food?* dry pot, medium spicy (5/5): actually best malatang I've ever had. I used to not like malatang, but this place changed my mind. the spice does not overpower the flavor, and I can actually taste the quality of the sauce. ingredients are fresh and always available!vibes?seating is kind of tight, but still can hold several groups. located in a plaza with valet.come back?I have, and always will!

My friends have talked about how good this place was and I finally went with them to try for myself... they definitely were telling NO LIES!! This place is so tasty. Parking is valet or if you can find street parking around. The restaurant itself is pretty tiny and there are 2 locations that are 2 stores away from each other. The one that's open during lunch is the one closes to Haru Cake and the one that's open during dinner is the one closest to Boba Time. The first time I went, I was so confused thinking it was closed but I just needed to walk a little bit more into the plaza. The place itself is pretty small so I wouldn't recommend huge crowds unless you go during an off time, and to not expect to be seated next to each other. You go in, you pick up a large bowl and tongs, and then you just start adding the food you want into the bowl - there's a variety of veggies, noodles, meats, mushrooms, etc. that you can add. Just know that it is a MINIMUM OF 1 POUND. So if you're under, they will ask you to add more. It's about $17.95/lb. Once added and weighed, they'll ask if you want dry pot or soup and spice level. Dry pot is more mala and if you get the broth, it's delicious, sort of nutty. I got the dry pot (so good) but I tried my friend's broth and it was really good. Would definitely get it next time I come back!Drinks are self serve and you pay for your items at the end. This place is so good and service is quick. Would definitely recommend.

I'm a massive fan of malatang but it's so hard to find in LA. Decided to check out this place considering there's only like three places in LA.Restaurant interior is a little bit small with seating for about ~20 people. The selection for malatang is unfortunately on the lower end and honestly 17.95 per lb is slightly higher than usual pricing. I got the malatang while everyone else in my party got dry pot and I regret to say that I should've gotten dry pot. The malatang is nowhere as good as YGF's recipe. Do not get the malatang. The dry pot however is probably some of the best dry pot I've had so get thatThe bowl comes with some rice if you ask, so that was a nice touch. Unfortunately, the sauce bar is an additional charge and while they do let you know, you have to read a piece of paper that is taped to the wall somewhere so it feels a little misleading. The reason why I'm only giving 3 stars is because the service staff was rather rude. When we were paying our bill, she kept on telling us to just pay and sign. When I asked for the receipt before paying, she said to just pay and she'll give the receipt then. I wanted to take a look at the bill before we paid but apparently we couldn't do so? Also when it came time to input the tip, we were selecting the percentage and hadn't selected the input we wanted but she told us to just sign (this is when it was on the default highest percentage). Overall, solid dry pot but for better service and malatang, please head over to YGF.

Similar to other malatang places, you pick your ingredients for your hotpot and they charge you by weight. Between the two options, hot pot and dry pot, I enjoy both but find that the dry pot is rarer to come by. We pay at the end which is typical for a restaurant actually, but I don't know why I was surprised. You pay for dipping sauce as well. I enjoyed hearing the ladies working here speaking in both Chinese and Korean, which felt very special. I loved the mala flavor. I always need to be careful about eating spicy food, but delicious food is always a good idea.

Been here twice in a month already! Their Mala dry pot is the best! Efficient and nice staff, background music is also good!

A great spot for spicy hot pot lovers, with plenty of options for vegetarians, including many selection of vegetables and bean curd. However, be cautious with the spice levels if you are not used to malatang - even the mild spicy was a bit too much for me. The restroom is very clean, adding to the overall pleasant experience.

Note: This review is only based on the dry pot, since we didn't get anything else!Decided to finally try out this place for a work lunch after we walked past a few times. The place was clean and tidy and the service was fine. I thought the dry pot was just okay. Some of us with higher spice tolerance thought it wasn't spicy enough (at medium and at hot). The selection of ingredients was pretty small compared to a lot of malatang places. As someone who frequently consumes malatang and sichuan-style hotpot, I didn't find the flavor to leave much of an impression -- I also wasn't a fan of the pieces of ginger that intermingled with other ingredients in some bites. They could've added less, or just taken them out after using them for flavoring (maybe just my personal reluctance to eat actual ginger).Even though it wasn't a bad experience overall, it wasn't good enough for me to want to return, especially at the price point. Most people who don't indulge in malatang often would probably enjoy it just fine, but I feel that there are better options in the area. My coworker who I went to Sorimmara (next plaza over) with agreed that Sorimmara was tastier. I think I could be open to coming back to Tang Huo Kung Fu to try the skewers one day, but otherwise I'd likely take my malatang/hotpot cravings elsewhere!

Delicious but very one note in flavor so I knocked off one star.PRO:* Great variety in ingredients (Woodear mushrooms, quail eggs, udon, ramen, Shirataki noodles, lamb, beef, lotus, Napa, sausages, fish cake with roe, thin potato slices, they used to serve taro, bok choy, numbing oil, mala spice, sesame oil, hoisin sauce* $1.50+ extra if you want premium sauces although you really do not need this because there's so much sauce already per dish* such a unique take on dry hotpot CON* since everything is stir fried in the same mala spicy sauce, it sometimes can feel very one note. The hoisin or numbing oil helps numb out this spicy taste in between bites * the double cooked fried pork is a nice change in pace but it's $32 and the plate is HUGE so it's really hard to eat if by yourself. I shared this with my brother and we got sick of it and we wouldn't order it again. Parking is $5 for valet for 1 hour. Anything over that is $7 for 1+ hour.

Pretty much tried every franchise Malatang except this one located in KTown..as with most of KTown parking is severely limited so come off hours and the valet will have spots ...this place is actually split across two suites and depending on time of day u will either go to the big side or small side ..two buffet stations of items to choose ..you pay by the pound ..not as many choices as some other Malatangs out there but does the job ...went with the dry version medium spice ..and surprisingly was tasty... service quick enough and worth a try if in area ...only downside is they charge for the sauce bar ..

Oooh I love that this place is open so late! Dry pot was tasty, you don't even need sauce because the pot comes out very well seasoned already. I'd skip noodles and just focus on the veggies and protein, because you can get rice on the side.
