Weaf is so delicious. It is South African food and reminds me a lot of Ethiopian food, which I love. The place is just too cute. It is not large and it can get crowded. I think you can make a reservation and I would do that if I were you. We jut pop in when we are near Melrose. The place is super clean with a little indoor seating and nice outdoor seating. They also have pick up and delivery. But eat there. The staff is just so very nice. They don't have a huge menu, just a great one. Their grilled chicken is our favorite and we always get that along with other items for dinner. Their Jollof meal with tomato & spicy rice from Ghana & Nigeria with Chicken or Fish is too spicy for me, but my husband loves it and he loves the fish. They also have Thieb rice which is a must try. It is a traditional Senegales rice. You also might enjoy their Jollof rice which is traditional Ghaneans and Nigerian rice. Add grilled chicken to any rice item and you will have a great meal. The prices are fair. Order at the Counter. Have fun.

Weaf Restaurant came to the rescue during a culinary emergency! For our book club meeting, we needed authentic African cuisine to complement our discussion on African literature--and let me tell you, they didn't just deliver; they *exceeded expectations*. The food arrived promptly, and every dish was a masterpiece. The egusi soup was rich and flavorful, the jollof rice was perfectly spiced, and the chicken was tender and downright decadent. I was beyond impressed--it's rare to find a spot that not only meets but goes *above and beyond*. Weaf is now my go-to for African food!

The guy who prepared the food was very friendly and we had some freshly fried plantains. It came with a small side of spicy sauce. So yummy! Then I tried the jollof rice and chicken. It was all incredibly, intensely flavorful. This isn't bland stuff! The sauce had a nice low-level heat that kept your belly warm while eating. I want to have a bottle of this sauce at home and put it on everything!I have never tried West African dishes before so I have no set idea of what it's supposed to taste like. But I did like everything I ate. Portions are decent but priced a little high. However, most places are getting pricey due to inflation so you can only do so much about it.

I stumbled on this spot while driving down from a meeting on Melrose. Absolutely unbelievable. I heard so much about Jollof but I needed to taste it to get it. The seasoning on the rice and chicken is next level and the plantains are fire too. This may have been my favorite meal of the year

Extremely disappointed in this resturant. As a fellow African/ Ghanaian, I was extremely excited to see an african resturant near me. I ordered the jallof rice with chicken. The food came out within 5mins( big red flag). The rice tasted nothing like jallof rice. Instead tasted like traders joes version from a few years back. The price of the meal was expensive, and didn't match the price. Usually I try to promote african food/ restaurants, but was extremely disappointed with the food here.Would not recommend eating from this place.

The best food that I've ever had in my life is from a Senegalese restaurant in Chicago. I've been searching for something similar here in LA and I am sooo glad WEAF came across my FYP. I came at 7pm on a Monday night with my family and we were met with amazing service. I ordered the Thieb chicken plate and it was delicious! My daughter who is a picky eater ate all of hers and wanted mine too. The plantains and the pastels were really good too. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying the other menu items.

I am so proud of the young chef and visionary team who saw fit for an African restaurant on Melrose!!!! Food was delightful and very much influenced by (Senegal The Gambia Guinea Ivory Coast a bit of Liberia n Sierra Leone) it is refreshing and welcoming. Had a great time and plan to bring my Shito to enjoy with the fried yam next time cuz the softness and savory crunch took me back home (Ghana).

The meal I got today was extremely bland and the quarter chicken was significantly smaller than when I originally ate this meal. When I got it before there was a Hispanic cook who I think did a better job at cooking the chicken and even rice than what I received today. I'm disappointed that not only the food lacked any taste but also the chicken was maybe half the size it was originally when I had this meal on two other occasions. I really hope things improve and become more consistent in flavor and quantity as I've been looking for a place to enjoy African food in LA.
