Sushi Yuen is such a hidden gem. I've been to this plaza countless times over the years and never quite noticed Sushi Yuen over in the corner. Little did I know, what I thought was just another little sushi spot, was one of the most indescribably delicious and unique omakase spots I've ever been to. When I say everything was immaculate, I mean it. The intimate restaurant vibes? Immaculate. The service? Immaculate. The high quality fish and Japanese cuisine prepared right in front of you? Immaculate. Everything, from the crunch of the ginger, the temperature of the tea they serve you, the presentation of each and every course--IMMACULATE!My family came here on a Thursday evening to celebrate a birthday, and the chefs did not disappoint. Everyone had such a delightful time learning about each course, seeing the fresh fish and ingredients being presented, delighted at each nigiri and roll handed directly to us and to be consumed in a single bite. I'm pretty sure my eyes rolled back into my head when I tasted the toro nigiri, and the Hokkaido uni. I actually still dream about the melon they served for dessert!Thank you to Chef Ryan and his team for making us feel so special as we celebrated our family member's bday and was even gracious enough to let us bring and cut a cake at the end. The chefs let us know they change the menu with each season. I told him I'll be back as soon as winter ends and spring begins

Officially my favorite Omakase of 2025!!How are they not Michelin starred??Experience 5/5 - I loved the chef is friendly and would initiate conversations with us. He cracked a few jokes to lighten the mood and towards the end of the meal, we were all comfortable enough to sing each other happy birthdays haha. One key shoutout is the way staffs cleaning our table, filling the water, changing plates. They are so quiet and quick that when I turned my head back, the table is cleaned already without interrupting my conversation with my date. Food 5/5 - WOW! We loved every dish. As frequent Michelin restaurant goers, the ingredient quality and dishes' creativity surprised me. We loved EVERY dish. And I can't say this to some other currently Michelin starred restaurants. This was my first time hearing my husband saying he's gonna be sad when the last course is served. Lol. Parking is also a breeze. It's in a plaza with plenty of free parking spots.Menu changes per season. $300pp.

It's been a while since our visit to Sushi Yuen, but the experience was so exceptional I feel compelled to write about it. We dropped in for a walk-in lunch omakase on a random Tuesday, knowing dinner reservations would be tough to snag--and even then, the place was bustling. From the outside, Sushi Yuen keeps a low profile, but don't let that fool you--this spot is clearly a local favorite. For $90 per person, we were treated to 13 courses and dessert, each one an absolute masterpiece. Honestly, I can't name a single standout dish because everything was flawless. The quality, the flavors, the presentation--it was all perfect. The ambience was quiet and refined, allowing us to fully enjoy the artistry of the meal. The chefs worked with precision, delivering each course at an impeccable pace, and the service was equally thoughtful, with tea refills timed just right. It's an experience I'll be eager to repeat. If you're craving top-tier omakase, Sushi Yuen is worth the visit--just plan ahead if you're aiming for dinner.

Discovered this covert omakase place in our neighborhood this summer, and have been back since. Turns out, they have a different menu every season, and we plan to be back to try what every new season brings.First off, yes the chef is Korean, but he has studied and trained in Japan for numerous years and established contacts there that allows him to import seasonal ingredients. The care and meticulous nature in which the team at Sushi Yuen prepares the meal is what brings me back. It translates into the flavors of the dishes. Sure, there are some courses that didn't blow my mind, but Sushi Yuen is one of the most consistent omakase places I've been.I want to gatekeep this place but that wouldn't fair to the awesome team!

It was a great experience and a way to celebrate anniversary! Food was delicious! The Uni... melts in your mouth. I'm not a Toro fan but the one we got, it wasn't super fatty.. creamy enough that melts in the mouth. There are a few dishes I didn't find too special about it.. like the clam miso soup and the last sushi, eel.. It was just okay. In fact, the piece i had was a little strong fish taste but my husband's was okay. Service was wonderful! The chefs were very friendly and the waiters are great. Refill your tea very frequent so you will never need to ask them for tea. Background music was very relaxing.. It was a great 2 hours experience.. good food and enjoy they make sushi in front of you!

Good quality and I went for lunch time. The toro was not as fatty as I liked and uni was not the creaminest I ate before. The appetizers were pretty. The wagyu did not taste too oily. The sushi chef was nice and smiling. The ambience was cozy.

Sushi Yuen is one of the top notch Omakase experiences you can have in Orange County except their high raging price They use exceptional quality sushi and fruits shipped directly from Japan! Very fresh and authentic! They have great service too. Very attentive.Their seatings are very small 10-12 people. Make sure to make reservation since it's reservations only! It's Once in a life time experience at price of $275 per person.

The fish quality was just okay--I've been to many Michelin-starred and Michelin Plate omakase restaurants, and this one didn't stand out. The service was disappointing, and the chef even made an unnecessary remark to my friends and me. When you're paying over $1,500 for a meal, you expect exceptional service and top-tier sushi cuts, but this experience fell short.

The food overall was good but not great, not worth the price. Also had a bad experience with the chef, he basically called us out rudely "if you have something to say just talk to me directly". (This all happened while we were discussing to our girlfriends about something the chef said to us, he had no reason to aggressively call us out)We were just having a good time with drinks and we didn't feel welcome here after what the chef said.Honest thoughts, best piece I had was their uni which was really good. Presentation wasn't that good and garnish for flavor was lacking. The crab dish they served was too sweet in my opinion not well balanced, then the last dish with the roll was so salty I had to keep drinking water to down it. I believe maybe my piece was possibly overseasoned.I also felt a lack of nigiri pieces, also had no scallop or sweet shrimp.
