I've had Yasu bookmarked for a while and finally got to try this place! Surprisingly, there's plenty of street parking nearby, so I had no issues finding a spot. The restaurant is clean and cozy. Dinner promptly started around 6pm.The 17-course omakase was absolutely amazing for a price tag of $195/person (not including the mandatory 18% service charge and tax). Most, if not all, the fish and ingredients were flown straight from Japan. Everything tasted so fresh and delicious! My favorites were the shirako and monkfish liver nigiri since these are delicacies that you don't see often in omakase menus in the US! I was so excited to see such variety thru out the meal.Overall, I had a blast at Yasu and thought that it was a 2-hour well spent. My belly was satisfied and I didn't feel the discomfort of being ridiculously full.

BF took me here for my birthday. I wanted badly to try omakase for the first time. He told me Yasu was the best, that there was no better place we could go, and that he used to be a regular here. He set my expectations high and unfortunately those expectations were not met. To preface, I have worked at 2 sushi establishments before, so the menu I experienced that night was unremarkable. Every fish that was offered, I had already tried many different times before. There was nothing in particular that stood out to me. The presentation was definitely pretty but unimpressive relative to the price point. The courses went by extremely fast, and I had not even realized that we had already finished the last course when dessert was brought out to us. It was a disappointment how the courses were arranged. I would have thought they would save the best fish for last, but it was a huge let down when I was served what I think was a cheesecake. Which was only okay. The most off-putting part was when they served us a celebratory yuzu sorbet in honor for my birthday. It was a cute gesture, where they wrote happy birthday in chocolate on the plate. However, to my surprise, I discovered a huge strand of hair in my sorbet after I began eating it. It was definitely a very obvious piece of hair. It was not in any means small and barely noticeable. I showed the chef, and he had the waiter take it away. Not any one of them apologized to us or even offered to give us a new one. I ended up eating my boyfriends portion. I'm grateful for my boyfriend's generosity in wanting to take me somewhere nice and upscale for my birthday. I enjoyed the experience but it was honestly a let down. I wish I had gotten to try different and special fish and I was expecting the service to be better than what I received.

I chose Yazu in Beverly Hills for my birthday dinner this year, opting for their omakase experience.Chef Kusano was a delight, a kind soul who made the evening enjoyable with his interactive approach. The restaurant itself is stunning, with an impressive display of chefs meticulously preparing sushi. Here's a rundown of our meal:- **Langostino from New Zealand**: Tasty.- **Stripe Bass**: Good, but nothing special.- **Monk Fish Liver**: Unremarkable.- **Japanese Trout**: Disappointing.- **Golden Eye Snapper**: Okay, but not fresh enough.- **Toro Uni**: My favorite dish of the night.- **Snow Crab**: Forgettable.- **Black Cod**: Lacking flavor. The sake, named Manjyu, was absolutely delicious and worth the $180 per bottle. We even shared some with the chef and tried another bottle for variety.Overall, while the experience was pleasant, the omakase did not meet my expectations, especially given the $1,000 price tag.

Came here for dinner on Thursday night with a friend for a celebration with an 8:30pm reservation and we had an amazing omakase experience here. Chef Yasu was serving us and we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time so we had the full attention of the staff! All of the fish we had was of high quality and it was great being able to see the chef prepare the sushi in front of us as we were waiting and eating. You get to experience a wide variety of fish and some which you may have not had before! Several favorites of mine throughout the whole meal were the monkfish liver, tamago, & scallop!I would recommend coming to Yasu for any special occasion and you will get to eat some amazing sushi here. The overall ambience was fancy but also welcoming and comfortable. It's more suited for smaller groups so I recommend your max party size be around 3-4 people. The pricing for the 17 course omakase menu we had was quite reasonable with picing at $195 per person with + 18% service fee and after tax it came out to be around $250 per person! The value and service you get here is phenomenal and it's one of the better priced options for omakase in LA.

I have had Yasu booked marked for some time and finally got to experience the Omakase for my birthday. Yasu is located in a quiet area in Beverly Hills. The place is small and cozy. The quality of fish was amazing! Every bite was delicious even for things I thought I didn't enjoy as much like uni and tamago. The presentation was simple but unique for each dish. We enjoyed sake and beer with our meal. The Chef did a wonderful job. I highly suggest adding on the caviar sushi! Yum. I will definitely return in the future.

WOW. This has to be the best omakase place in Los Angeles. WOW. My husband and I are from NYC and we love omakase. We tried a few similarly priced places, but none of them were places we would return to... except Yasu. Yasu is priced extremely well for the quality of their ingredients, the rarity of the fish flown in from Japan, and the incredible service. You're served piece by piece at the sushi bar, and Chef Yasu explains each piece for you. There are some truly beautiful pieces that also taste delicious (see photos). We also had a langoustine!!! Such a delicacy and served beautifully. I'm sad we didn't come to Yasu on the earlier part of our trip so that we could go again. We came to Yasu at the end of our trip. We'll definitely be back. You definitely will not regret coming here. You'll probably be wondering when you can come again.UPDATE - just read someone's review about bad service. The service from Chef Yasu was INCREDIBLE. He was always making sure we were taken care of. In terms of the server, she seemed a bit inexperienced but she definitely did try. Chef Yasu made sure everything was very well taken care of though!

The first course sweet shrimp was surprisingly amazing, very refreshing and delicate. The uni deserves a photo, which floral decoration, it is a perfect June dish. Chef is friendly and humble. Highly recommend.

Chef Yasu takes you on an epic omakase! We came here for a birthday celebration and we enjoyed every bite. The fish is fresh and the cuts were super big! The wasabi and the finer was something else! I loved it to the point where I asked for extra. It's fresh wasabi!Service by Chef Yasu and his staff are spectacular. You do need reservation for the special omakase but for other tables you can do walk in. Quiet and personal ambiance!

Came on a Saturday night, was sat at 1 of the 2 tables behind the bar itself. The fish itself was ok, nothing exceptional especially for the steep price. There was quite a long wait between each individual dish around 15-20 minutes, so we ended up being there for over 2 hours. Would not recommend coming here super hungry otherwise you will be waiting and waiting and likely not leaving full/satiated. There was only 1 server for the entire restaurant while we were there, he was quite busy. One of the last of fish pieces was filled entirely with small bones (my boyfriend's piece was not though), which ended the meal on a poor note for me.
