I'm not joking when I say that my meal here literally revived me! I came here on a chilly Friday night looking for a nice, hot bowl of gumbo and walked out with my heart and stomach full. I highly recommend dining in and soaking in the ambience and amazing hospitality/service.I ordered a small bowl of their famous seafood gumbo and the chicken seafood combo plate (mind you this was a lot of food for one but I was ready to eat). The chocolate chip banana cornbread and the blueberry cornbread were served warm with a side of honey butter. These were so unique and delicious, I wanted to take a dozen home to-go. The gumbo was so comforting and full of flavor and spice. They don't skimp of the seafood either. The small bowl was filled to the brim with sausage, king crab, chicken, and shrimp! I love Alaskan king crab so this was a treat. The fried chicken here was absolutely amazing and would bring me back here alone. Do not sleep on the red pepper cabbage and mac & cheese! They were both the perfect sides for the chicken. The fried catfish bites were crispy, tender, piping hot, and delicious with I think was blackened ranch. And to top it all off, the peach cobbler truly blew me away. Served in a warm bowl, a la mode. I usually don't like fruit pie but this was the perfect balance of crust to filling. A must-order!

I hadn't been to Stevie's in a few years. I thought shortly after quarantine the place needed time to get back in the groove. Today I decided to give them a try agai, upon eating my food I recalled why I hadn't been back. The 2 young ladies taking orders were quite pleasant and provided great service. The food was blah. I ordered the seafood platter. The oysters, catfish nuggets and "jumbo" shrimp lacked seasoning. I can't eat anything spicy, so I don't mean that. I mean literally no seasoning at all. I wanted to add creole seasoning to fully enjoy the platter. Catfish nuggets were overcooked just as the shrimp were. The side of yams and the mac & cheese were very disappointing. Yams were dark brown, overcooked and taste like they were from the can. The mac was more like soup with all the water. We added the crswfish creole sauce and rice for an additional $12 , not sure where the crawfish was. That was a waste of money and taste buds. The best thing ordered were the peach beignets.Very pricey to say the only thing enjoyable was dessert. I won't make the 45 minute drive to go back and waste money.

I want to note that I am a very good friend of Stevie's have grown up with him. He's a friend of the families have not seen him for quite some time and now that I'm approaching 80 he's probably close behind Me. I decided to go and experience some of his delicious cuisines as I remember them as I have been out of the state for quite some time and I was a little disappointed and felt like maybe he franchise or sold his menus to another type of company because the food was nowhere near What I remembered it being. I ordered my standard catfish and all I got were nuggets over fried with yams that tasted like they came out out of the can and over season greens.? I asked about the catfish and she said they only serve it in nugget form which should state that on the menu or from the waiter themselves when ordering or I would not have ordered that. My friend had snapper she said was way too salty versus my catfish nuggets, which were blah when I did find some catfish. The greens and the yams and the macaroni my party complained of the water down effect. Maybe you should use a ladle when putting the food on the plate to eliminate the liquid? I ordered beignets to take home which my friend said was good but tasted like it was fried in fish oil so maybe wipe out the pan before frying something else that's different? All in all it was not the experience I remember and since I cannot talk to my friend Stevie after numerous attempts to contact him, I'm not sure how the food and at what stage the food is at whether this is still Something he owns up to or sold off to?So I guess I will continue to patronize Dulans and Mardi Gras's Tuesday. I find the price was exceptionally high for the quality of food that we had so for a starter I will go back to my yams the ones with pineapples in it? The slabs of fried fish perfectly season? The fresh greens true macaroni and cheese without the water. On a good note, my son did enjoy the pork chops and I took home jambalaya, which was actually very good as I remembered it only it had pasta this time that I chose but hey time moves on and things change and not always for the better love you, Stevie Wherever you are?Jeanie Sewell!!!

Giving Stevie's a 4 due to service. I found myself waiting around for assistance. It did not feel like the waiter or front desk person was very attentive. But!!!! They could have been busy with other things I don't know. The food was all delicious( especially the seafood gumbo) I don't know it was so small inside but that was not a problem. There are seats outside that you can also sit in. All and all nice place I would definitely come back. :-)

Get the Gumbo. The Seafood Gumbo.

Great food. Great dessert. Seafood gumbo came with some fresh high-quality seafood. They have some of the best fried chicken I've had in LA as the fried chicken had a perfect exterior crispiness and was perfectly tender and juicy inside. Catfish creole was easily my favorite dish and by itself is a complete meal with amazing catfish that comes with a delicious sauce and it comes with tasty rice and two sides. Their beignets were amazing. Great, attentive, and helpful service. Nice atmosphere. I don't know much about you Stevie but what I do know is that you serve some fantastic food!

An historic establishment in downtown LA, this place serves up classic New Orleans style, creole classics such as gumbo, smothered pork chops and catfish. We got the Creole Catfish, beignets, the Fried Chicken, cornbread, and the gumbo. Everything tasted excellent, and harkened back to my trips to New Orleans to visit friends in the area. The service was hospitable and quick, and I was seated right away. A memorable experience and a taste of Creole in our very own City of Angels--what a treat!

Out here visiting from the bay and took upon ourselves to give this place a try after the rave reviews. The food was definitely a hit! She; creole pasta and gumbo. Her; gumbo Me; fried snapper, red beans and rice and a mac and cheese, and an order of garlic butter noodles.Everything cooked to perfection.Service needs a little help because a smile could go a long way.Ambience was mellow and my window seat made it warm!I will give it a try when I return, more menu items to be tried!

I'm very disappointed with the service I received today at Stevie's. I came with a friend, and we ordered two seafood gumbos without chicken. Unfortunately, the owner's daughter, Cameron, had a terrible attitude, which made the experience unpleasant. I'm not sure what happened before we arrived, but her rudeness was very apparent. When we politely asked if she was okay, her demeanor worsened, and she overcharged us by $12 for one of the gumbos, as you can see on the receipt, the first gumbo came with chicken, because they got the order wrong. Her negative energy affected the whole atmosphere of the restaurant, and this kind of treatment from someone representing the business is unacceptable. If this is how customers are treated, especially by someone so closely tied to the ownership, there's no reason for me to return. A restaurant's energy and customer service are just as important as the food, and today's experience was incredibly disappointing.

I'm no expert on Creole food but this was amazing. My favorites were the blackened catfish and red pepper cabbage. The gumbo has a tiny bit of heat and has plenty of seafood. A diner next to us recommended next time we ask for rice on the side because then you get more seafood. The cabbage was a suggestion from our server and we're glad we got it. Mac is also good, just make sure to eat that right when it comes out. We also got the dirty rice which I had never had before. We didn't know what the Valentine's Day Cornbread was going to be like, and we were pleasantly surprised when it was a sweet dessert kind. The peach cobbler butter it comes with is next level. We went on a rainy day and they were still decently busy on a Wednesday, especially with takeout orders. Parking was pretty easy whether it's side street neighborhood parking or metered parking on Pico. Will definitely be back to try more such as the fried chicken and pastas.
