Pretty cool spot. We came to the plaza to get hangari originally but stumbled upon this spot instead. You go and pick your own ingredients, put the in a bowl where they weigh it and then you pick the sauce of your choosing. Plenty of options for veggies and fish cakes. Wish there was a bigger meat selection though. We got the rose mala 2/5 stars. Started low just in case it was too hot but it was pretty mild. The mala flavor is strong as well which I loved but it's not for everyone it was too strong for my friend. You have the option to have a fire on for the dry pots but they recommend not to and only for the soup base ones. Plenty of open seats and well and pretty clean. The last place like this I went to had a dead fly in the Bokchoi since it's self serve but everything seemed clean hereFood: 8/10Service: 6/10 (hard to get a hold of employees sometimes because they were chatting with themselves a bunch)Ambience: 6.7/10

(EDIT in response to the owner: When I say that the management in charge of this restaurant doesn't care about its customers, this is exactly what I mean. Even though I clearly stated in this review that I had to pay for food that I simply could not eat and had to discard, I was offered no monetary compensation or even simply credit for a future visit. Instead, I was given the most PR-sounding, performative reply that gives me nothing of value.)Had a disappointing experience with management who doesn't seem to understand the gravity of dietary restrictions/allergens/etc. I can't eat fish, and they accidentally mislabeled their fish tofu with their fried tofu. I was unknowingly eating fish the whole time.Management's response? A measly 10% discount.I get that mistakes happen. I am not faulting the staff that worked that day. In fact, the cashier that I spoke to was extremely professional, kind, and understanding. When I mentioned to the cashier that the "tofu" tasted suspiciously like fish, they tasted it and admitted that it was fish tofu. They immediately called somebody on the phone, who I assume to be the manager. I understand Korean, so I could tell that the cashier communicated my issue very clearly. But the manager on the other side of phone simply said to give me a 10% discount.Alrighty then. I'm stuck with a dish full of food I can't eat, and in exchange I get a few bucks off my bill.Thank you to the immediate staff for handling my case with such professionalism and grace. But to the manager on the other side of the phone, you came off as stingy and unsympathetic. Please rethink how serious dietary restrictions are and consider how a customer might feel when all you give is a 10% discount for food they can't even finish eating.As for the food itself though, we got the mala with tomato xiang guo base. You fill up a bowl with whatever ingredients you want, and they cook it for you in the back. The base tastes very similar to jarred tomato pasta sauce. I personally enjoyed it. Think of it as marinara pasta, but with the ingredients of your choice.You can choose a spiciness level between 1-5. We got 2. It's not very spicy at first, but it adds up as you go on. If you're sensitive to spice, I'd definitely suggest going with the lowest level.They also have a condiment bar where you can gourge yourself with toppings like chopped peanuts, jalapenos, raw minced garlic, dried minced garlic, spring onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, numbing sauce, chili paste, chili oil, oyster sauce, and so much more!They blast k-pop and the energy in there is pretty fun, but still toned down and not overwhelming. In all my visits, the staff here have been really nice and chill!They're located in a plaza that's pretty active even at night with the bustling Koreatown energy. There are plenty of dessert/boba shops within walking distance.As many other people here have said, the price can be a little hefty. Also, you won't know the price until you go to pay and weigh it on the scale. So you might be surprised by the cost.Overall, it's a fun and lively restaurant with good food. It's a shame that our experience with management was so disappointing. A few dollars as compensation for food we can't finish is insulting.

Ordered through grubhub to-go and didn't realize that meat was not included in the default setting :(Make sure to add meat in the option if you want proteinI chose level 3 hot and it was spicy yet not too much which I liked.Ive tried mala xiang guo and other places and they had more flavors besides being spicy.I tried rose mala xiang guo at buena park location which I liked so maybe I will give that a try here but I won't order regular mala xiang guo again

It's around $17 per pound, my entire dish came out to $24. I had two meals with this. Take it home and add more stuff! - Malatang 4.2/5I thought the ingredients were fresh. I got lvl 5 for the spice but it wasn't that spicy, unfortunately. The meat was kind of tough.. It comes out on one of those burners, it'll keep your Malatang very very hot. Comes out super quick too! Valet parking is $4 cash, $5 Zelle.

I tried mara once and didn't enjoy it, but I decided to give this place a shot for lunch with a friend today. Feeling hesitant to order the original mara, we opted for Rose Mara Xiang Guo instead. Did we like it? Unfortunately, no. The rose sauce was overly creamy and salty. We spent around $50, and it just didn't feel worth it. We also tried the Pork Guobaorou, which was better than the Rose Mara Xiang Guo, but the sauce was too sweet. I ended up dipping it into a soy sauce I had made for the mara. We had hoped for a better experience, but we realized mara just isn't for us. Spent over $80 for these two items...

If I could, I would eat here once a week. The love I have for malatang is on another level. I've been to Sorimmara at least 7-8x since I first went in 2024. I usually get the same thing: rose mala, lvl 2 and ALWAYS lamb, spam, wide glass noodles! I've tried the soup-y one before but I definitely prefer the dry one over soup. The service here is always great. They explain the menu thoroughly and are patient with you. The music can get a bit loud but it's usually a bop so I don't mind it too much.Wish I was eating malatang right now :')

I would give SIX STARS if I could simply because of the service. I would like to apologize to the staff for my order-- I completely confused malatang with the rose malaxiangguo option! I thought I had ordered correctly but the staff went above and beyond to create a new rose malatang for me. I didn't realize until after I left how much confusion I must have caused. I'm so so sorry!!!FOOD [5/5]=========Anyways, aside from my lack of a brain cell, this place is super cool. I got the Rose Malaxiangguo (made into a malatang) and it was really delicious! The broth is very creamy. I got medium and it was very tolerable spiciness. I added a bunch of meats and mushrooms. The ambiance of the place is really amazing too! Lots of funny signs, cute decorations, and a very modern feel. The only cons: the price is a bit more than other malatang places and they barely have any fresh veggie options (I only saw bok choy and lettuce).

I can't say I'll come often because it's a bit out of the way for me and street parking is scarce - or you can opt for the $4 cash only valet. Having said that, I've visited twice already. A huge fan of all things soupy and mala, i thought we'd be a perfect match. Surprisingly, out of #1, 2, and 3, the rose flavor (it's dry) stands out as a unanimous favorite. Almost an Asian Italian fusion, it has the most appetizing flavor being creamy, umami, and spicy all in one. We kept commenting on how deliciously cheesy it tasted.They also have a bunch of different glass/crystal noodle options and mochi-type/rice cake/QQ items, which i love. The sauce bar is stellar too.At $19.99/lb, it's not cheap but definitely worth it.

Rosé & Melty Cheese Sorimmara has made me love the spicy mala tang by adding the Korean twist of giving me a Rose option and adding cheese. Omg! Game changer. I now love mala tang only if I can get it stir fried dry or make it rose style or if I can add yummy Melty cheese. On top of that you cannot forget to get an order of tuna rice balls or sweet and sour pork or shrimp to tame down the spices. I also love the sauce bar because I made the best sauce. The hotpot option is by weight so just check the weight midway so you don't go overboard. This spot so many options and simply love it. Come check out Sorimmara in Ktown! FYI: parking is $4 or just find street parking.

Ohhhh where do I begin!! I have never tried a Korean hot pot place and I was so excited to finally try it. I met some friends here and it was empty inside but the commercial area was super busy. We had to look around trying to find parking on the street which didn't work. We ended up parking in the stricter adjacent to the commercial area. So essentially what you do is you grab this huge plastic salad looking bowl and begin to fill it with all your favorite ingredients that you see in the bars. I took my time because it was my first time and I wanted to make sure that I didn't miss anything. I loaded up with veggies and tons of meat options. When it gets cooked some of the stuff shrinks so I was told to just add more, which I did!! Next thing is you go to the register and they weigh your bowl. That's essentially how they charge you, by the weight of your food. Next you select if you want a soup based plate or noodle base with your option. I opted for soup because it was cold. Then you choose your spicy lever! I believe it was from 1-5 (5 being super spicy), I chose level 1 . Then they cook it in the back and they bring it out to you in a hot pot and you start digging in. Don't forget your sauces. I was caught up with my so. That I had my friend pick some options out for me. I'm so glad I got to try this place and I can't wait to try one out In Vegas soon!!
