Uoichiba Handroll Bar is beyond fantastic. Located in such a gorgeous Food Hall in Downtown Culver City, Citizen Public Market. Their hand rolls are elevated and even when taken to-go the food is still spectacular. The concept from the Dry Aged Fish Guy known to be renowned for his Dry Aging technique at Joint Seafood is out of this world. Each bento box is made to-go with sushi-grade rice, chopped up pieces of various types of fish (changes daily), and nori to top each hand roll off. This concept is crate for build your own hand rolls at home, or to come in and have them do it for you. Honestly, the best hand rolls and sushi to ever eat and such a refined fish. Go support and try them out to see what the talk is all about!

Service was great and food came out so fast! Pretty decent amount of food for the price (I got the small box which was $25). When you take it to go, you have to wrap your own handrolls but honestly it's pretty straightforward and they gave soooo much fish! Will definitely be back again. If I were by myself the mini box would be more than enough food!

Omg awful. Not even close to a contender for KazuNori. I spent $50 on small handroll set and sake. The prawn was super rubbery and I regret spending my money. Go somewhere else for sushi!

Went here for a quick dinner on a Saturday night after long drive to LA. Looked for options in the citizen public market and agreed on getting some sushi. They offer handrolls and bring it one by one. I went for the medium size (5 rolls) and my wife ordered the small size. (3 rolls). They prepare the rolls one by one so you can eat at your own pace and they always taste very fresh. Would say the medium size is more than enough even if you're hungry. I liked all the options (tuna, fatty tuna, salmon, white fish and shrimp). My favorite was the fatty tuna though. Together with a Japanese beer it was a great meal. Staff were super friendly, they have a lot of bar seating and two tables. Definitely worth a try.

Having tried both the Take out as well as Sit down menu, my best advice is this: sit down and get hand rolls! The take out is essentially fish and rice and sushi, so you can wrap it yourself, but you miss out on all the interesting toppings they add when eating there in person! They put roe, shiso leaf, rice cracker, which elevates the handrolls beyond the norm. Definitely go during Sunday dinner when they have happy hour (HH) before they take it away! Half off the $33 Extra Medium menu...totally worth! If you have the Amex Platinum card, get the Inkind membership ($100 credit thru platinum) and collect your discounts here.

Delicious handrolls in Citizens Public Market! This spot is located past Goodboybob Coffee and Bang Bang Noodles. You can sit at the counter or order your handrolls to go. I opted for the former, especially since the market can get crowded and noisy; there aren't always seats available in the common areas. The menu has different combos of handrolls -- Mini, Small, Medium, and Extra Medium. I got the Small, which had three rolls and they let me substitute shellfish with yellowtail (since I'm allergic), which was really nice! The handrolls come out one by one as they're made to order and they were very tasty (and much more filling than they look!). I was glad I got the Small by the end, because I was full.Definitely worth a visit if you're in the Culver City area!

First time trying this place, and we each ordered the Xtra Medium (6) hand roll set. This got us lean and fatty tuna, white fish, steelhead, prawn, and the special, which was blue crab. I asked for less rice and managed to finish all six generously portioned hand rolls without overeating! The fish was super flavorful and plump and had a great texture. I also ordered the fish stock miso soup, and it was so aromatic and delicious! Service was delightfully personable, considering this is a counter in a bustling food court. Our hand roll artist(?) took the time to chat about the ingredients and had great recommendations. I love eating at places where the staff take pride in their work and food, so that was the cherry on top for our dining experience here!

I had a phenomenal lunch at Uoichiba last Friday. I went with my friend Ivy P. after she raved about the place, and I'm already eager to go again. Honestly, I'd be happy to eat here once a week for the rest of my life.My only complaint is that parking kind of sucked, but I did eventually find a spot in the public structure adjoining the Trader Joe's. If you're parking there, just know that the first floor is all 45-minute spots, and if you don't head up to the upper levels right away, you might get spat back out onto the street.Uoichiba is in the Citizen Public Market, a cool upscale food hall that is, of course, privately owned. It's a casual temaki and chirashi joint with counter seats and a couple of tables. We nabbed one of the tables and went for the "xtra medium" hand roll tasting--the largest of the four sets, with a total of six rolls for $32 before tax and tip. Service was friendly, and I enjoyed the very low-key tasting menu format. The rolls came out one at a time, which felt fun and ceremonious, but I had to cross the market to get my own tiny cup of water. The food was exceptional. We shared the butter furikake edamame, and that worked well as both an appetizer and a snack to munch on between rolls. The xtra medium temaki tasting came with lean tuna, fatty tuna, steelhead salmon, kampachi, prawn, and the "slammin' salmon" daily special. Every roll was fantastic. Uoichiba dry ages its fish, and the results are notably delicious. I particularly loved the lush, flavorful salmon and and the silky kampachi, enhanced with a hit of yuzu. The prawn was sweet, served with crunchy tobiko and really good alfalfa sprouts. The daily special (which only comes with the xtra medium set) was indeed slammin', a bold, delightful roll with grilled salmon, blue crab, pickled carrot, and eel sauce. This was a wonderful lunch with outstanding sushi at a reasonable price point. I can't wait to go back to Uoichiba and eat every roll on the menu all over again.
