My fiancé and I were really craving some soul food and wanted to support a Black owned spot. Since it's been almost a year later, I thought I'd give this Caribbean spot another try. My first time at Status, I didn't get to try the food but tonight I'm so glad I did because it was all delicious! First off when you walk in, the music is blaring with the hottest tunes. It feels like a club! The hostess was really nice as well as the owner Phabio who came around to all of the tables to make sure the customers were enjoying the food. Our waitress Kyla was very helpful and gave us suggestions on what to order. She was very attentive and friendly as were the rest of the staff. We ordered the Pink Barbie drink, Sunset mocktail, Oxtail Mac & Cheese Egg Rolls, Jerk Shrimp Tacos, Jerk Homey Lamb, Oxtail plate, and Mac & Cheese side. Everything was so good, so flavorful, so Caribbean. My Haitian fiancé even gave them two thumbs up C'est Ci Bon! Everything was good, but the Oxtails have my heart, I just need some pikliz with it next time lol. This is now my new favorite Caribbean spot and I can't wait to go back. Check it out if you want to support a Black owned spot especially during Black History Month or any month, you won't regret it ;-)

My friend and I came in on Saturday night around 1130pm without a reservation and were able to get seated right away. The decor is nice, it wasn't that busy. The music was good; current hip hop. They do not sell alcohol only mocktails. It was cool until it was time to order then they got on my nerves. I ordered a veggie patty as an appetizer, it took the server about 10-15min to tell me they didn't have any. Ok next, my friend asked "what's the best thing on the menu" the server said "the oxtail, but we're out of it." Okay next, I ordered the curry shrimp pasta and the server said they were out of penne and they only had elbow pasta...We ordered our food at the same time and our dishes came out 20 min apart with no word or update from anyone. My friend was almost done with her food when I got mine. This oxtail place was very skinny for the price. Rice and cabbage were good. The Curry shrimp pasta was okay 6/10, probably tastes better with penne. Maybe it was because it was late, but they were not that busy to have had all of those mishaps. I'm Caribbean and was excited to try this place especially in Hollywood. I love supporting black businesses, but it's discouraging when they conform to the stereotypes of not having anything on the menu lol. I hope they do better

This was a Jamaican concept and not a traditional Jamaican restaurant. The ambiance was nice and the service was good. The food was lacking. If you have ever been to Jamaica or had traditional Jamaican food this restaurant falls flat. The jerk chicken had no spice! The jerk chicken tacos had some sort of weird red sauce. It wasn't salsa. It was sweet. The traditional cabbage wasn't cut and we literally had whole cabbage leaves. The oxtails which should be the star of the show were horrible. The gravy base was made with ketchup . Finally they're currently applying for a liquor license so they had several great options for mocktails. Unfortunately those fell flat as well. I ordered a pineapple ginger drink and it tasted like pineapple flavored kool aid with a hint of ginger. You're paying for the location and not the food. I would prefer that the latter was better. But it's L.A. I don't expect much when it comes to quality food.

We recently visited a Jamaican kitchen and lounge in Hollywood, and while the place has a lot of potential, there's room for improvement. The interior design and decor are absolutely stunning--sexy, fun, and perfect for a celebratory dinner with friends. The vibe is elevated with good music, making it a lively spot to gather. One downside is that they don't yet have their liquor license, which was a bit of a letdown. However, there's a bar right next door if you want to pre-game before heading over.As for the food, there were some hits and misses. The jerk chicken egg rolls and oxtail sliders were standouts. Be warned, though--the bottom bun of the sliders gets soggy quickly, so eat them fast! The beef patties were flaky and spicy, but they tasted familiar--almost identical to the frozen ones from Costco (I'm not alleging anything). The ground beef filling felt overly processed, giving off a "potted meat" vibe. The jerk chicken plate was decent. The cooking method was spot-on, but I'd recommend adding sauce to keep the chicken moist. The cabbage was okay but too crispy for my personal preference--not a deal breaker, though. The rice, infused with coconut milk, was flavorful and a nice complement to the meal.Overall, this place has so much potential. With some tweaks to the menu, a liquor license, and better attention to details like the bathroom, it could easily become a top-tier spot. For now, I'd rate it a generous 7 out of 10.

The food was AMAZING!!!!! My party and I thoroughly enjoyed the food the music, the vibe & ambience of this restaurant is so dope. I highly recommend this place, the staff is very nice and the service was great. The only thing they should add to their menu is wine and alcoholic beverages. Also I want to add another suggestion, sugar free beverages should be available for those with diabetes because my mom has diabetes and there were no drink options for her other than water.

If you're not into loud than this is not for you. They do have music playing as you would experience in a club feel...so it's low lighting with a party feel but everyone there came to have some good food. I ordered oxtail sliders but not right into a bone piece so be careful. The shrimp curry was real good. My cousin enjoyed her shrimp tacos fresh and even cold on the way home to be honest. As for the service, the place was packed our server was sweet but at times hard to get to. We got the most attention when it was time to leave. Other than that I would say maybe with a little alcohol it's a vibe. I don't need it but my party did.

Went to Status Hollywood for my boyfriend's birthday. We had a party of 15, I recommend making reservations because this place was busy all Saturday night. Its an upscale loungey vibe, great for a romantic dinner or a nice dinner. I will definitely be back and highly recommend. The Coconut salmon was immaculate! Creamy and flavorful. The oxtail mac n cheese egg rolls were FIRE! And they came with oxtail gravy on the side, The oxtail's were tender and flavorful!

I had REALLY high hopes for this place. Wanted to support. Got there service was excellent. Accommodating and attentive. The problem was the food. Lack Quality all around. First they only have MOCKTAILS The appetizers was beyond disappointing. Miniature in size. I ordered the fried chicken and absolutely no lie the drumsticks was the length and width of my thumb and thighs was just as small. Then the side sauce was served not in a metal or ceramic cup but a plastic dollar tree disposable cup. Wow.. Now for a $50.00 price point for a lamb chops dinner the chops should be pretty sizable. No No No... not these. the 3 chops given equaled to 1 whole one at any decent steakhouse. THIN...!! Shamefully Thin....The sides was just as skippy. All I can say is I was Just really really disappointed overall.

Stopped by late at night for a quick bite, and it didn't disappoint. The service was fantastic, and everything we tried was delicious. The sweet chili salmon was an absolute 10/10--perfectly cooked and flavorful. The veggie patty was slightly over-toasted, but the flavors still stood out. Overall, a great experience!

I truly love Jamaican Food. This past December I took myself out for my birthday and wanted some good Jamaican Food. Yes Party of 1. :) I called Status and made a Solo reservation. I spoke to Phabio and he said they would take care of me. The atmosphere was definitely exceeded my expectations. I was seated at a nice table and welcomed with a smile. The Oxtail Plate, with a side of plantain was FANTASTIC, good music, great service, the whole experience was a VIBE. I heard Busy Signal - Happy Birthday playing in the background as they brought out a scoop of ice cream with a candle for me. Thank you Status and I can't wait to come back to try the Brown Stew. -Blessings
