Soul Food Shack - Inglewood

My family and I have had food from the Soul Food Shack and was very satisfied. The food was delicious and very flavorful

10/2/24 Just got a chicken patty eggs & homefries and some wings no seasoning$31 dollars...shit was dry af who ever cook that bsNeed his or her hands cutt off......The only thing good was the orange juice...Not sayin all the food is bad . But the gum ball cookin the breakfast suck...Ijs

I met up with my foodie friend for a working lunch. Sou Food Shack is located on market street in Inglewood. There is street parking available so I was able to find a meter spot. I couldn't read how long due to poor quality but managed to add a hour to the meter using my credit card. We found a good table and were greeted by very friendly staff. The space is cozy but roomy with a really good vibe and music. We looked over the menu with lots to look over. Big C was our server and greeted us with a big smile. We couldn't help but look at other customers plates before deciding what to order. Our order came to the table quickly and it was fresh and hot. I ordered fried catfish and decided to share our sides. Everything was delicious and flavorful. Large portion and enough to take home for later. Over a great experience and want to come back for breakfast.

Had lunch here today. It was just ok. I had high hopes because it is LA and I was expecting great soul food. But it was just ok.I had the catfish with mac n cheese and yams.The fish was fried hot and fresh, however it tasted more like whiting and not catfish. It also needed a little bit more seasoning. The mac n cheese was too creamy and it also needed more seasoning. The yams tasted like can yams that had been doctored up.My cousin had the shrimp and grits and she said it was just ok.As far as the service,. I dont know how to feel about it. The girl taking orders wasn't super rude but she wasn't nice either. Im glad I got to try this place but I probably wouldn't return.

Our original plan was to get takeout from Dulan's on Manchester but when we drove by, we couldn't tell if it was the line for the restaurant or the line at Space Mountain at Disneyland (minus the signs for approximate wait time). We didn't feel the need to try it that badly so I checked my Yelp list to find a nearby alternative. I had Soul Food Shack listed so we drove a few more minutes into the very charming section of downtown Inglewood. Parking was limited on the street but we were fortunate to find a spot right in front. We were so happy to find no Disneyland lines waiting for us.The young lady taking orders was very cheerful and helpful. It really made us feel welcomed. The prices were higher at Shack but I was ready to take the plunge since I was on a mission and refused to return home empty handed. My son wanted meatloaf with mac and cheese and yams while I ordered ox tails with gravy and rice, corn, and yams. My wife who accompanied me on my journey wasn't hungry so she said she'd pick at our food.After waiting in the car to be called, our food arrived and the bag was HEAVY. I don't mind paying more when the establishment is generous. When we got home and began eating, we were extremely impressed with their cuisine. My son loved everything on his order. He was especially happy with the Mac and cheese. My oxtails were soooo tender and you don't even really need a knife since it falls off the bone. The cornbread muffins that come with each meal were wonderful. The yams were on the sweet side but I still enjoyed them. The corn was okay. I probably should've ordered collard greens or Mac and cheese instead. The quantity of food they give you is more than generous. My son didn't finish his meal which NEVER happens. I recommend Soul Food Shack highly and look forward to my next visit here.

It was good, The catfish batter could be more crispy and seasoned. It's overall good, the red beans and rice was perfect to taste. The corn was sticky and delicious, Need some more of that in my life. Potato Salad was okay (:

April 2023: My friend introduced me, and a friend in town visiting from Seattle to The Soul Food Shack, as he also wanted to explore a different neighborhood; Inglewood specifically! She had been telling me about this restaurant, and now I can see why she couldn't stop talking about it, it's absolutely delicious!Catfish w/sides($19.99): On point, mouthwatering flavor, and perfectly crispy! The sides are incredible as well, and the portions are plentiful! Yams, greens, and cornbread... Yes, yes and yes, please! Flavor upon flavor... The kind that makes you want to dance! Hahaha! The Sweet Tea ($6) was refreshing and amazing, perfect amount of sweetness!Customer Service: Super friendly, genuine vibe, as well as on point with the recommendations and knowledgeable about the menu!Overall: Yes, if in the area, I would absolutely return to The Soul Food Shack, as it's a winner!

Not sure why this place doesn't have 5 stars because the food was delicious and service was amazing! We got the $5 meal that comes with 2 legs and 2 sides for $5!!!! Love that for the community. The best red velvet waffles I've tried too, perfectly crisp on the edges and fluffy inside. Sooo good. Everything was BOMB! Also, they were about to serve us our meal but the lady realized they put gravy on our rice and made sure to change it! I didn't mind the gravy but the fact that she took the time to make sure our order was perfect! Great service.

First time eating here. I Ordered the fried chicken dinner yesterday and it wasn't the greatest first experience. I ordered Mac n cheese and yams with a small greens. I received greens and Mac n cheese and the small greens. So I got double greens. NO yams!!! I called them several times 15 minutes before closing and it went Straight to voicemail. Also, the juice from the greens (that I didn't order) leaked on the fried chicken and made part of it soggy. The chicken and Mac n cheese wasn't too bad. The cornbread was very dense and heavy. Greens tasted like Gloria's greens from the can. Overall, even though the portions were pretty big and it's enough for two people that was a waste of my $25. I had the $5 off coupon from yelp if you check in there but the guy didn't know how to use it.

This was my first time here and I will be back. I have been meaning to come for a while. As a Inglewood resident, I try to support the local businesses.The food was great. Large portions... I couldn't finish my food. We came for breakfast. The catfish and grits were spot on. My husband and fried chicken and eggs with a side of pancakes. He loved the pancakes!!! The staff was nice and they were playing our favorite old school R&B music.
