cucumber really stood out in a way it normally doesn't most places, and the combination of these very simple flavors was a real delight.I will definitely be back.
