I wish I remembered to take a picture but I CLEANED MY PLATE just now I had the blackened catfish with collard greens and my bf had the blackened snapper with the same side. Both came with very delicious cornbread. The men working the counter and grill gave great service.Great experience!!!

Was at the Grove to grab lunch and was craving some Gumbo. Opted for the Gumbo Ya Ya. A "spicy" chicken gumbo with shrimp and Andouille sausage. This includes cornbread and a salad with toasted pecan dressing. The gumbo? Was pretty flavorless for gumbo and I did not find it spicy (and I'm pretty sensitive to spiciness). I have a feeling that it was much better in years past. Cornbread and salad were fine, but not good enough for me to come back for.

Ordered a blackened chicken salad for my father. Unfortunately it was not edible. The chicken was cold, dry and chewy. That chicken had to be sitting somewhere for a few days. The lettuce was browning. The salad came with one cherry tomato and light dressing. Also ordered the shrimp etouffe. It was okay but wouldn't order again. Felt like I was eating spicy caramelized onions over rice.

Stumbled upon this spot to eat to take a break from shopping. The staff is very friendly and offered up suggestions for our first time eating here. We went with what he suggested and ordered the catfish plate with greens and red beans and rice. The catfish was good, they just need to change the oil - you can tell by how it cooked. The flavor was there though. The red beans and rice were pretty good and I liked how the greens were vegetarian. I also tasted some of the gumbo and it was just ok. I've definitely had better creole style food, but it was a decent spot. A plus, it's black owned, so was happy to support.

Ordered a bunch Gator and greens-yum Cornbread good taste, but kinda dry Meat pies.. not at all authentic. The shell was more like a tortilla than the pastry dough Gumbo/jambaylaya - lacked flavor. Too much tomato and not enough spice. Also the sausage was hard

Service: Friendly and fastFood: mixed platter came with fried oysters, shrimp and catfish. The cornmeal batter was surprisingly light! The collard greens were tasty. The portion was good and definitely large enough to share. Ambiance: Shared open seating in market's farmer with plenty of shade.

I got the gumbo with greens and cornbread and my daughter got the jambalaya with mashed potatoes. All of it tasted so bad!! We were sitting in one of the tables up front so we tried to eat the food but it was honestly so bad it made me gag. I was so embarrassed I wanted to run away we left the plates full.
