Little upscale Korean food focusing on fusion of traditional Korean dishes. Chef menu is available and reasonably priced for 5 course. Portions are generous. Can never go wrong with the shortribs, salad was good and they offer the same dishes a la cart as well.

This is tough because I really wanted to love this place. Yangban has been on my list for a while- I love a good fusion spot. However, the food was just FINE. And at the prices you're paying, I'd say only come here if money isn't a factor. I did really like the chicken wings. Incredibly tasty and juicy. But... $12 PER WING... come on now...The atmosphere was also lacking in my opinion. They went for dim, and it was almost too dark to see anything I was eating. I found the service to be poor as well. Took them forever to approach us in the beginning and never came around to refill our water. For a place that's trying to be high end, the service missed the mark. If you want to eat amazing chicken wings for $12 a piece in the dark with no water to wash it down with, give this place a shot.

We came to celebrate a friend's birthday. This was my first time in. The vibe is great. They have 90s hip hop playing in the background. It's dimly lit for an intimate setting. All around great vibes. As for the food, we tried a bunch of things. The star of the show for me were the wings. They were delicious. Super crispy with a honey dressing and then comes with a wing sauce made with Gochujang. It was very good.As for the service.. we had Michael Scott. Easy to remember if you're an Office fan. The food, the drinks and the atmosphere alone were great. What really made the night was Michael. Super friendly, very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. It was honestly perfect service. Unfortunately and fortunately we came in on the last night before renovations so they are going to be closed for 3 months (fingers crossed it's not longer). I can't wait until they open back up in 2025!

My husband booked this restaurant for my birthday, and we had a wonderful experience with their tasting menu. The evening began with a thoughtful touch: celebratory bubbles were offered, but since I don't drink, the server graciously substituted it with a pineapple ginger spritz, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The meal itself was satisfying, with the highlights being the doenjang cream sauce teok and the steak--both were outstanding. We ended on a sweet note with a slice of cheesecake topped with a birthday candle and chocolate sesame cookies. While the banchan wasn't traditional, I enjoyed exploring the creative and unique flavor profiles. The ambiance was romantic, with a dark and moody vibe. However, the lighting made it a bit challenging to read the menu. Despite that small detail, we had a memorable and lovely evening.

A bit expensive but the service is friendly, vibes are great, and food delicious. They are also super accommodating to dietary restrictions. Absolutely worth it!Peach milk drink: good. I was expecting more creaminess. I didn't taste/feel the alcohol so it wasn't worth it for me.Blue crab tostada: everyone's favorite! Must get.Beef tartare handroll: can't taste the beef. Almost tasted like a tuna handroll. Tasty. I would have liked more pear. Wings: so good but heavy. The sauce is typical sweet/spicy, but the crispy/juiciness is what sets it apart. This made us too full. Green tea leaf salad: good, but similar to what you can get add a Burmese restaurant.Tteok: delicious but heavy due to the cream. Soy-free Tteok: my favorite dish. It was light and hearty. I preferred this over the regular TteokBanchan: each one was very unique. We all liked the walnut/date/cheese the best. You can only have the kimchi if you have gluten allergy.Cheesecake: tasty and decadent. the coconut doesn't come through as much as I would like. The jam could have been lightly drizzled/on the side as it was overpowering the delicate flavors.Service/ambience: so so friendly and attentive. The music was just right to hear one another, and the ambience is wonderful.Parking: on the streets could be tough. Try to find a parking lot and walk over. It felt safe to walk around at night but could feel shady if you are alone.

Dim and upscale take on some traditional Asian dishes. While the food was mostly delicious, some items on the menu didn't justify the prices. My favorite was the tar tar hand roll. Super savory and flavorful while not being too heavy. The uni toast was delicious but the bread was a bit hard and dense making it pretty difficult to eat. The chicken wings were well balanced too between sweet salty and spicy. Drinks were good as well. Couple of the had a large amount on its foam ratio making it hard to sip but it was nice to look at on the eye. Food: 7.7/10 (to price ratio)Service: 9/10Ambience: 9/10

We visited Yangban to celebrate my birthday, and as a big fan of modern Asian fusion, I was excited to see what they had in store. The pre-fixe menu didn't disappoint, and some dishes were absolute standouts.First up, the Golden Hokkaido Scallop Toast. This was a perfect way to start--scallops were tender, and the toast added a great crunch. 5/5, no doubt, and definitely birthday-worthy.The Green Tea Leaf Salad was fresh but didn't leave much of an impression. It was light and refreshing, but for me, it's a 3/5.The Tteok really hit the spot. The rice cakes had that great chewy texture, and the mushrooms in the creamy doenjang sauce with preserved black truffle added layers of flavor. 4/5 for sure. Then came the YANGBAN Wings. These wings were next-level. Super crispy, packed with flavor, and just addictive. Easily an 8/5--these wings were the pre-game to the main highlight of the night (keep reading). The Banchan (Honey Glazed Carrots, Steamed Broccoli, Grilled Cucumber, and YANGBAN Kimchi) were solid sides, with the kimchi standing out with its bold flavor. We also tried the Black Cod with Pea Shoot Salad (not on the current menu), and it was fantastic. The cod was buttery and paired perfectly with the fresh pea shoots. A solid 5/5.But the real showstopper was the Grilled King's Cut Short Rib. Perfectly grilled, tender, and smoky. This was hands down the best dish of the night--an easy 10/5. You have to try it.For dessert, the YANGBAN Cheesecake was light and creamy, a nice finish to the meal. 4/5. The Hot Fudge Sundae (with buffalo milk soft serve) had good flavors, but unfortunately, it was mostly melted by the time we got to it. 3/5 for that one.Misc. notes:Service: Attentive without being too much, which made for a relaxed birthday dinner.Parking: It's LA. Use valet. As a fan of modern Asian fusion, Yangban hit a lot of high notes. The wings and short rib are absolute musts--perfect for a celebratory meal!Yelp Adventures 2024 - 10/??

This was my second visit. I haven't been in a while. As a matter of fact, my previous visit was from before they did the inside renovations. A couple of friends and I wanted to come here to grab some of the desserts and possibly a cocktailbefore they closed for the night. The folks we interacted were so friendly and welcoming. Seriously, the sense of hospitality was off the charts.I wanted to come specifically for the dessert because I've always wanted to try their buffalo milk soft serve. we got that in the form of the hot fudge sundae. We also ordered the Matang Goguma Custard Pie. Both desserts were so delicious. I was surprised at how much I liked the pie. It was like crème brûlée in pie form. The milk punch cocktail I got was also very good. It almost was teetering on the side of a whiskey sour. Just well-made and delicious. So glad I was able to stop by for the desserts and cocktails here. Just a reminder their fried chicken and other dishes are really good here as well, but we only had time for the dessert this time.

Ambiance (5/5): Nice cozy atmosphere for a fun night out. Can be a bit loud, but that's the intentional vibe. Service (5/5): Servers were nice and approachable. Very attentive. Food (4/5): Most of the dishes served were super delicious. Grill salmon - cooked to perfection with nice crispy skin. Sujebi Dumplings - wasn't a wrapped dumpling but more like a pasta dish where the skin was cut into strands. Flavors were amazing. Short ribs were flavorful and super tender. Probably best to skip the banchan though. Can get much better banchan at any other korean shops for free. I can't believe they charge $28 for it. Overall, I felt like the food is very good for korean FUSION. My problem is that the portions are extremely small for the price point. $36 for 3 fried chicken. Seriously? $58 for a few bits of short ribs? Ive had A5 Miyazaki wagyu for cheaper. Their dumpling portion specifically is probably not even enough to feed a toddler and they gave us probably 1/4th of a scallop split into 3 thin slices. That being said, if price is of no concern, I would highly recommend trying this place out.

Out of all the dishes, try the sujebi! I haven't tried anything like it before. It's a small portion but it tastes really good. A bit sweet, creamy and savory. And the sujebi were soft and chewy, I wish they added more :( The Yangbang wings were your typical Korean fried chicken wings, still crispy and juicy, but sooo expensive And lastly the short rib was so small but it was super tender and the potato puree and sauce complemented it so well. The service was quick and our server was super friendly. It's a cute place for a date night since it has a great ambiance. Overall 5/5 taste. Would recommend to come to try it once, if you're looking for a date night, cause we basically devoured all the plates. But pricewise, it's pretty expensive with small portions. 3/5 price per portion.
