Welcome to the neighborhood Sushi Bar Tetsuya. We had a great omakase meal here. Not only it was delicious, the price was great and the quality of the fish was fantastic. Chef Tetsuya rice to fish ratio was spot on. The shari ( sushi rice) was well season and not mushy.Omakase comes with miso soup, sashimi, 10pc and 1 blue crab HR.Here are some of the highlights.Hokkaido Hotate with Finger Lime- Hokkaido Hotate was sweet and fresh and it went perfectly with the finger lime.Shima Aji- Nice and fatty Kamasu- Fantastic Bafun Uni- Sweet and delicious Nodoguro- Amazing, one of my favorite fishIt's nice and fatty and it's just melts in your mouth.Service was fantastic and professional and chef Tetsuya was very pleasant. I highly recommend giving them a try. I will definitely be returning. Until our next visit.

Curious how this place stacks up to many other local options. Decor's both tasteful and cozy. Friendly, attentive service from cool young guys with glasses and tattoos. Fried Pork Gyoza - Perfectly crispy. More nuanced flavor than most.Assorted Tempura - The fry on this is quite heavy. Not light.Creamy Spicy Shrimp Tempura - Same as assorted Tempura, the fry is a bit too heavy and masks more delicate notes. Like the herbs which add welcome balance and some nice warming spice.Omakase was nice, but ranks after Katsuya and Akira. Similar to how Sushi Tomoki's rice detracts a bit from the fish. Unlike Tomoki, here the cuts are large enough it's much less of an issue. They served:Japanese Horse MackeralJack MackeralGolden Eye Snapper - a recommended standoutAmberjackHalibut - addition of seaweed adds almost mushroom umamiHokkaido Scallop - perfect amount of yuzu is incredibleSalmon EggBlue Fin TunaAll this, plus 2 bottles of sake, for $100 is not bad!Overall, no regrets/complaints! Quality, atmosphere, and service are quite nice! Hard to rival "the best" in this area, but this place is a fine addition. Happy to revisit and try more. Good happy hour, too!

Best and most authentic sushi in studio city!I'd highly recommend sitting at the sushi bar to experience the chef's craftsmanship first hand.Highlights were the uni, golden eye snapper, sweet shrimp and scallop. The fried enoki mushrooms was the under the radar MVP. They were fried to perfection like shoestring fries with a hint of saltiness that paired superbly with a glass of cold beer.We finished our dinner with a yuzu sorbet that was a perfect palette cleanser to cap off a wonderful meal. The interior design and decor was contemporary minimalistic with a Japanese accent that created a warm ambiance. The chef and wait staff were very friendly and provided very attentive service throughout our meal.We didn't see an omakase option on the menu, so hoping to see one in the future. We will be coming back again for sure!

Intro: Brand new restaurant in Studio City, CA, on Ventura Blvd. Founded by third generation sushi chef Tetsuya Tanabe of Tokyo, Japan, bringing the proud tradition that his grandfather started in Tokyo to the San Fernando Valley! This restaurant certainly deserves recognition as a top-notch sushi establishment.Food: 5: Great, high quality and unique selections, with creative and tasty preparations. A great balance between traditional ingredients and creative modern execution. Excellent, top notch high quality nigiri, sashimi, maki (cut rolls) and temaki (hand rolls). Creative and flavorful specialty rolls, soups and appetizers. No over-the-top huge and drenched in sauce rolls with cute names here. Only authentic high-quality stuff! You can sit at the bar and enjoy a high-quality experience by Chef Tetsuya himself or choose a table and order on your own. Either way you can't go wrong. Drinks: 4: Beer, sake and wine. No spirits.Service: 5: Servers and sushi chefs are super polite, super friendly and super attentive. They are eager to serve, make recommendations and ask your opinion about their offerings.Parking: 4: Off street self-parking in the small shopping plaza. Quite a few spots are marked with 5-minute parking signs??? Street parking is very limited.Venue: 5: Nicely decorated, modern and comfortable. Good size sushi bar area as well as many tables. No outdoor seating.Prices: 5: Up to par and reasonable compared to similar restaurants. The Last Word 5: Sushi Bar Tetsuya fills a nice niche in the crowded landscape of sushi restaurants in the Eastern San Fernando Valley. Unlike most other Japanese restaurants here, their approach is a little more towards the traditional side. The ingredients and the overall quality are always very high and very consistent. If you are in the mood for good quality and unique nigiri, sashimi and rolls, this is the place. If you're looking for huge sauce-drenched rolls with funny names, this is not the place but trust me; there are several other restaurants along the same stretch that would fulfill your cravings! Sushi Bar Tetsuya gets my high-fives and sincere accolades for continuing the tradition of providing authentic high-quality sushi to Angelinos. I wish them great success for many years to come and will be visiting them often!

The real deal! We've eaten at some of the best sushi spots and hidden gems in LA, and this restaurant has now risen to the top of our list. Fresh, beautiful cuts of sushi are made with TLC, and there is a large variety to choose from. The fish alone is worth every penny, but the sleek design, calming jazz music, and attentiveness of the servers makes this place 5 Star!

What an amazing experience at Tetsuya, decided to try a new sushi place on spur of moment due to yelp reviews. Had the omakase tasting $80 (worth every penny as I had paid more and got less at other places). Will be placing in rotation Ambience 10/10Service 10/10Food 10/10

Food was great. I like that there are things you don't see at every sushi restaurant, like the fried enoki, which were super yummy. And traditional items like agadashi tofu, that was also really good. The coating on the tofu was perfect, not too heavy. Service was way better than you expect for a place near a tourist attraction. The servers were so smiley and kind. Definitely coming back when we are in the area again!
