My friend Hann brought these over to our men's group and had the eel, soft shell crab and kakiage. All these absolutely HIT! So far the soft shell crab is my favorite but still have yet to try all the other selections.I love how hearty and filling these are! True gem in ktown!

(Tookout 07/18/24 TH @ 5:00pm): Supa excited about these Okinawan onigiris filled with Spam! Thanks to an earlier Yelp Elite event that introduced me to Supamu Okinawa Onigiri, I decided to stop as I was driving home. Self-proclaimed as "SoCal's First Okinawan-Style Onigiri" (I didn't bother to research whether or not this was true), I enjoyed my first time here and their Spam-focused menu. I mean... I grew up on Spam, and although I didn't eat it as often anymore, I always loved a Spam musubi or two especially whenever I visited Hawaii. Would my second visit to this onigiri Spam shack with Okinawan influences be another hit!? PURCHASEVeggie Gyoza 5pc ($5.50): With your choice of pork or veggie, these deep-fried dumplings topped with spicy mayo and teriyaki sauce, were a bit small but thankfully were flavorfully-packed with fresh ingredients and a poof of steam when I bit into them. This was an impulse buy, and although they were yummy, these weren't the main attraction for why you came here. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=UJIfQhfw3Ne6j9icHduipAHawaiian Supamu Musubi ($6.95): Made with a grilled pineapple, egg, and Spam with teriyaki sauce, this was like an Okinawa's version of White Castle's slider. Thinner than I liked, it surprisingly still filled you up just enough. The fresh pineapple slice was juicy and messy, the egg was kind of meh, the Spam was always wonderful (just wished it was a bigger slice), and the rice and seaweed wrap held everything together although the teriyaki sauce tried to soggy things up. This was a joy to eat! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=iDEmCu2rmbLvHxw3otV76gSpicy Mentaiko Shisho Supamu Musubi ($7.95): Crafted with spicy mentaiko caviar, shisho leaf, egg, and Spam, as interesting and unique as this sounded, it sort of fell flat for me. It simply lacked much flavor while the saltiness from the Spam was the main tastebud tickler. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=7DvnZ0uyTGBKBajB75tsTASERVICEI was greeted by a kind young woman behind the counter who quickly took my order (I already knew what I wanted to try). About ten minutes later, my food was packed and ready to roll! I loved the ease and straightforwardness of the service; also, it was a long day, so I really just wanted to get home and eat. All was good - arigato!PARKING (FREE)"Koreatown" - 'nuff said. Located in a small shared parking lot with an attendee, I was lucky and found a spot. Otherwise, there appeared to be plenty of street parking along the main drag of 6th St. and all surrounding streets.ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCEA primary takeout counter at the corner of 6th St. and Catalina St., the menu was explicitly posted on a window https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=6mti9uV39N2w2US5Hii3EQ for easy viewing, they had an outdoor patio to enjoy your meal and nothing else. There was a colorful mural https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=RtnP73BYzYUA652BWYnyNA I admired while I wanted for my order. Plenty of natural lighting while soul-sucking fluorescent lights filled in the rest once the sun went down. There weren't any TVs or background music unless you counted the sounds of the street traffic. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=t2WJ5s4mujHAX7qvZyuw9AATTIRETotally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops.OVERALLMy second visit to Supamu Okinawa Onigiri was a successful one, and I would like to return to further explore their creative menu of different ways to enjoy Spam. Honestly, this was the only Spam-focused eatery I could think of, which brought a smile to my face. However, I wasn't certain how this niche model would hold long-term. As I generally liked everything I tried, the prices might be a tad prohibitive, and the parking situation in Koreatown was always a circus. The service was efficient and friendly. And, I loved to support local small businesses whenever possible. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL would-be paid experience was around $22.00 BEFORE any discounts/tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

Check it out, my Yelp peeps!! SUPAMU Okinawa Onigiri is a hot new spot in L.A.'s Koreatown and it SLAPS HARD!! If you aren't familiar with onigiri, it's exactly what you see in the pics... nori filled with rice, egg, and some kind of meat. They traditionally come in a triangular shape, but SUPAMU is out here putting their own twist on this Japanese/Hawaiian classic, and we weren't mad about it!We didn't know about this place and only discovered it on our way to Oakobing. You can't miss it because it's on the corner of W. 6th & W. Catalina. They only have outdoor dining, but there's quite a few seats and tables. The prices are not super expensive, although I do feel that some items could be priced lower. My friends got the Sukiyaki Beef & The Classic. They loved them, and one of them went back to get one more for the road. That Sukiyaki looked and smelled insane!! I'm a sucker for beef, so I was all in when I saw it. My other friend who got the Classic was satisfied but was jelly for being "basic," lol! But hey, you can't go wrong with a classic!Service was phenomenal! Jack was nearing the end of his shift, as they close at 10 on weekends. We were there around 9:30 on a Saturday night and he was chopping it up with us like we were old buddies. We asked a lot of questions and he was happy to oblige as he answered everything. They're pretty new, and have only been open for about 6 months. I asked if they have an IG account for Insta posting purposes, but he said they should have one up and running soon, so keep an eye out! Aaaaand I literally just checked and they DO have one! LoL It's @supamuktownYou're welcome! =)This place most definitely earns more than 5 stars in our book! The only suggestion I have is to add furikake to the rice, or maybe have it on the side if people want to spruce up their onigiri. I love furikake and it makes the rice taste even better! Other than that, good luck with parking because it's Koreatown. There is limited street parking, but there is also a public parking garage around the corner, on W. Catalina. It was a flat rate of $20 plus tax (freakin' L.A.)!!! This is one place my friends and I won't soon forget!

We went here after eating Tofu soup across the street. The food is soo delicious. It's a sandwich with spam in it plus other stuff. We tried the Classic, it is good and price is reasonable. I can have this for breakfast or lunch or dinner for a quick bite. Parking will in the Plaza behind it , it is Valet for $3 , if you can find street parking then it is better.

Food 4/5: good spam musubi but not as good as the ones from Torrance. Also took some time to get my orders but it's understandable because of the pop-up store nature.Service 4/5 for slownessAmbiance - pop up setup

I have a new favorite spot to hit when in LA. I've had a lot of onigiri, but this was my first time trying Okinawa style onigiri, which clearly is a different beast than your average nori-wrapped rice ball. We ordered three different kinds and enjoyed all three: Classic, Curry Croquette and K-pop. These onigiri are FILLING, the two of us didn't need three of them, but we did finish them all! I'd say the winner for me was the Curry Croquette, but all of them were absolutely delicious. If you're looking for a light snack tuna mayo, this ain't your place, but if you've got an appetite for more, and you like spam, you've found the spot!
