If you're a japanese grill chicken skewer person! this is a must visitPlan ahead as there tends to be a line and some of the chicken parts and skewers could sell out!Thats how good it is! Surprisingly there isn't too many options for this type of grilled bbq in los angeles. Its pretty legit and authentic tooWe got to try a new shochu and even won a bottle in the raffle, so lucky! The side dishes are great too, small ricebowls are available if the chicken sticks don't fill you up!Alot of people tend to really sit and take their time, they need to start doing the time limit thing maybe? We even had time to visit marukai downstairs to do some shopping ( sake tasting )Employee service is obviously great and the food never failsI like how you have the option for sauce or salt toonice to switch it up

Best yakitori in all of Southern California by far. If you're looking for perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned yakitori with unique flavors and just overall balance, this is definitely the spot for you. I've been coming to Torigoya for around 8 years now and it has to be my favorite restaurant here in LA. I sometimes get a beer and pour a glass for the chef and honestly it's one of the funnest experiences as he comes and just chats with you while the food is cooking. It's table bar seating (there are some tables around too) but that's what makes the experience so fun. Staff is extremely kind and the restaurant is an experience overall. You don't just sit down and leave, you sit down, talk to the chef, pour him a beer, he pours you some and you just have a great time. Best Japanese restaurant in all of LA, check this place out!

Torigoya is amazing. Every single skewer I've ordered makes me wow in how good it tastes. I love the authenticity of the food and the atmosphere! They sometimes have a wait but it is so worth it. I got seated at the bar the first time I've been here and a regular table the second. Staff here is extremely attentive and kind, no matter where I'm seated! They also usually bring skewers to you one at a time so you can take your time enjoying each one! It also ensures you're getting your food straight from off the grill which is amazing. I'm always satisfied with the food and service here. I love chicken heart and the special chicken heart skewers here are soooo good. Would definitely recommend trying it out!Locals and regulars here are also fun to talk to! Atmosphere is great too (: Will definitely be back soon!

Hubby & I were invited by his friend & gf to join them here for dinner tonight. It was our first time here for hubby & I & we enjoyed every bite of their food. Service was slow as they brought 1 skewer at a time but it was worth the wait. Their yakitori (chicken skin, soft thigh, soft bone, meatball, shiitake mushroom, & eggplant) were was the best I've had compared to other places I've been to. It's authentic, tender, & full of flavor. We also had spicy garlic shishito, Agedashi tofu, octopus in wasabi, seaweed salad, & Soboro bowl which is ground chicken rice bowl with quail egg, green onion, & sesame. The Agedashi tofu was served warm & cooked nicely. The octopus in wasabi was fresh & had the right amount of wasabi kick to it. The ground chicken in the Soboro bowl was soft & tasty. As for drinks, we had matcha beer, & shared a bottle of cold sake. The matcha beer was surprisingly GooD! Sake was smooth & paired well with everything. I look forward to coming back to try their other skewers & dishes on their menu.

Authentic Japanese izakaya experience if you sit at the counter! We bought a shochu for the chef grilling all the skewers; good vibes all around. I came around 8:30pm on a Tuesday night and there was no wait and plenty of seats available at the counter. Ordered some skewers, chicken nanban, takowasa, agedashi tofu, and asahi beers. The restaurant is located in the plaza shared by kinokuniya and marukai! There is a parking structure where you can get validated parking at marukai if you purchase an item.

Tried a variety of items from their miso cucumber, Tako wasa, shishito peppers, marinated deep fried chicken, chicken ramen, and their 10 course skewer set + various a la carte skewers. Some of the best tasting chicken I've had in a long time. Fresh and grilled perfectly. Simple and authentic, true to Japanese taste. Many things excellent, some things adventurous and good to try once. Enjoyed a Dassai 45 to wash it all down. $60 a person for a party of 4 post tax. A good experience but LONG wait bc you're intended to keep snacking and drinking with this type of food. Try to come early or get some stuff from marukai market to hold you down.Service was ok - had to ask for water 3x lol, but they were nice. 4.5 stars

the heart is all a must try. Soboro bowl was good albeit a bit sweet? Chicken nanban was perfect. No notes except that I want more tartar sauce bc it was delicious. Service was amazing even though it was busy. Smokey, cozy, and wine bottles all around. Definitely a hidden treasure in little Tokyo.

This is a yakitori (yaki = grill, tori = chicken) place, meaning they ONLY serve grilled chicken parts and very few veggie skewers so you won't find any beef, pork, or seafood here It gets really packed quickly on the weekends so I would suggest making a reservation or you will be waiting outside for quite some timeThey are located inside the Weller Court Shopping Center with several other restaurants, anime stores, and a small Japanese marketI paid $12 for parking even with validation so I recommend parking at the parking structure next to this building which is cheaper or finding street parking

Torigoya is legit! We waited almost 45 minutes when there there only 3 parties ahead of us and once we finally got in, it was worth the wait. If you get the chance, sit on the counter. We were able to see all the action, sounds and smells that lends to their authenticity. We walked in and it brought me back to the last time we visited Japan. The restaurant was surrounded in wood. It looks like something you would find in a smaller city, like Fukuaoka.Don't be shocked by the prices as everyone's prices are going up. But you have to look at the intrinsic value of the whole experience. We ordered a lot of different items from the menu and not one disappointed. Although you may shake your head at two pieces of grilled eggplant for almost $4, I hope you didn't just order that. Their karaage is probably one of the best I've had in a long time. The chicken was marinated perfectly and the coating was lite and crunchy. They ran out of chicken skin skewers so we opted for the chicken skin appetizer with vinegar and it took us by surprise. The raw, white onions under the chicken did not have a strong flavor that overpowered the chicken. One by one the chef brought over the skewers and each of them had their own distinct flavor and texture. Chicken hearts, thighs, wings, meatballs...they were all delicious. If you are planning to bring a group, I would recommend reservations as it is small and the style of service and cooking isn't a quick dining experience. So take your time, soak it up because this is as close to eating in Japan as you can get.Cleanliness 9/10Bathrooms 8/10Ambiance 10/10Service 10/10Food 10/10Value 9/10Will I Return? Yes!

100 ways to serve chicken but it's still chicken. To be fair the items have authentic Japanese flavors. As you step into this unassuming gem, you'll find yourself transported to the bustling streets of Tokyo.Get the chicken meatballs, soft chicken thighs skip the chicken breast kinda bland. Yakitori everything: Torigoya lives up to its reputation as a premier yakitori (grilled chicken skewer) spot. The aroma of charcoal-grilled chicken fills the air, promising a delicious dinner. Service was ok hence the 3 stars.
