Came here for dineLA and the charcuterie and menu looked so good we didn't even do the prix fixe menu. Wonderful bar service as you wait for your table, and an incredible cheese and meats selection. Probably best board I've ever had! The pork tenderloin was homey and delicious and the duck breast was also yummy. I didn't like the flavor profile of the pork belly but I tend to shy away from mole and chipotle spices so that was my bad. The desserts had good flavor but the carrot cake could have been a bit more moist. Overall lovely vibes and laid back environment.

I was super excited to try out wife and the somm after seeing some reviews, but was quickly disappointed. No one greeted us when we entered and took about well over five minutes to be acknowledged by anyone. The restaurant had a unique layout, which I appreciated. It had a very cozy ambiance. Now in terms of the food, I was extremely disappointed. We were presented with an amuse bouche, but it was a piece of extremely stale bread. There were also no standouts from the food. They seem to have an interesting menu, but unfortunately it wasn't executed well. For example the cocoa pork belly (which is a recommendation) came out extremely tough and hard to cut. It seems like they were taking inspiration from mole, but it did not work in their favor. Also, the food took forever to come out!!

Lovely to see this place thriving as a local gem. We had our first date at this restaurant, and decided to come back one year later. We cancelled our reservation as we had a bummer Sunday, but last minute, decided to head on over for wine and a toast. Our same table was the only one open!Henry was our server and really turned our night around. Our Hostess was also very warm. We had Ahi Tuna appetizer and a Charcuterie Board, along with red wine and sake. He added some special touches to make us feel special. We did. Thanks, Wife and the Somm.

The space is a hidden gem and it is very cute and comfortable for a date. I went here for an event where we had a three course meal which includes a pairing wine for every course. It was nice to have tried so many different dishes. I was very impressed with every dish and it was a nice conversation starter as we tried each dish and wine. The staff here was very friendly and accommodating. I captioned all the photos in case you were wondering what each dish were

Went on a Saturday night with prior reservation. We sat at the bar. The place was cute and cozy and the music was not too loud which made it easy to communicate. We ordered the 5 item charcuterie board, chicory salad and mussels. Everything tasted good especially the bread and olive oil. The female bartender at the bar was good but it seemed like she was trying to rush everything. Other than that we had a great time.

Not a place I would have found without truly looking. Known for thier fine wines and charcuterie we went for tapas as we already started that earlier. The table split, the delicious Wagu Steak, July pork chops, poached pear salad ad the sautéed mushrooms and a side of potatos. for dessert we had a delicious chocolate cake home made on premises. the service was amazing only could have brought some more water. We sat outdoors where it was quite and gorgeous settings with the ambiance for a romantic meal.

Went here for brunch with my parents and sat in the little outdoor area. Service was wonderful and my parents really enjoyed the food. The French toast was absolutely delicious and a must try if you are looking for something sweet and you can't go wrong with steak and eggs.

In A Nutshell:-The Wife and the Somm was a nice restaurant experience.-I've never been in this part of L.A. before, but it was really cool to be able to check it out over some really good sake, food & service.-I thoroughly enjoyed the creative 4-course sake pairing that started off w/ an Amuse Bouche of Baja Babe oyster w/ blackberry plum, Ikura & tarragon flower.-The four courses ranged from tasty King Trumpet Yaki Kinoko, Maple Miso Glazed Delicata Squash, Dungeness Crab Cake & Duck Leg Carnitas Raviolo.-It was an amazing culinary journey mixing a variety of imported Japanese sake w/ highly regarded L.A. culinary kitchen skills.Overall, I really liked the layout of this restaurant & the staff were always providing exceptional service. I love newcomer businesses in outlying neighborhoods. That's how I came upon Little Beast and Hippo. In a quiet and non descript neighborhood in Glassell Park, the Wife welcomes you into her serene and warming interiors. Upon walking in you feel like you've arrived at a private dinner party held for you. The menu is not extensive but covers many tastes. The wife has a global extensive wine list-- check it out online. It's not a full bar. Did I say an extensive wine list? Must be because the other half is a Somm. ;) Everything we had was delicious. The Spanish octopus was authentic. The pork belly roasted to a crunch in the outer layer and juicy inside was scrummy tasty. The PEI mussels were fresh, the cream a bit rich, held true to its Norman preparation. The Basque cheesecake with flavors of honey and a bit of citrus was excellent with the pineau we selected. I love this newcomer. Definitely coming back. End of Yelp!

We went for Dine LA and were so pleasantly surprised by the food, wine and service. We were greeted with a big smile from our waiter Miguel who was warm and attentive. Each different course was paired with an amazing wine - the scallops crudo, pork belly and halibut were perfectly prepared and so it was truly an experience. We met the owner who was so gracious, real and welcoming- and we enjoyed an additional piece of carrot cake and cheese cake (baked by the wife ;)We are New Yorkers transplanted to LA and are always comparing restaurants to our NY experience and this restaurant resonated with us!! We are definitely coming back. Thanks Wife and Somm for a wonderful evening- it was a nice break from dealing with displacement from the Altadena fire.
