Sushi Nakata Express

I was looking for a quick sushi take out place to enjoy at home on Thursday evening after a long day at work; I jumped on Yelp and decided on trying out Sushi Nakata Express in La Cañada -- wow! The reviews are true: great food at a good price. The server on the phone and at the front was courteous and helpful. I got two of their sushi rolls and the salmon bowl and... delicious:)Next time I'll try the food at their space. It looks small but it's inviting and intimate. Thank you!

Placed an online order for takeout. My food was ready when I arrived at the promised time, and the cashier dude on a Sunday was super friendly. The 24 piece combo was delicious, and the quality of fish was really good: definitely a step above other fast food sushi and competitive with, if not better than, many full service sushi restaurants. Even the miso soup was good, being flavorful but not too salty. We also had California rolls, spicy tuna rolls, spicy scallop rolls, and blue crab rolls, and all were good. My Asian parents and I were impressed. Would definitely come by again.

I ordered the 8 pc sushi with 1 roll and everything was good considering I got it takeout. I would order it again for a quick and convenient bite!

There are plenty of seats around, you sit wherever you want and order the food at front counter. The special sushi set are great deal. The sushi rice serves slightly warm which is good, instead of all cold. The place is clean and the staff is nice. Food came in quick. The set has Miso soup or salad to choose from.

If you like great sushi, you'll be disappointed here. But if you're not picky and need a quick stop, like people who eat prepackaged sushi from the market, you'll be happy here.

Placed an online order for the 24 pc sushi and 3 rolls combo when I had a craving for sushi. Got a notification in 20 minutes that my order was ready to be picked up. The sushi platter also comes with 3 miso soups and 3 salads. The platter comes with 3 pieces of tuna, salmon, yellowtail, albacore, snapper, scallop, shrimp, and eel. My faves were the albacore with a dollop of grated ginger and the snapper with a little fresh wasabi and a squeeze of lemon. I'm not a fan of salmon so I wish there was an option to swap rolls but the spicy tuna roll was also very good. Usually spicy tuna rolls are made when tuna goes bad so you mask it by mixing with mayo and sriracha. However, there was hardly that sauce cover up, which I really liked. Next time I'll be back to try the eel and avocado rolls and they even have sea urchin sushi a la carte!!!

Came here on an impromptu try. We figured it might be similar to the restaurant of the Same name sake. I would have to say it is a pretty run of the mill Japanese restaurant with a very simplified menu. Prices are pretty average and comparable to ones in the areas. The sushi combo weren't really combos it's just stacked combos. The staff was friendly. The atmosphere was very reminiscent of a pizza place for some reason but overall was clean and sizable, very express overall all, the food was ok. The sushi was average, what caught me off guard was the "bluefin special" didn't taste buttery or supple like blue fin. Looked really similar to regular tuna with some added knife marks to differentiate it from their regular tuna. I think it's ok if you want to try but I don't thjnk it stands out from the rest especially from my "bluefin" premium experience.

I stopped here to pick up my phone order - a spicy tuna cut roll. It was done pretty quickly, they have parking right out front in that crazy parking lot. Service was good, 8 pieces per order.

This was my 5th time here but unfortunately I'm never coming again after this experience. We dined in and ordered 6 rolls plus the sushi of the day. The seaweed was chewy and old, full of tendons, and the roll was 90% rice LOL. I guess this what happens a year after a restaurant opens, quality has gone way down for the price they're charging.

Yes! Delicious, quick, family friendly service, and affordable Japanese spot in LCF. Our friend recommended this place (another location will open on Honolulu Ave), and so happy we tried it. A wonderful family runs it, and they were so accommodating with knowing what kids need when eating sushi and udon. The rolls were all so fresh! We ordered a smattering of things - tempura udon, chicken karaage bento (my son loved the chicken), couple of basic rolls, and the 3 hand roll combo. Our dishes came with miso soup, and two of our dishes came with salad. I asked if they had natto despite it not being on the menu and that day they did! So nice of them to make it for me. The restaurant is bright and clean with a good amount of tables and a sushi bar. Yes, we love this place and will return! Thank you!
