A review mentioned that this was a hidden gem so we were super excited to try. Gem? Yes! Hidden? Definitely not. The interior outside looks very regular, but the interior is stunning. I was getting mad because the pictures I took of the ceiling could not capture how cool it looked in person! They also have an upstairs balcony-type thing for reserved parties which is nice. You kinda have to wait around until a table opens up, and this place was so packed that it did take a while. We still waited a bit after being seated at the bar. Bartenders had a lot on their plate, but were working quickly to get through them! The bartender that helped us (didn't get his name, but he had long grey hair) was amazing!! We asked if he could do custom drinks and he was very happy to accommodate. Here's what we got/what we thought: My cocktail (pink) (5/5): Pictured on the right, my cocktail consisted of pomegranate juice, pineapple juice, and other things that I don't really remember. The drink was SO refreshing, and having a bit of that basil just took it over the top. Cucumber lime "East Side" (5/5!): This was my boyfriend's, and it was also incredible! The bartender was even kind enough to grab a fresh cucumber for us. I never like drinks with cucumber and lime, but I kept asking if I could have sips of this one. Overall, such a great experience! My boyfriend and I both agreed that this was the highlight of our trip. If you don't mind the prices and wait time, I'm sure the service and drinks will make your night.

Cocktails with a bit of history mixed in? I'm sold! Located in Downtown LA's historic (and possibly haunted) Alexandria Hotel's building, The Wolves is a unique establishment that features authentic period pieces from the early 20th century, lending itself to an intriguing yet approachable ambiance that you'll truly be impressed by. The cocktail menu is thoughtfully presented and put together, gathering inspiration from culinary dishes and unexpected flavor combinations. While I may not be as bold enough to order their Agua Buena cocktail, which features shrimp, cucumber and garlic, I was more than happy with the sweet and fruity Harbinger of Fun and Mary Pickford cocktails instead. Our server was friendly and attentive and came to our table to check on us multiple times. We came a bit earlier than the busy nighttime rush so we were seated right away but I can see how his place can fill up on busy weekend evenings.

After waiting so long to get to this place, everything about it--besides the beautiful interior--was such a disappointment. The main server when my friend and I got there, Ashley, was incredibly rude. We sat down at one of the tables and she came within 3 minutes to tell us to move because the table was "typically reserved". Ooookay....didn't see a plaque or anything, but we did move for her. Now that we were at another table, my friend was able to order a drink and I got some bread and water. It took a good 15 minutes for both to arrive, and by the time that it did I tried ordering a drink myself. It seemed like our waitress was more interested in collecting the menu than in getting my order, because I had to stop her from leaving in order to finish. It took another 15 to get my drink at this point and we still hadn't received the water I had previously ordered. Again, it seemed Ashley was avoiding us--my friend was watching as she attended all the other tables but deliberately avoided us. At one point, she was standing at the podium in the back and staring out into the main hall and my friend and her were literally making eye contact, but she didn't move.We finally got our water when another server came to ask us, for the first time mind you, if everything was going well. My friend and I were so frustrated at this point that once we'd finished our $18 cocktails, we asked for the bill. We were so disappointed and agreed that had our server been even a little bit more agreeable, we wouldn't have rushed out, but as it was we didn't feel comfortable spending any more time or money there.

Nestled in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, this bar feels like stepping through a time machine into the roaring 1920s. The dark, stained wood interiors exude a rich warmth that instantly transports you to a bygone era, where craftsmanship and attention to detail reigned supreme. Ornate wood moldings line the walls and ceilings, showcasing a timeless artistry that feels authentically vintage. The curved stained glass ceiling windows are nothing short of stunning, casting a soft, colorful glow across the room as the evening light fades. The ambiance is intimate and moody, the kind of place where secrets feel safe and every drink tastes like it's been poured with purpose.Whether you're a fan of history, craftsmanship, or just a good old-fashioned drink, this spot is a hidden gem that truly captures the spirit of an old-school New York speakeasy but in DTLA. Highly recommend for anyone looking to escape the modern hustle and indulge in a moment of timeless charm

What a gem of a place this is! The interior is soooo beautiful and elegant. I highly suggest stopping in for a drink - it's definitely nice enough for a date. There's a smokey cocktail that has an impressive presentation which was delicious. I don't think you can go wrong here, they have a legit cocktail menu and the food looked delicious but I wasn't hungry. The bartender was sweet and gave some good recommendations. I walked by this place so many times and never really noticed it. If it wasn't for my friend taking me there, I would have never known such a cute place existed.

This rating is specifically for the cocktails as I didn't order any food on this visit. The interior was absolutely stunning with stained glass windows and low light that accentuated the gold ceiling panels. It had a sophisticated speakasy feel to it.However I wasn't a huge fan of how insanely alcoholic they tasted. I ordered the Amsterdam and felt like I got punched in the face with every sip. It was very busy and took a while to get our drinks. The curved staircase to get upstairs was aesthetically pleasing, but difficult to navigate with a drink in your hand. The balcony was noisy as it faces a busy street.

This was a very cool vibe for a bar. We came in a Friday night and we were seated right away. Service wasn't the friendliest but food and drinks came out fast. The poutine was good but not the best I've ever had. My friends really enjoyed the burger.

This place is such a gem! Came here on a late Sunday night after picking up a friend that was in town and we loved everything about this place. The staff and bartenders were very friendly! The architecture of the building was unique and beautiful! Prices of the drinks and food notes were affordable and good. I'd definitely come back again! Of course it's downtown so parking can be hit or miss especially if there are events near by but we got lucky that it was a quiet Sunday evening and found street parking easily!

This place has an amazing vintage bar vibe with super unique and creative drinks. They feature rotating farmers market cocktails--this month's special is a strawberry rhubarb highball with a tequila twist. I tried the "Let Them Talk," which came with an adorable mushroom topper and had a refreshing celery flavor. The service was fantastic--loved the bartender, who was super sweet and welcoming. I'd definitely come back to try the small plates and explore the cozy bar lounge in the back. Such a cool spot!
