Water Grill - Los Angeles

Had dinner at Water Grill for the first time in years - I've always enjoyed dining at Water Grill but it has been quite awhile since my last visit. I'm glad to see that the quality of the food and customer service is still exceptional and top notch. The space is cozy, with convenient parking options close by. A few favorite items of our table included the chorizo & clams, calamari, and shrimp scampi. I wanted to give a special shoutout to Flavio, who provided exceptional customer service. We were celebrating two birthday dinners and Flavio was very attentive and anticipated our table's needs before we even had to ask him. His attention to detail went miles and made our dining experience a fantastic one. If you're looking for a great seafood experience in Downtown LA, this is your place. We'll be back again soon!

Ambiance was pleasantGood service Came here for cocktails and appetizers. The margarita verde we had was good but the calamari was soggy and we did not finish it. Decent experience but wouldn't come back

On a regular basis, Water Grill continues to be a popular casual dining yet high-end dining experience. For many years now Water Grill has been a goto place for seafood fine dining, and also a choice for celebrating New Years Eve.I am torn now in my opinion of such a long-time favorite. Recalling hits and misses for this year's 2024 NYE dinner had more misses than hits.First of all, the seafood food is excellent. Fresh and prepared excellently. This has been consistent.The misses included the bar and the wait staff, or maybe it was only my table that received the poor service.A $19 Martini and a $19 Old Fashion is exorbitant even for whatever inflationary forces we are all seeing today. The drinks were just okay and nowhere near the excellence I have experienced before.The seafood is excellent, and I can rave endlessly about the consistency. Unfortunately, the upgraded aged NY Strip Steak was atrociously laden with gristle and had the thickness you get from Sizzler. To add insult to injury it was sent back twice to get re-fired because the kitchen just couldn't get Medium-Rare done correctly. I gave up sending it back when it was returned and the server stood there making sure I cut into it to confirm my satisfaction. The middle was near blue and I didn't want to further spoil a special occasion over the remaining part of my steak that had two chances to get re-fired.I am a patron regularly at three of their locations, but I really need to evaluate whether they should be a viable choice for NYE.

Soon as you step in you will be amazed at this place. Beautifully lit and there are more tables than you can imagine but its not a noisy place. My friends and I had an early Christmas dinner and since we are new customers we shared our food to one another so when we come in again next time we know what to order .... the same food and more choices! Their food is delicious and very tasty. The steak is really good and the Chilean Bass is a must to order. Staff are quick to assists and always smiling! I am glad my friend suggested this restaurant, I highly recommend this place ... this is around DowntownLA it is ideal to go after work! 10+ !

The service was good and it's a nice atmosphere. Quality of seafood was good, but the overall flavor was not there. The brussels sprouts were a little too soft. The lobster roll had no flavor which is crazy cause it was tossed in butter but like no salt, pepper. the fish and chips which are not pictured were not flavored. Well either I would consider going back and trying something else maybe a catch of the day or something like that.

I work in the same building, so that's how I known about the water grill, but it's still amazes me as to just how much of a destination trip. The WG is for people seemingly nightly because they always have a very strong crowd..A slightly upscale- casual environment and ambience,, they have a nice bar to just pop-in for a drink or two with colleagues at the end of the day and of course they have a strong seafood offering on their menu. Everything we've had is quite tasty and always served very professionally by a very polite and attentive staff.

We dined her prior to a show at Biltmore next door. The service was fanatic and the food was fresh and delicious. We order sushi and some oysters Rockefeller and it did not disappoint!

Hi My Yelpers, We had an unforgettable meal at Water Grill in Los Angeles! The food was absolutely amazing, both in presentation and flavor. We started with the stunning seafood tower, which was a work of art--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully arranged. The scallops, lobster, and clams were all incredibly fresh, and each bite was a delight.For my main course, I ordered the filet, which was cooked to perfection and paired with a vibrant chimichurri sauce that really brought out the flavors. The sides, like the creamy mashed potatoes and the fresh salad, were equally impressive and complemented the meal perfectly.The ambiance was upscale yet relaxed, perfect for a special night out with friends or business contacts. The host staff were so accommodating, and the service throughout the evening was impeccable. Plus, being just a short walk from our hotel made it all the more convenient.I highly recommend Water Grill for anyone seeking an elevated dining experience with fresh seafood and top-notch service. We had such a fun and memorable time, and I can't wait to return!

Food: The negatives were that the sea bass was slightly overcooked and the Brussel sprouts were not properly roasted as compared to others I've had (my baseline is california fish grill's roasted brussel sprouts). Also the chestnuts didn't really work with the Brussel sprouts as the hazelnuts did not work with the sea bass. I do enjoy that the chefs take into account the seasonal ingredients and try to incorporate it into their menu. I was told the gnocchi that paired with the sea bass was extremely delicious and is it unfortunate that this component was changed when I came to try the dish myself. The fish and chips were exceptional, extremely airy and crispy beer batter without too much bitterness from the beer and the fish flaky to perfection. The fries were decent, some pieces more crispy than others. The maple cheesecake I think beautifully incorporated the flavors of fall and the slight tartness of the sourcream ice cream really lifts the heaviness of the cheesecake. But the crust was only the more rubbery side. The complimentary Sourdough dinner rolls were fresh, chewy, and delectable.Service: Our waitress seemed a little less than enthusiastic in our time together, but when bringing up the issue of the sea bass being overcooked (usually fork tender), she was quick to make it up to us by offering something else. We are thankful for her and her actions have changed my mind about the service from my initial impression.Ambiance: bougie, clean. Overall at the price point of $$$ for this meal, definitely expected more from the food.
