We visited Trattoria del Sole for Valentine's Day, and it was bustling with energy! Despite not having a reservation, we managed to snag a cozy table outside. It was a bit chilly, but the space heaters made it feel just right. We started with the calamari, which was delightfully crispy. The chicken parmigiana was firm but not overcooked, paired with penne that tasted freshly made. The spaghetti alla checca was a simple yet flavorful dish with tomatoes and basil--no frills needed. And the tiramisu? Absolutely divine, as always. On our previous visit, we were a bit let down by the bread, but this time it was perfectly browned on the outside and soft as a cloud on the inside. I love dipping the bread into the various sauces from our dishes--pure bliss!Trattoria del Sole is one of my family's go-to spots in the area, and this visit reminded us why. We'll definitely be back for more delicious meals and great times!

I became a big fan of the pasta and most definitely the pizza, the menu selection felt full of tasty variety. The service was timely and very welcoming, and I loved the cozy interior of the restaurant. One of my favorite Italian places in the Valley.

The food was alright. I did not think it was particularly special. I did not like that they included the fish head on one of the mains. It made me queasy. But what was really off-putting and will make me never return are these two things:Minor: The waiters congregrated near our table to chit chat as they were observing the other tables. Like rightnexttoourtable. It was hard to converse with them right there. They could have stood in a far less conspicuous place. Major: the waiter bringing our plates had his dirty fingers on my plate. I say dirty because his fingernails were dirty and as he was dropping off the plates, his fingers were wrapped on the TOP of the plate. Gross..I had to mention it to him which is equally embarrassing. Nope.

Love love their dishes:Pizza was light and great: I had the pizza Blanca without sauce and with Aragula and prosciutto The pasta dish I selected was the linguini with cracked pepper and white sauce: it was really good but the prosciutto was a bit too salty to my taste!

TRATTORIA DEL SOLImagine a neighborhood restaurant that serves traditional pizza as well as fine-dining Italian cuisine. Located in Sherman Oaks on Ventura Boulevard, people drive from all areas of Los Angeles to enjoy the authentic food and moderate prices in this casual trattoria. The staff aims to please, multi-tasking as greeters, waiters, and cocktail makers. What makes this restaurant a gem is daily special creations by Chef Manny who will drop by your table to say hello and make recommendations. One unique entree is the Penne al Saffron tossed with sausage and broccoli in a golden cream sauce.Starters include the Pasta e Fagioli and Zucca soup along with a special of the day, usually a silky zuppa, like the pureed green bean and potato soup, a smooth and velvety pallet pleaser. If pasta is your comfort food, this is the ristorante that will satisfy your cravings. The classic Pappardelle Bolognese sprinkled with parmigiano cheese is tossed in a hearty meat sauce that makes you want to continuously twirl your fork around a spoon for the pleasure of another bite. A meatless delectable option is the spicy Penne Arrabiata topped with fresh parsley. For fish lovers, crispy-skinned whole branzino, salmone grigliata, and bread-sopping cioppino make you dream about seaports on the Amalfi coast. A noteworthy, exotic antipasta salad is the Polipo topped with grilled octopus, arugala, red onions, and cherry tomatoes drizzled with a light lemon dressing. This dish followed by a crusty Margherita pizza layered with tomato sauce, mozzarella, and fresh basil will satisfy your appetite along with a glass of Volpaia, Chianti Classico.Other secondi main course options are Pollo Milanese, Melanzane di Parmigiana, Ossobucco, and grilled Fillet Mignon with roasted potatoes and grilled tomatoes. Save room for the home-made Tiramisu layered with espresso soaked sponge cake, whipped cream and rich mascarpone, topped with cocoa powder and bittersweet chocolate shavings.Vegan and gluten free options. Front patio outdoor seating available.14230 Ventura Blvd., 818-501-0017. menu: trattoriadelsol.us

I was looking for an Italian restaurant for my husband to break his Matzah diet. I found this little gem. Great food and great service. They started us with great bread - so good that I had to ask for some to go. The Arugula salad with Lemon dressing was amazing. I had the Linguini Vongole and my husband had a Romana Pizza with pepperoni. It's not a huge restaurant but we liked the ambiance and the fact that they did not have music blasting was a plus indeed. Will definitely be back for Mother's Day.

Date: 2/2/24Was looking for a last minute dinner spot that was family friendly and ended up finding this spot. Some reviews said it was family friendly so decided to try it out. It's a fairly romantic type place, however, i feel it is somewhat family friendly. They have an outdoor patio seating area so we opted for that just in case the kids got antsy since it was already 8pm. Our server was super sweet and very attentive. She took care of us from beginning til end. Beginning when I arrived first with my two babies and then at the end when my husband arrived. We ordered:1. Margherita Pizza (20$) - Wasn't bad however nothing special for the price. The toppings were still "hard" as in nothing was really melted together. 2. Pollo Piccata (29$) - This one was really good. Love the lemon butter and the veggies on the side however on the pric-er side for this dish. Wish the veggies were also a little softer. 3. Spaghetti Meatballs (22$) - The meatballs were huge however it was literally ALL BEEF so it was super dry and hard to eat. The sauce overall was really good though! Hubs gave this one a big thumbs up!4. Parpadelle (24$) - Wish there was more cheese but overall amazing dish! Overall we had an amazing dinner experience. Thank you so much for letting our little munchikins enjoy the experience with us.

Just went back today for lunch to make sure this place wasn't a fluke and it was just as good as my first time. I think we like it so much I will just keep coming back on a regular basis. Quality seafood, great sauce, amazing fresh baked rolls that they start you off with, and a friendly waitress with a genuine smile. I'm glad to see there is at least one other happy person left on this planet. This place isn't too big, very cozy, and has a friendly vibe. Looks like they have a good bar as well if you like a drink. Enjoy!
