Starting off with the location, because it's prime center of the melrose district, the parking can be tricky in the evening, eventually finding metered parking is possible, or in the back streets, just be weary of the signs posted! The staff was amazing and super helpful with the choices I ended up picking. Please also note this is an all vegan restaurant with a variety of delicious options. I ended up getting their loaded fries, and they are very generous with their portion. Super delicious and you can even add your choice of plant based protein to it. I had to try their carnitas taco (jack fruit), needless to say it was so well seasoned I could hardly tell it was plant based. Next time I'm ordering three of those! For my drink, I ordered their hibiscus agua fresca, perfectly balanced and refreshing.I absolutely enjoyed my meal here, it also helped that the space was super colorful, and they even have a little store front, if you'd like to take a souvenir or two. I highly recommend this place to anyone. As a non vegan individual, I thoroughly enjoyed this experience.

The good things, this place is offering free meals because of the fires. The sad part is customer service was decreased drastically. I decided to give it another chance after not getting my order and this place stealing my Money to see if we can come to an agreement, sadly they owners at this point don't event care, specially since they are closing down. I guess the closure is for the best at this point.I have emailed them. texted them, called them. no response from them

Met a friend here for dinner. The vibe here was great. Love the decor and music they were playing. Customer service was great. Everyone was so nice. We ordered a super burrito of Vegan asada, cheese quesadilla, and taco trey plate of (vegan carnitas). Everything was amazing. So full of flavor. This place has been on my bucket list to try for years, and it did not disappoint. I hope to come back here as often as I can when I visit from out of town. They need to bring this to the SF Bay Area.

Food soooo good you forget it's vegan!! I make a point of trying new menu items each time but my heart belongs to the "asada" bowl. Add chips and guac to that and it's *chef's kiss. Plus they're super pet friendly and have suuuch cute decor!

I had this bookmarked for a while and I forgot this was a vegetarian Mexican joint. The food looked really good though, so I wanted to try it! We ordered a carne asada burrito, carne asada fries, and a carne asada taco + carnitas taco.We arrived when the shop just opened so there wasn't anyone else dining really. The patio is also surprisingly clean! The employees here are kind and efficient with their work too.It didn't take too long for our food to come in. I mainly had the tacos, but my impression of it was that I didn't really like how the tortilla was just slightly warm. The carne asada also has a weird aftertaste to it too. I feel like the taco itself was pretty underwhelming. The carnitas tasted a bit better, but not too much of a difference. My bf also didn't like his burrito either. As for the loaded fries, the first few bites were pretty good! The top half was better because it was actually crispy, but the bottom half of the fries got really soggy... I didn't mind the overall flavors of the fries, but once you reach to the bottom half, it wasn't that tasty anymore... Maybe because we are not vegetarian ourselves, but we thought the food was a bit displeasing. Although, my bf would say that you should feel like you're eating meat when you're not, and it doesn't really come close. Overall, food was disappointing, but the service was nice here.

I tried the holiday burrito from their holiday menu. Inside the burrito was: mashed potatoes, soy turkey, roasted seasonal veggies and cranberry sauce, with gravy on the side. This was unlike anything I've ever ate! It was very different. I enjoyed it mostly but will continue to stick to my usual. This was my third time visiting, and like always, the service did not disappoint. I loved the spicy margarita as well, which has my lips tingling hehe

Sugar Taco is one of my favorite spots to grab food in LA!! I've literally had almost everything on their menu at this point. Burritos, tacos, nachos, churro donuts - I love it all! Like I love it so much that I usually order two meals for myself so I can have more the next day. My go-to protein is the carne asada but I also love the pollo. I also feel like everything is reasonably priced for such quality, plant-based food. The restaurant itself is insanely cute and beautifully decorated - capturing the fun, instagram-worthy vibe of LA mixed with the vibrance of Mexican culture. Presentation is flawless! Plus, staff have always been fab! Occasionally I've had to wait longer for pickup than the estimated time so just something to keep in mind.Sugar Taco is the full package and I recommend it to everyone. My whole family has fallen in love. Can't wait for my next Sugar Taco stop!

Good like always and low-to-no street parking on a Saturday after 12pm. Food is always good especially if you're plant based. On busy melrose was decided to stop back over here and order loaded fries and tacos and a margarita They do offer margaritas to go --but for one it's about $21 (plus tax) as opposed to just drinking it in the restaurant for $10(plus tax)The street is busy, the food is made to order so expect a wait or order online ahead.. the customer service could be better

CLOSING? Absolutely CRUSHED to hear it. Best vegan Mexican in Los Angeles and a real asset to the Melrose district. I wish that chefs from other vegan Mexican restaurants (Doomie's, Mas Veggies, Tu Madre) would come to Sugar Taco begore it closes to sample the best pescado taco in town -- lightly breaded tofu chunks cooked and fried to consistent perfection. Thanks to all at Sugar Taco. I have eaten here at least 50 times. Always loved the food.
