READ THIS REVIEW IF YOUR DEBATING (I'm a local LA foodie) @eatsthatate on instagram Wow. WOW. Nobu nada after this place.... I dont know why some of these reviews are saying the place was overhyped. SO WRONG. This place is amazing- I try different Japanese and sushi spots and this is THE ONE. I've gone to Nobu, I've gone to HIDE and Sushi Enya, more places.... And this is the one. The service is incredibly fast and friendly. Tables pick up and the servers are there to clean up. Waters refilled when they're abt to be empty- honestly just amazing service. Food comes out quick. This is the type of place that's extremely popular and they know it and actually care to be considerate of that fact. The ambience is very warm and charming- they even have blinds to keep the area private.1. Get there early2. Get the scallion yellowtail roll it's a MUST 3. Long lines and waits go by fast- they are quick! Truly an honor to have found out about this place a week before moving out of state. This is a gem spot with truly amazing, fresh, and delicious flavorful sushi rolls. Never had sushi like this- they deserve a Michelin star....

I was so pleasantly surprised with Sushi Fumi! They don't take reservations so you have to pop in and hope you won't wait too long. Once you're called, you're lead into the very tightly packed dining room. Actually, the proximity of the tables was my only discomfort while dining here. This was only magnified by the boisterous metal concert speaking voice level of the gent 2" away from our table with his companion. Other than that though, I loved Sushi Fumi. The staff was so quick and pleasant, we were able to get in and out under 45 minutes once we were sat - making it to a show across the street at the Largo. This is a great spot to stop in before some laughs. Back to the eats -My friend and I started with some basic salmon and tuna nigiri. Or so we thought. These slices were spectacular, freshness on another levell, perfectly cut and the sushi rice bed was incredibly tasty. We were like what the---lthis is GOOD fish. I haven't had great sushi in so long, I actually did a little happy dance in my chair. We were actually so surprised at how good it was, we looked at the open sushi bar and saw some older Japanese chefs at the helm. Fascinating. In addition to our fresh fishies, we had a Philly and a Dragon Roll. Again, we basic, but man they were both so tasty. Creamy goodness in both of them but elevated. Like, better than usual rolls. I was so~ happy with all the food at Sushi Fumi, I can't wait to go back. The fish was fanciful but for fair fares and the sushi was so scrumptious, I salivate speculating Sarah's second supper at Sushi Fumi.

Every time I drive by Sushi Fumi (which is often), I see a crowd of people waiting outside. Nonetheless, it made me curious. What the heck are they doing in there that's causing herds of people to wait for sushi.Rushed to the restaurant on a Friday afternoon for their open lunch hours (12p-2p) and waited about 15 mins before the two of us were seated at the sushi bar. The sushi chef behind the bar took our order pretty immediately and from there, it was game on. We ordered a salmon cut roll, spicy yellowtail cut roll, and the special combination plate which included sashimi, carpaccio, spicy tuna crispy rice, miso soup, and salad. All the sushi was really good. It was quality and melt in your mouth fish. The pricing is on the higher end so be prepared for that, perhaps because they are located on La Cienega in Weho? Not sure. The service was fine, quick in and out dining without the frills. Honestly, I thought the food was good but also a bit pricey considering I can find comparable quality elsewhere for lower costs. Regardless, glad to have finally curbed my curiosity around Sushi Fumi.

This place has been on my list for years, but because they don't take reservations, it was really hard for me to make the time to come here without knowing what to anticipate. Super happy to report that this has become my second favorite sushi spot in La, my husband and I were really happy with the quality of this place. It's definitely a hole in the wall spot but all the best sushi spots in La are. We got there right when it opened, we put our name down and got a call exactly an hour later. Service was great, everyone was really nice and friendly. They have a really good menu with a nice variation from other sushi restaurants, here is everything we got and I would get it all again:- cucumber sonomono- tuna lemon special roll- miu roll- toro with scallion hand roll- spicy salmon handroll - toro tartar sushi with truffle salt- miso marinated black cod sushi- albacore sushi w/crispy onion and garlic ponzu- Scottish salmon sushi w/ truffle oil & lemon juice - blue fin tuna sushi w/ garlic chips & truffle soy sauceOur favorites were the miso cod sushi & anything salmon. The salmon here was some of the best salmon I've ever had, it was perfection. They were out of albacore belly but I also want to try the 'Seared Albacore Belly w/ Garlic chips & ponzu sauce' next time we come.

*OVERRated*OVERHypedForget about their $100/person Omakase (Chef's Choice) at the sushi bar unless you're into paper-thin skinny & slender slices of sushi & sashimi submerged in too much sauce and skimpy dollops of Uni AND baby scraps of Toro. Shame on YOU unfriendly sushi chef with zero personality. Fumi kinda reminds me of the old Crazy Fish in Beverly Hills (it's now Seabutter) but at least at Crazy Fish you got what you paid for and the portions were much larger. Not saying I know more about sushi than you (perhaps I do ;) but LA is filled with tons of amazing sushi & Japanese restaurants all over town that's far superior than Fumi. Only thing this place has going for them is location location location. And it's neat & clean. 2-stars = decent fresh quality & prices for some of the fish & sushi and good sushi rice. The ambiance = loud, busy and cramped. The service = decent but with a bit of attitude. Parking = read the street signs and feed the meter so you don't get towed. {{{No High-Fives}}}{{{No Fist-Bumps}}}Go Grab Some Bench Game OverSayonara Scotto San

An excellent spot with some of the best sushi LA has to offer. It always busy from open to close. No reservations so you have to come in and add your name to the list. Generally a minimum of a 15 min wait to 30 mins. Decor is nothing special just a cozy atmosphere with some of the best sushi in LA and super fresh fish that just melts in your mouth. Very innovative creations and of course the local favorites as well but perfectly executed! A nice price tag on it so don't expect cheap. But worth every penny.

A few people told me about this place and I finally got to try it. You can't avoid the line here so make sure you come before the opening time or wait for a half hour so you won't be waiting too long outside. The service was nice as most of Japanese Sushi restaurants are. We ordered bunch. Just bunch. Everything was fresh. No complaints about the freshness. However I think they are an average Japanese sushi restaurant in Los Angeles. I don't see myself driving here to eat again. You can find the same quality sushi restaurant in every neighborhood. AnywayI had a great time with my friends so I was happy coming here.

I found this place on my last visit to the area about 5 months ago. Went again tonight and wow, all my sweet memories were confirmed. This place is awesome.I had lots and lots of sushi. I won't name each one but I'll add some pics. Everything is just so superb; the rolls are butter soft. The sushi melts in your mouth. They get a little creative with the menu so there are a few surprise hits like the truffle oil sashimi. Service is amazingly quick and efficient given how crowded they are nightly. I would and will gladly come back any time I am in the area.
